Chapter 395: Chapter 230: Lu Fan Takes Sifan to Yixia’s Hometown
The VIP lounge was ridiculously large. A thick carpet covered the floor, muffling any sound from their footsteps.
The sofas were genuine leather—wide, soft, and so plush you sank right into them.
Fresh flowers and fruit were arranged on the coffee tables. The flowers were fresh lilies, their petals still glistening with water droplets.
In the corner stood a bar, with all sorts of drinks, snacks, and fruits laid out neatly. There were seven or eight kinds of juice alone.
Several uniformed attendants smiled and nodded as they entered. One of them approached and quietly asked if they would like anything to drink.
Wen Wan stood at the entrance, not daring to step inside.
She had never seen a place like this. The carpet beneath her feet was so soft it felt like walking on clouds, and she was afraid she might lose her footing.
Jiang Sifan also seemed a bit uncomfortable. He hesitated for a moment, then glanced at Jiali.
Jiali looked back at them and said with a smile, "Come on in and sit down. Don’t be shy. There’s a buffet, so help yourselves to whatever you like. There are even showers over there if you’re tired and want to freshen up."
"Is... is all of this free?" Wen Wan asked in a small voice.
Jiali nodded. "It’s available to all business class passengers. It’s included in the ticket price."
Wen Wan and Jiang Sifan glanced at each other, not knowing what to say.
They took a seat by the window. Wen Wan sank into the sofa, which was so soft it felt like sitting on a cloud.
She didn’t dare to relax, afraid she might break the sofa, so she sat bolt upright.
Jiang Sifan was also a little reserved. He looked around and saw a few people sitting at the bar drinking coffee. Some were reading newspapers, others were working on their laptops. Everyone was quiet.
Jiali brought over two glasses of juice and placed them in front of them. "Have something to drink. They serve food on the plane, but the selection here is much better. Feel free to get whatever you want. Don’t be formal."
Wen Wan cradled the glass with both hands. The juice was freshly squeezed, cool and sweet.
She sipped it slowly, her eyes fixed on the world outside the window.
Several planes, large and small, were parked on the tarmac. Ground staff bustled about below.
Sunlight glinted off their fuselages.
She had never seen airplanes from this angle before.
Jiang Sifan sat beside her, silent, simply keeping her company.
Lu Fan came out of the restroom and saw them sitting by the window. He walked over and sat down next to them.
He was wearing a thin, dark blue jacket and looked sharp.
"Nervous?" he asked Wen Wan, his tone as casual as if he were just making small talk.
Wen Wan shook her head, then nodded, and said softly, "A little."
Lu Fan chuckled, his voice gentle. "Don’t be scared. We’re here with you. As for your grandfather, I’ve already had Chen He look into it. Once we get there, we’ll arrange a hospital transfer if needed and bring in specialists. You don’t need to worry."
Wen Wan nodded, her eyes turning red again. "Thank you, Uncle Lu."
Lu Fan shook his head and comforted her, "There’s no need to thank me. You’ve helped Sifan so much, it’s only right that I help you."
Hearing Lu Fan’s words, Jiang Sifan didn’t say anything, but he felt a little touched.
When it was time to board, they used a separate jet bridge.
No lines, no crowds.
A flight attendant stood at the cabin door, greeting them with a smile. Her voice was as gentle as if she were soothing a child. "Hello, passengers. Welcome aboard."
The business class seats were huge and could be reclined completely flat.
Each seat had its own small reading lamp, a storage compartment, a bottle of mineral water, and a small box of snacks.
The screen displayed the day’s menu. There were several options, with three different appetizers alone.
Wen Wan sat in the window seat, with Jiang Sifan next to her.
She touched the leather surface of the seat. It was smooth and soft.
She looked out the window again. The planes on the tarmac were growing smaller.
She took a deep breath, her hand unconsciously tightening on the armrest.
Jiang Sifan glanced at her, then reached out and gently took her hand.
She froze for a moment and turned to look at him.
He didn’t say anything, just gave her hand a light squeeze before turning to look out the window.
Wen Wan lowered her head and didn’t pull her hand away.
As the plane took off, she squeezed his hand tightly.
He didn’t let go.
After the plane leveled off, a flight attendant came by with a meal cart and asked softly, "Ma’am, what would you like for your main course? We have steak, cod, and chicken."
Wen Wan froze, unsure of what to choose.
Jiang Sifan answered for her, "The chicken, thank you."
The flight attendant placed a tray in front of her, then set one down for Jiang Sifan.
The plates were porcelain, and the cutlery was metal, heavy in her hands.
There was also a small dish of fruit, a cup of yogurt, and a roll, which was still warm.
Wen Wan picked up her fork and put a small piece of chicken in her mouth.
It was tender and flavorful, more delicious than anything she had ever eaten at the school cafeteria.
She ate slowly, her eyes turning red again.
Jiang Sifan looked at her and asked softly, "What’s wrong? Is it not good?"
"No, it’s just... I feel like I’m being too much trouble. Uncle Lu is helping me so much, and I..." Wen Wan shook her head, her face flushing.
Jiang Sifan comforted her, "Don’t overthink it. He wants to help you, so just accept it. He’s not the kind of person who expects anything in return for his charity."
Wen Wan nodded and lowered her head, continuing to eat.
She finished everything on her plate, not leaving a single bite.
Lu Fan, who was sitting in the row ahead, glanced back at them.
Jiang Sifan was handing a napkin to Wen Wan, who took it, her cheeks still red.
Seeing this, Lu Fan smiled and turned back around.
It was already afternoon when the plane landed.
After they exited the airport, Chen He had a car ready and waiting.
A black van was waiting at the curb, and the driver helped put their luggage inside.
