Chapter 407: Chapter 234: Lu Fan: Donating 5 Million to the Landscape Architecture Department in Silu’s Name
Just then, footsteps echoed from the end of the hallway, and two uniformed police officers appeared at the top of the stairs.
The one in the lead was in his forties. His surname was Fang, and he had a kind face but sharp eyes.
He glanced at the people in the hallway and asked, "Who called the police?"
Zhao Tianyu, as if clutching a life-saving straw, quickly raised his hand. His voice jumped an octave. "Me! I did! This woman hit me!"
He was clutching his face. That side of his face was still red, the handprint so clear it looked like it had been carved on.
Officer Fang looked at his face. Naturally, he wouldn’t take a student’s word for it, so he asked the others around them, "Where are the school’s teachers? What’s going on here?"
Zhao Tianyu cut in, "She rushed into the classroom and slapped me for no reason! Everyone saw it! I’m going to hold her legally responsible! I want my injuries documented! This is intentional assault!"
Jiang Silu’s hands were still trembling with anger. Even though Lu Fan and her brother were there, as the victim, she still stepped forward to speak for herself. "He slandered me. He made posts online saying I was two-timing people, using guys as ATMs, and even that I was in an inappropriate relationship with a teacher. The posts aren’t all deleted yet, and I have screenshots of everything."
Officer Fang frowned and looked at Zhao Tianyu. "Is this true?" ℯℯ𝑙.
Zhao Tianyu’s eyes darted around. He stubbornly insisted, "I... I was just joking. What’s wrong with saying a few things online? But the fact is, she hit someone!"
At that moment, Principal Liu took the initiative to speak to Officer Fang. "Officer Fang, I’m the vice-principal of Jinling University, my surname is Liu. Why don’t we go to my office to talk instead of standing here in the hallway?"
Officer Fang knew this was the university’s way of trying to smooth things over and keep the incident quiet.
Principal Liu quickly led the way, his back bent low and sweat already beading on his forehead.
Director Wang of the Landscape Architecture Department, Director Li of the Electronics Department, and Teacher Chen all followed them inside.
Jiang Sifan held Jiang Silu’s hand, walking beside her. He could feel that her hand was ice-cold.
Lu Fan walked at the very back, his pace unhurried. His leather shoes made a steady, solid sound on the floor.
Chen He and Jiali followed behind him like two moving walls.
As for Lu Yao, Song Miaomiao, and Gao Lao, being students, they could only wait outside.
The office was large, and people were seated on both sides of a long table.
Principal Liu sat at the head of the table. To his left were Director Wang and Director Li, and to his right were Officer Fang and his colleague.
Zhao Tianyu sat at the other end of the long table, far away from Jiang Silu, but his eyes kept darting in her direction, filled with hatred.
Officer Fang was the first to speak, his tone strictly business. "Zhao Tianyu, you said she hit you. Do you have any evidence?"
Zhao Tianyu pointed to his own face and replied, "This is the evidence! There were so many people in the classroom, they all saw it! You can ask them! This is intentional assault. I want her detained!"
"Why did you hit him?" Officer Fang nodded and then asked Jiang Silu.
Jiang Silu took a deep breath and explained everything from the beginning: from him trying to hit on her, to her deleting him as a friend, to the secretly taken photos on the confession wall, to the slanderous rumors on the forum.
She was very clear, laying out the times, locations, and screenshots, one by one.
By the end, her voice was trembling slightly, but she still managed to finish her account.
After listening, Officer Fang looked at Zhao Tianyu. "Is what she said true?"
Jiang Sifan added from the side, "We’ve already traced the IP address. It’s from his dorm. The confession wall has records too. You deleted the post, but the server backend has a backup. Should we pull it up?"
Zhao Tianyu’s face turned pale, and he was suddenly flustered.
Just as Officer Fang was about to speak, Zhao Tianyu’s phone rang.
He glanced at the caller ID and quickly answered, his voice cracking on the verge of tears. "Mom..."
The voice on the other end of the line was so loud that everyone in the conference room could hear it clearly.
"Son! Who hit you? How’s your face? Does it hurt?" Mrs. Zhao’s voice was sharp and frantic, yet there seemed to be a hint of contempt in her tone.
Zhao Tianyu’s tears really started to fall. "Mom, you have to come quickly! A whole group of them is ganging up on me, and they’re threatening to sue me! This woman slapped me, and my face is all swollen! Hurry up and come!"
Mrs. Zhao exploded. "Sue you? For what? They’re the ones who hit someone, and they think they’re in the right? You just wait, Mom’s flying over right now! I’d like to see who dares to bully my son! Old Zhao, book the tickets! Now!"
"Zhao Tianyu’s parent, this is the vice-principal of Jinling University, surnamed Liu. The matter is still under investigation, so please don’t get upset. We will definitely handle this fairly..." Principal Liu quickly interjected, trying to keep his tone gentle.
Mrs. Zhao cut him off, her tone as abrasive as a shrew’s. "Fairly? How are you being fair? My son was beaten like this, and instead of arresting the one who did it, you’re investigating my son? Is this how your university operates? Believe it or not, I’ll call the media and expose you all!"
Principal Liu was left speechless. His expression was grim as he picked up his teacup and then set it back down.
Hearing how forceful his mother was, Zhao Tianyu straightened his back. His voice grew louder as he wiped away his tears. "Mom, hurry up and come! They want to sue me for slander! I didn’t slander anyone, I just said a few things. So many people talk online, why are they only coming after me?"
"Slander? What slander? If she didn’t do it, what’s there to be afraid of people talking about? My son was just telling the truth! Principal Liu, I’m telling you, this isn’t over! The Zhao Family isn’t to be trifled with! Old Zhao, say something, will you!" Mrs. Zhao shouted through the phone, her voice growing louder and louder.
Old Zhao’s voice came from the other end of the line, low and somewhat hesitant. "Don’t be so rash. Let’s get a clear picture of what’s going on..."
