Child of Destiny

Chapter 2095 - 2095: The Final Trial (Part 5): Researching a new Undead Elite

……

After seeing Arthur and Aoki slaughter a huge number of jiangshi with their respective methods, Leonard paused his advance and looked around.

After a while, he suddenly retreated and swiftly returned to the side of his two other seniors, Riko and Ryoto.

Seeing him, Ryoto could not help but raise his brows and ask. “Why did you return? Getting tired already?”

Leonard shook his head while responding. “Let’s say that I feel like this is the right thing to do for now. My strength is more needed here for now.”

“Moreover, I feel like I need to conserve my strength as much as possible while those two are going crazy out there,” he continued before suddenly adding with a somewhat sharp tone. “Aside from that, I feel like safeguarding Senior Flora is the most reasonable choice right now.”

“Have you not noticed it yet, Senior Carl? Those two from their Hydra Guild have completely disappeared,” he asked while sharply sweeping his gaze at the surroundings.

Hearing this, Ryoto immediately turned his head left and right, using his ocular skills to find any signs of those two assassins from the Hydra Guild.

“Now that you have mentioned it, I have never seen any signs of them after their initial display earlier,” he said while furrowing his brows deeply.

“Those sly snakes are surely scheming something,” mumbled Leonard before quickly adding. “Waiting for the right opportunity to strike us unprepared or exhausted, perhaps?”

“Either way, it is better to be careful than take such risks,” he added before turning toward the direction where Luminous Dragon and Tyrant Dragon were fighting.

Following the direction of his gaze, Ryoto could not help but add. “No wonder those guys are being too careful.”

“Tyrant Dragon had never left Luminous Dragon’s since the very beginning of this trial, standing like a personal guard. I guess they are afraid that those two from the Hydra Guild will suddenly stab them from behind,” commented Riko.

“We can’t blame them either. After all, those two from the Hydra Guild are real headaches in the first place,” said Ryoto before turning his gaze toward another direction.

Surprisingly, Gunner kept fighting within the vicinity near the pair from the Dragon Pavilion. He was taking full advantage of the buffs that Luminous Dragon provided, especially the sacred territory that the latter had summoned through his magic formation.

Gunner was acting as an effective frontline for Luminous Dragon while the latter provided him with the best assistance possible.

Lawrence was naturally following closely behind him, acting as per the orders that Gunner had given him.

Lawrence was not fighting much, leaving everything to Gunner and the pair from the Dragon Pavilion. He was instructed to closely observe the surroundings and study the jiangshi that they were fighting.

He might not be knowledgeable when it came to corpses or zombie creatures like these, but he was familiar with the ancient methods that utilized poisons to create powerful jiangshi.

He was knowledgeable when it came to all kinds of poisons or venoms despite his young age. He naturally had an idea how these jiangshi came to be, especially when it came to the methods of nurturing their bodies.

Unfortunately, the poison solutions that were used to enhance the abilities of these jiangshi were way beyond his knowledge, especially when most of them were made from extremely ancient methods.

It was hard even for someone like him to figure out their composition due to his lack of experience.

Even if he managed to get a few samples of their blood, it would still take him a long time before he could thoroughly study them.

The unique traits of his class and race did not help that much either, because he was not familiar with utilizing them. After all, he just recently acquired them and had yet to thoroughly study them.

Fortunately, he was not in a hopeless situation since the innate senses of his class and race combined gave him a decent ability that could at least let him know the major category of the poisons in his surroundings, which included the ones that were filling the air and flowing within the bodies of these jiangshi.

Arthur had instructed him to just follow Gunner for a while and do what he was supposed to do under the latter’s orders to avoid any kind of suspicion.

He was also instructed to keep as much information to himself as possible, only releasing bits of it when needed.

This way, they would prevent the Black Market from throwing him later once they were done squeezing what they needed from him.

This would also give Arthur and the others enough time to prepare in the real world before making their move and rescuing him.

Gunner did not find anything suspicious since he understood most of Lawrence’s circumstances. It was true that they had taken him at the last minute, making it understandable that he was not too familiar with utilizing most of the abilities that he had at his disposal.

Gunner first thought of disposing of the young man later, once he had gotten what they needed from him, but after his earlier display and discovering his decent potential, he could not help but change his mind.

Among everyone, the other person, who was the busiest within the battlefield, was Chaotic Luck.

This guy seemed to have been forgotten by everyone else since he was left isolated in a certain part of the battlefield, fighting ‘alone’.

When the battle broke out earlier, Chaotic Luck was immediately instructed by Arthur to distance himself from them.

In truth, it was what Aoki had instructed him earlier, which Arthur only relayed immediately after.

They did not know what Aoki and Riko were planning, but it seemed like they wanted Chaotic Luck to form another battlefield by himself.

Arthur and Chaotic Luck thought that it might be because they wanted to separate the numbers of the opposing forces, which would make it easier for the other side to move around.

Of course, they also understood that it barely affected the overall situation, given the overwhelming size of the army of jiangshi.

However, the disturbance that Chaotic Luck caused by himself was strong enough to deal serious damage to their opposing forces.

This should be more than enough to divert some of the opposing forces of these jiangshi.

Roar! Roar! Roar!

On this side of the battlefield, an overwhelming number of jiangshi were rushing toward Chaotic Luck, wanting to shred him into pieces and devour his body.

Boom!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Unfortunately, they were met with an extremely strong resistance. The forces under Chaotic Luck were nothing to be trifled with.

The Legion of Chaotic Sun showed their true might when against an army of their own, particularly against undead creatures.

Unfortunately, these jiangshi were no ordinary undead. They were undead creatures created through poison enchantments and other profound methods that reinforce their overall capabilities.

They were not undead creatures created through dark or corrupted magic, so holy elements and such were not very effective against them.

However, this did not mean that they were immune to fire and the sacred elements that the legion possessed.

The Legion of the Chaotic Sun was still able to counter the army of jiangshi due to the nature of their fire and holy attributes.

The heat that they generated through this attribute and the purifying abilities of the holy attribute removed the toxins within the bodies of the jiangshi, limiting their overall abilities.

This gave him a slight edge when dealing with them.

Roar! Roar! Roar!

Boom!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Unfortunately, the jiangshi were slowly growing stronger, making their advance much stronger and more aggressive than it should be.

Fortunately, the battle formations that Chaotic Luck used focused more on defensive prowess rather than offensive ones.

He was planning to conserve as much energy and mana as he could so that he could last much longer in this battle.

Arthur said that he had to focus more on observing their surroundings rather than annihilating the opposing forces.

He was not sure what he was supposed to observe, but he felt that there was a hidden meaning in it.

“Is it about these undead creatures themselves?” mumbled Chaotic Luck while sweeping his gaze at the surroundings.

His purpose for coming to the Forsaken Islets was to find a way to utilize the ‘dark side’ of his abilities. He needed to find a way to awaken the power that he had accidentally used during the United Cup.

Shin had suggested that he come here, which led him to the current situation.

“This may be a good material for creating another super elite undead soldier that can rival my Hell Pilgrim,” he mumbled before turning his gaze toward the top of the towering ziggurat in the distance.

“I wonder if we can have a chance to get near them so that I can see the abilities of highly advanced jiangshi up close,” he added while staring at the four General Kings standing there.
