Chapter 408: Chapter 234: Lu Fan: Donating 5 Million in Silu’s Name to the Landscaping Department

Mrs. Zhao shot back at Zhao Tianyu’s father, "What’s there to ask? Our son got hit! Are you even his father?"

The atmosphere in the conference room was terrifyingly quiet, the air as still as if it had frozen solid.

Director Wang from the Landscape Architecture Department was so angry his face turned red, and he was just about to speak.

But Lu Fan gently raised a hand, stopping him.

He sat beside Jiang Silu, not having said a word the entire time.

Lu Fan’s expression was calm, as if he were watching a play whose victorious outcome was already certain.

He turned his head and glanced at Jiali. The look was faint, but Jiali understood immediately.

Jiali walked forward, handed him a tablet, and leaned over to whisper a few words.

On the screen was a detailed file: Zhao Tianyu’s father’s name, his company’s name, registered capital, annual revenue, a list of partner suppliers, and even tax records from the last three years—all listed with perfect clarity, line by line.

Lu Fan scanned it, the corner of his mouth twitching slightly, then set the tablet down.

He looked at Zhao Tianyu and said in a level tone, "Give me your phone."

Zhao Tianyu froze for a moment, instinctively pulling his phone closer. Though he was afraid, he still managed to say, "Why should I? Who are you?"

Lu Fan didn’t reply, simply watching him.

His gaze wasn’t fierce or cold. It was like he was looking at an ant, tinged with a casual indifference.

But a chill suddenly ran down Zhao Tianyu’s spine, as if a bucket of ice water had been poured over his head.

He remembered the spectacle of Lu Fan arriving, the bodyguards in black suits standing like iron towers at the top of the stairs, and the obsequious tone people used when they called him "President Lu."

His fingers went slack.

The phone slid onto the tabletop with a soft clink.

Lu Fan picked up the phone, placed it on the table, and put it on speaker.

On the other end of the line, Mrs. Zhao was still yelling, "Son? Son, are you still there? Don’t be scared, Mom’s already booked a flight. I’ll be there tonight! I’d like to see who dares bully my son! Old Zhao, call Old Zhang—he’s a lawyer. Tell him to come, too!"

Lu Fan spoke, his voice not loud, but every word was crystal clear. "Mrs. Zhao, my daughter’s name is Jiang Silu. The person your son is slandering is my daughter. I am Jiang Silu’s father."

The other end of the line went silent for a second.

When Mrs. Zhao’s voice returned, it had lost some of its confidence, but she was still trying to sound tough. "So you’re the father of the girl who hit him? Good, you’re just the man I wanted to talk to! Let me tell you, this isn’t over! My son was beaten this badly, so you have to give us an explanation! Compensation! An apology! We want all of it!"

Lu Fan ignored her and picked up the tablet, slowly reading from it as if it were an ordinary document. "Zhao Deming, fifty-two years old, legal representative of Desheng Trading Co., Ltd. The company has a registered capital of five million, specializing in the import and export of building materials. Annual revenue is approximately thirty million. You have five partner suppliers, the largest being Hengchang Building Materials, with an annual purchase amount of twelve million. The contract expires next March."

The other end of the line suddenly went quiet.

When Mrs. Zhao spoke again, she was clearly flustered, her voice several shades quieter. "You... What do you mean by this? You’re investigating us? What right do you have to investigate us?"

"It doesn’t mean anything. I just like to be thorough. Know your enemy, know yourself, and you’ll never be defeated," Lu Fan said calmly.

A rustling sound came from the other end, as if the phone had been snatched away.

The father’s voice came on the line—low, wary, and tense. "Sir, this is Zhao Deming. You’ve been investigating me? What is the meaning of this?"

"President Zhao, no need to be nervous. I’m just the kind of person who likes to get the facts straight before I act. Your son slandered my daughter online, making over a dozen posts that got more than ten thousand views. He pushed her to the point where she slapped him in the classroom, which he has admitted. He’s also admitted to fabricating the rumors. I have the surveillance footage, screenshots, and the IP address. Would you like me to send them over?"

Lu Fan chuckled, a hint of contempt in his voice.

Zhao Deming was silent for a few seconds. When he spoke again, his voice was softer, his tone conciliatory. "Sir, it’s normal for kids to have conflicts. As parents, there’s no need to blow this out of proportion. How about this? I’ll have him apologize and delete the posts, and we’ll let this go. He’s just a kid. Kids don’t know any better."

Lu Fan didn’t answer, instead glancing at Jiali.

The look was faint, but Jiali understood immediately.

She tapped the tablet twice, her movements crisp and efficient.

Zhao Deming’s phone rang. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

He answered it. After a few words from the other side, his voice changed completely, filled with disbelief. "What did you say? Hengchang is terminating our partnership? But the contract isn’t up yet! Hello? Hello?!"

The call ended.

When Zhao Deming spoke again, his tone was entirely different, laced with obvious panic. "Sir, let’s talk this through. The boy was being foolish. I’ll apologize on his behalf. You’re a bigger man than this; please don’t lower yourself to a child’s level. I’ll have him apologize in person and delete the posts immediately..."

Lu Fan cut him off, his voice calm. "President Zhao, my terms are simple. First, your son will publicly apologize in front of the entire school, admit he fabricated the rumors, and explain exactly what happened from start to finish. Second, for slander, a seven-day administrative detention shouldn’t be a problem. Let him go to the detention center and reflect on what he’s done."

Before Zhao Deming could speak, Mrs. Zhao’s voice exploded over the phone again, her fury palpable even from a distance. "An apology is fine! But why should he be punished? We haven’t even talked about my son getting hit! Is it not a crime for her to hit someone? You’re just bullying us!"

Beside them, Zhao Tianyu grew frantic and shouted at the phone, "Mom! I don’t want to go to detention! You have to come! Dad, come quick! They’re going to lock me up!"
