Child of Destiny

Chapter 2074 - 2074: Poison Master (Part 3)

Boom! Boom! Boom!

As the battle progressed, Lawrence became more accustomed to using the special methods that he had copied from Cobra and gained more understanding of his poison attributes.

He had also learned a few more tricks in the process, especially after having a newfound discovery about the techniques that he had learned from his big brother.

He had also created a few more advanced techniques that could be used alongside the poison methods that he was currently using, which further enhanced his overall abilities.

Berserk Dragon, on the other hand, was slowly losing his edge due to his being too agitated with the current progress of the battle.

Not only was he losing his cool, but his concentration was slowly slipping due to the repeated failure that greeted him throughout the battle.

Little did he know that he was already being affected by a hidden poison that was mixed with the surroundings.

This poison was different from the ones that he was familiar with. It was a special type of poison that was being released by the ‘Toxin Devil’ that was under Lawrence’s control.

“A Toxin Devil? What kind of existence is it?” asked Ryoto after hearing Aoki mumbling about this.

Aoki thought for a moment, organizing his thoughts, before answering. “Given the current background that we know about the game, there is a high chance that it is something based on the legends in the real world.”

“In ancient times, there was a case where, when tens of thousands of poisons and venoms were gathered and sealed in a single container, they would gradually merge and slowly become sentient.”

“After a long time, it will become fully alive and give birth to a special existence, which will become known as the ‘Toxin Devil’ – an embodiment or a personification of poisons and venoms themselves.”

“In a sense, it can be considered as an Elemental Spirit if we base it on in-game terms,” he added.

From the side, Arthur suddenly chimed in. “It is just one of the methods for a Toxin Devil to be formed.”

“The other method is for it to be born naturally in a specific environment, such as a place filled with poisonous plants and venomous creatures,” he added.

Hearing this, Aoki nodded. “That is also another way for a Toxin Devil to be born. In a sense, the case that I have mentioned can be considered as an Abomination Spirit, while what Junior is talking about is a naturally born Elemental Spirit.”

He then turned to the ongoing battle, particularly at the poison fog that was slowly growing more deadly as time went by.

“I wonder which category this Toxin Devil belongs to,” he mumbled, feeling extremely curious.

“It is most likely a naturally born one, given the aura that it is giving and the natural flow of mana that it possesses,” said Arthur.

Aoki then remembered something all of a sudden before saying. “Ah! I seem to remember that there is another type of such existence mentioned in the historical records. It is a type of flame that has been created by a collection of multiple poisons and venoms, which is very similar to a Toxin Devil.”

“Just like the Toxin Devil, it has also become sentient after a long time before turning into a living existence.”

Hearing this, Riko thought for a moment before answering. “The Baneful Flame.”

Arthur, on the other hand, could not help but turn toward Aoki when he heard this before asking. “Why did you ask, Senior?”

Aoki organized his thoughts briefly before answering. “From the records that we have, it seems like Dark King Tang Hyeon was a master of both. He has the Toxin Devil and Baneful Flames under his command, which also became one of his main weapons during his era.”

“There was even a record of him hosting an extremely powerful Gu within his body,” he added while pursing his lips. “There are no exact records about the names of these three, especially about their quality. However, given his strength and background, there is a high chance that they are the best of the best.”

Hearing this, Arthur seemed to have realized something. He turned to Aoki while asking. “Are you telling me that this kid-…”

He was still in the middle of taking when Aoki somewhat confirmed his suspicion. “That is what I am thinking, but it can be a coincidence.”

“However, since it concerns a huge organization such as the Black Market, there is a high chance that it is most likely the case.”

Reaching this point, Aoki paused for a moment, seemingly thinking about something, before continuing. “Or it can also be fate.”

Arthur fell into deep thought, trying to recall his experiences when working alongside that pair of brothers, particularly the older one.

“Poison Masters?” he mumbled before squinting his eyes and paying closer attention to the ongoing battle. “I guess I really need to contact those guys.”

Back on the battlefield, Lawrence, who was currently hidden within the thick poison fog, was slowly gaining more confidence.

Given how huge the poison fog was getting while spreading throughout the battlefield, his advantages were slowly building up and putting him in a more favorable position.

He had also successfully sneaked a special poison that somehow influenced his opponent without getting noticed.

Even though it had taken him quite a lot of time just to make it successful, the overall result was still favorable for him.

“I have to make good use of this opportunity before he becomes immune to the poison,” he mumbled, feeling a bit troubled about how he would take advantage of the current situation.

The poison that he had used was somewhat in the form of a magic spell. He had mixed it with his earlier attacks, which were triggered by the intense heat that his opponent’s flames were producing.

It was a type of poison that could only be triggered after coming in contact with any environment with high temperature, especially those that were at an extreme level.

This type of poison was also invisible and odorless, making it hard to be discovered.

As for the main effects of this poison, it was some sort of stimulant that made those who were affected by it become more agitated and impatient.

This, in turn, would affect their decision-making worse the longer they get exposed to it.

It was a type of poison that would be a perfect counter to classes under the Berserker Class. Their berserk skills and similar buffs would only further worsen their condition due to the effects of this poison.

However, there were also some drawbacks to this as well.

Under this state, the overall abilities of his opponents would be somewhat enhanced, which was something that a Berserker would only love.

If he let this situation last a bit longer, the poison that was affecting Berserk Dragon would only make the latter stronger and use it against him later.

If he did not find an effective way to deal with this situation as soon as possible, then the outcome of this battle would most likely turn against his favor despite all the advantages that he had gained throughout the entire process.

“My Toxin Devil is still in the development stage, barely surpassing the infant stage, despite its high quality and advanced life rating. Aside from enhancing all my poison-related spells and abilities, there is nothing much it can do,” he mumbled, feeling a bit troubled with the situation.

“I have already collected enough materials to evolve it into the mature stage when I have caught the eyes of those people. And because of this operation, I have never found the chance to further evolve it.”

“Now that I am in constant surveillance even within the game, I can’t find the right opportunity to even continue with that other quest related to it.”

“What a pity, based on the special method that big brother has left behind, a true poison master can only showcase their full potential with the help of a Toxin Devil and a Gu within their bodies.”

“The two will work well together, further enhancing my overall abilities,” he sighed, feeling regretful that he had never found a chance to complete this special method that his elder brother had created.

Reaching this point, he could not help but feel a bit distracted, especially when it came to his elder brother.

Clenching his fists tight, he swore to get his revenge.

After reorganizing his thoughts, he returned to reality and mumbled. “The legacy that the Black Market has given me is related to poisons as well, which will further enhance the abilities that I already have.”

“Unfortunately, I have yet to undergo the ritual to fully convert my race into a true Transcendent Being since I still don’t get the blessing of the NPC organization that I am supposed to belong to, which is why my class remains a rare hidden class, the Poison Master, rather than a true Transcendent Race.”

“Aside from the basic abilities of my Transcendent Race, most of my spells are still inferior to those of other Transcendent Beings.”

“I can’t confront him directly with these abilities, so I have to find a single opportunity to end this with everything I have.”
