Chapter 410: Chapter 234: Lu Fan: Donating 5 Million to the Landscaping Department in Silu’s Name

Lu Fan walked over and gently stroked her hair. "Let’s go," he said softly.

Jiang Silu looked up at him, and fresh tears started to fall.

She threw herself into his arms, burying her face in his chest. Her voice was muffled and thick with tears as she said, "Dad, thank you."

Lu Fan patted her back, his voice as gentle as if he were soothing a small child. "Silly girl, there’s no need to thank your dad. I’m sorry you had to go through that."

Jiang Silu lifted her head from his chest, her eyes and the tip of her nose flushed red. She shook her head vigorously. "But Dad, you didn’t do anything wrong. Why are you apologizing?"

Lu Fan looked at her and said earnestly, "I promised you both I wouldn’t let you be wronged again. Today, you were wronged, and that means I failed to keep my promise."

Tears welled up in Jiang Silu’s eyes again. She buried her face in his chest and cried for a long time.

Her shoulders hitched with sobs, just like when she was a little girl who’d been wronged and would throw herself into her mother’s arms.

Jiang Sifan stood to the side, watching the scene unfold. ’It felt like something had slammed into his chest.’

’He remembered their childhood. Whenever his sister was bullied, he was always the one to rush to her defense.’

’He thought he could protect her.’

’But today, he hadn’t done a thing.’

’It was Lu Fan—the man he still refused to call Dad—who had stepped up to protect her in his place.’

He opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but no words came.

Lu Fan looked up at Jiang Sifan and smiled. "Come on, I’ll take you back to school."

Jiang Sifan nodded and followed behind them.

Jiang Silu walked beside Lu Fan, her hand still gripping his sleeve tightly.

Lu Fan didn’t pull his arm away, simply letting her hold on as he slowed his pace to match hers.

The three of them went downstairs.

Jiang Silu suddenly spoke, her voice soft. "Dad."

"Hm?"

"That guy, Zhao Tianyu... is he going to be detained?"

Lu Fan nodded. "He will. Seven days’ detention. That was my minimum demand."

Silu fell silent for a moment before saying quietly, "He didn’t actually do anything *that* bad... He just runs his mouth. If he hadn’t made those posts, I wouldn’t have hit him. It was wrong of me to hit him, too."

"The law will deliver a fair judgment for his actions. You don’t need to worry on his behalf. As for you hitting him, Officer Fang won’t be pressing charges." Lu Fan smiled, his tone gentle.

Jiang Silu nodded and said nothing more.

Soon, Lu Yao and the others waiting outside also found out what the outcome was.

They were all thrilled and excited.

Lu Yao even said angrily, "A guy like that should be thrown in jail!"

It was Lu Fan’s first time meeting Jiang Sifan’s dormmates. Seeing that they had made a special trip from school to help Silu, he said cheerfully, "Thank you for all your help."

Gao Lao and the others smiled awkwardly. "Honestly, we didn’t really do much to help."

"That’s not true. You came here to back Silu up, and that was the biggest help of all. It’s about dinnertime, so to show my gratitude, let me take you all out for a meal," Lu Fan offered.

Hearing they were being treated to a meal, the college students naturally brightened up.

Jiang Sifan watched as everyone’s expressions relaxed. They were all praising Lu Fan, and he could see the envy in their eyes—envy directed at him.

Gao Lao and the others thought it would be amazing to have a dad that cool.

’He suddenly realized that being rich was actually a good thing.’

’Money isn’t everything, but you can’t get by without it. If a girl from an ordinary family had been in this situation, the school and Zhao Tianyu’s family would have probably just swept the whole thing under the rug.’

’And this father of his... aside from being a womanizing asshole, he seemed to be a better person than most other rich people.’

’At that moment, he wanted to be rich, too.’

’Of course, with Jiang Sifan’s current mindset, he wanted to become a self-made man. But now, a seed had been planted—the idea that being the heir to a fortune wasn’t so bad after all.’
