Chapter 412: Chapter 235: Lu Fan Buys a Luxury Car as a Gift; Mother-in-Law Discovers an 18-Year-Old Secret
Jiang Yixia froze for a moment, then turned her face away. "Cut it out," she said faintly.
Lu Fan laughed. "I’m telling the truth. A child’s upbringing is a reflection of their parents. It’s not easy to raise them all by yourself and still teach them so well."
Jiang Yixia didn’t say anything, but she smiled to herself.
After leaving the flower shop, Lu Fan went straight to the gym.
Jiang Ming was at the front desk looking at a computer. When he saw Lu Fan come in, he quickly stood up. "President Lu, you’re here?"
"Get in the car. Come with me somewhere." Lu Fan nodded, gesturing for him to follow.
Jiang Ming was a little confused, but he followed him anyway.
Once in the car, he couldn’t help but ask, "President Lu, where are we going?"
Lu Fan explained, "A car dealership."
"You’re buying a car?" Jiang Ming was taken aback.
Lu Fan glanced at him and said with a smile, "Not for me. For you."
Jiang Ming froze. His voice cracked as he grew tense. "For me? President Lu, this is..."
"Last time your parents were hospitalized, you were running back and forth, spending a lot of money on taxis," Lu Fan said with a calm smile. "I know you’ve saved up some money, but buying a car is easy, and maintaining one is hard. A man needs a car; it makes getting around so much more convenient."
Jiang Ming opened his mouth to refuse, but when he saw Lu Fan’s matter-of-fact expression, he swallowed his words.
He lowered his head and could only say awkwardly, "Thank you, President Lu."
Lu Fan asked with a smile, "What kind of car do you like?"
"I... I haven’t driven much. Honestly, just a basic car to get around in would be fine," Jiang Ming said, awkwardly wringing his hands.
Lu Fan shook his head and explained, "If you were paying for it yourself, a basic car would be fine. But I’m the one paying, so you don’t have to worry about the cost. Do you like Mercedes?"
Jiang Ming’s eyes widened, and his voice trembled slightly. "A Mercedes? Isn’t that too expensive, President Lu? I really don’t need..."
Lu Fan cut him off, saying calmly, "Just tell me if you like them or not."
Jiang Ming swallowed and said honestly, "I do."
’Who doesn’t like Mercedes?’
’No matter how much hype electric cars get online, if someone’s giving you a free car, you’d definitely go for a Benz, BMW, or Audi!’
"Mercedes it is, then."
The Mercedes-Benz dealership was located in the most prosperous part of the Yangcheng City District. The entire building was a glass curtain wall, glittering in the sunlight.
Several test-drive cars were parked at the entrance—all black Mercedes, lined up in a neat row like soldiers awaiting inspection.
Lu Fan had Chen He park the car, then led Jiang Ming inside.
A doorman in a uniform and white gloves saw them approaching. He quickly pulled the door open, bowing low as he said, "Good day, sirs. Welcome."
The lobby was vast, with marble floors polished to a mirror shine.
A dozen or so Mercedes were parked in the showroom, a complete range from A-Class to S-Class, from sedans to SUVs.
The lights reflected off the cars, the paintwork gleaming like a mirror.
A woman in a business suit walked briskly toward them. She was tall and slender, appeared to be in her early thirties, and wore a standard professional smile.
Her name tag read: "Gold Medal Sales Advisor, Su Mo’er."
"Are you two gentlemen here to look at cars? Do you have an appointment with a specific sales advisor?" Su Mo’er asked with a smile, her gaze lingering on Lu Fan for a moment before glancing at Jiang Ming.
"No, this is our first time here," Lu Fan said calmly.
Su Mo’er’s eyes lit up. She quickly turned to lead the way. "Then allow me to show you around. We have the latest E-Class sedans and some newly arrived GLC SUVs, both great choices for younger drivers. Is the car for you, or for this gentleman?"
She looked at Lu Fan as she gestured toward Jiang Ming.
Lu Fan answered, "It’s for him. We’re only interested in models you have in stock."
Su Mo’er nodded. She began her introduction as she walked, her pace of speech perfectly measured, both professional and graceful. "As for what we have in stock, we currently have three E-Class models—two black and one white. We have a wider selection of C-Class models in all colors. The S-Class requires a pre-order, which takes about a month."
Jiang Ming followed behind, his eyes dazzling as he looked at all the cars.
He had never been to a place like this before; every car was more expensive than he had imagined.
He saw the price tag on one car—870,000—and couldn’t help but gulp.
Hearing this, Lu Fan hesitated. "No S-Class models? They have to be ordered?"
’He had originally planned to buy Jiang Ming a Maybach, thinking an entry-level S480 would be a good fit.’
’After all, if he bought an S680, the kid probably wouldn’t be able to handle it.’
So he looked at Jiang Ming and said, "Why don’t we order an S-Class and pick it up in a month?"
Hearing this, Jiang Ming immediately shook his head and hurriedly refused. "No, no, that’s too expensive! That’s... that’s not okay."
He even said "no" several times in a row, as if afraid Lu Fan hadn’t heard him.
Seeing that Jiang Ming still seemed uncomfortable with the idea of driving such a high-end luxury car, Lu Fan walked around the showroom and stopped in front of a black E-Class sedan.
He turned his head and asked Jiang Ming, "How about this one?"
Jiang Ming looked at the car, then at the price tag, and swallowed. "It’s still too expensive..."
Lu Fan ignored him and asked Su Mo’er, "Do you have this one in stock?"
"Yes, we do. It just arrived yesterday. Black, with a brown interior. Please, take a look." Su Mo’er nodded quickly, opening the car door and inviting them to sit inside to get a feel for it.
Lu Fan, of course, didn’t need to get a feel for it. To him, an E-Class sedan was frankly a bit beneath him.
He gestured to Jiang Ming. "You get in and see how it feels."
So Jiang Ming sat in the driver’s seat. He gripped the steering wheel; it was leather and felt great in his hands.
’He’d never imagined he would ever sit in a car like this.’
Lu Fan stood outside the car. Seeing the happy look on his face, he asked, "Do you like it?"
