Chapter 2073 - 2073: Poison Master (Part 2)
…
In the meantime, Arthur could not help but squint his eyes, focusing on Lawarence. He could sense a familiar feeling from this guy, especially after seeing the poison techniques that the latter was using.
“Could it be the kid? But isn’t he supposed to be with that team along with his big brother?” he mumbled, thinking about something.
He then recalled that the said big brother was missing when he last watched them during their match at the United Cup.
“It looks like I have to pay attention to this. I should ask Big Sis for help later,” he mumbled, having an ominous feeling about this.
…
Boom!
Back on the battlefield, Berserk Dragon could not help but wear a solemn expression the more he clashed against his opponent, particularly the unusual poison that kept on trying to invade his body.
If not for his powerful fire elemental powers and the help of the Elemental Spirits that he contracted with, then he would have most likely been poisoned by now.
“This is getting a bit more troublesome,” he mumbled after realizing his current situation.
Aside from his pride being hurt by this, he was also very displeased with his opponent’s methods and attributes, which he was supposed to be very familiar with.
Lawrence’s style and method were something very similar to those that the members of the Hydra Guild were using, which was something that he always clashed with during their clashes.
However, despite all his experiences when facing such methods, he seemed to be in constant disadvantage throughout the battle.
Even if he was going all out, even activating all his buffs and initiating an Elemental Spirit Possession with his pair of war axes, he was still constantly being pushed back, albeit a little.
Regardless, the fact that he was still unable to get any clear upper hand during their entire battles was making him more irritated, especially when such a poor display was being witnessed by all the apex experts at present.
Roar!
With another enraged war cry, Berserk Dragon summoned a blazing dragon that swiftly dove down toward the poison pit below him, attempting to blast the entire place.
Hiss! Hiss! Hiss!
However, before it could even reach the range of the pit, swarms of snakes flew out of the poison fog, flying straight at it.
They then converged at a single point and started merging with one another. They later formed a massive green serpent that rivaled the size of the flame dragon before clashing with each other.
BOOM!
The two colossal beasts made of fire and poison energies wrestled against one another for a while before exploding in the sky.
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
Right after, Berserk Dragon bombarded the poison pit with huge blazing crescents by brandishing his weapons in the air.
Hiss! Hiss! Hiss!
In response, an even larger swarm of poison snakes flew out of the pit and clashed against the rain of attacks pouring down from the sky.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Intense clashes continued for a while.
During the entire exchange, the others immediately noticed that Berserk Dragon was getting more agitated. His impatience was also starting to affect his actions, causing him to expend more energy in every action he took.
On the other hand, Lawrence was slowly getting familiar with his current strategy and becoming more proficient with the poison methods that he just copied.
He was slowly learning how to use them more properly, making his moves more efficient.
He was the complete opposite of his opponent, who was slowly losing his mind after the repeated failure despite launching a series of advanced techniques in the process.
Lawrence never faced his opponent straightforwardly, taking advantage of the poison fog to hide his tracks.
He might not be a pure assassin or thief, who could almost permanently enter stealth to hide themselves and constantly erase their tracks in the process. However, his Poison Master Class could be considered a fusion of the mage and thief classes that inherited most of their abilities.
He could use both stealth skill and mirage spell alternatively alongside his camouflage techniques to hide through the poison fog, making it hard for his opponent to find him.
This was the main cause of the current situation, which made Berserk Dragon crazy.
Unless he found a way to thoroughly clear the entire poison pit, he would not be able to find Lawrence hiding within it.
His only option was either using his strongest destructive skill that could nuke the entire place or pour almost all his mana to fill the entire pit with his flames, attempting to clear it.
…
Watching this battle, Tyrant Dragons and the others could not help but shake their heads, understanding that Berserk Dragon must be losing his mind right now due to the current situation.
They somewhat understood his current state of mind, especially when this was supposed to be the easiest matchup among everyone present.
Moreover, he was losing to the familiar technique that they were supposed to be very skilled at countering.
To make it even worse, Berserk Dragon was supposed to be among the most elite units of the Dragon Pavilion, while his opponent was supposed to be a rookie in comparison.
The latter was even using techniques that he just copied, yet he was still holding his ground pretty well, even against someone of Berserk Dragon’s caliber, which made it even more insulting.
…
On the side of the Hydra Guild, Boa could not help but turn to Cobra and gave the latter a look filled with contempt due to the current situation.
“It seems like your techniques are being stolen quite well. He is turning them into his own,” he sneered, along with a gloating look on his face.
The current situation was oddly similar to what happened in the battle between Arthur and Cobra during the earlier rounds. However, the situation seemed to be reversed, where the poison user was gaining the upper hand.
Cobra did not refute those words and just accepted them. “I must admit that the kid is quite skilled and talented.”
He paused for a moment, squinting his eyes while staring intently at the battlefield, before adding. “Aside from that, he seems to be very familiar with the methods themselves, which makes it easier for him to learn my moves.”
Boa, beside him, briefly nodded before adding. “If our suspicions are right, then there is a high chance that that traitor has taught everything to this kid.”
“We must retrieve that inheritance at all costs,” he added while staring intently at the ongoing battle.
…
In the meantime, on the side of the Black Market, Gunner could not help but squint his eyes while watching the match.
“It seems like the brat has some other uses, huh?” he commented after seeing that Lawrence was gaining the upper hand. “This can be good for us.”
Adelbert, who was standing a bit behind on his right, nodded. “It seems like we can start treating the kid a bit better. We can try to absorb him into our young talents rather than throwing him away after squeezing his current use for us.”
Gunner thought for a moment, recalling the incident when he first encountered Lawrence, and shook his head. “That is not necessary for now.”
“We still do not have much information about the people chasing after the kid, or know what exactly they are after.”
“We must be careful of our moves right now, especially when the situation in the real world is getting more chaotic.”
“They have even affected the virtual world because of those big incidents, so we can’t make big moves right now.”
“Provoking the other organization is a bit alright for now, but antagonizing them completely just because of the kid is a bit too much for our current situation.”
“Who knows if they are another hegemon in disguise? We may be one ourselves, but the consequences of going to war with them will still hurt us, which will also give those eyeing us a chance to make their move.”
Hearing his entire assessment, Adelbert could not help but acknowledge Gunner’s clever mind.
However, he was still lacking in some areas, especially when understanding the opposing side’s true intention when it came to dealing with such matters.
‘Given how similar the methods that the brat is using are to the main methods of the Hydra Guild, there is a high chance that they are related to one another,’ he thought while squinting his eyes. ‘Gunner must have noticed this as well, but was still unable to completely decide this matter.’
‘It seems like I have to report to the higher-ups as soon as possible. The situation seems to be a bit more complicated and has a high chance of getting out of hand,’ he said to himself after realizing the gravity of the situation.
He originally wanted to use this opportunity to raise his merit for the guild, but it seems like it was much more serious than he originally thought.
