Chapter 390: Chapter 229: Mother-in-law Puts Jiang Yixia’s Hand in Lu Fan’s

Soon.

Pan Lanfang was discharged from the hospital.

In the VIP room at Donghua Hospital, Pan Lanfang had already changed into her own clothes.

She wore a dark red, floral-print jacket, her hair was neatly combed, and she seemed even more spirited than before she was hospitalized.

She sat on the edge of the bed, clutching her phone and glancing at the door from time to time.

"Mom, don’t worry. Xiaolu said he’ll be here any minute," Jiang Yixia said, standing by the window with a packed duffel bag.

Pan Lanfang chuckled. "I’m not worried, I’m not worried. I’ve just been lying here for so many days that I’m eager to get some fresh air. This hospital is nice, but there’s no place like home."

Nearby, Jiang Guoqiang was putting a thermos into a bag, muttering, "You have to be careful when we get home. You can’t fall again. If it weren’t for Xiaolu this time, we never could have afforded such a nice hospital."

"I know, I know. You’ve been nagging me all morning." Pan Lanfang shot him a look.

Jiang Guoqiang chuckled sheepishly and fell silent.

The door opened, and Dean Jin walked in with two doctors. He was holding a bouquet of flowers and had a wide smile on his face. "Auntie, congratulations on your discharge! You’ve recovered well these past few days. Remember to rest at home and come back for your follow-up appointments."

Pan Lanfang quickly stood up, took the flowers, and beamed. "Thank you, Dean Jin. Thank you all. I’m sorry to have troubled you these past few days."

Dean Jin waved his hand dismissively, his tone extremely polite. "No trouble at all, Auntie, you’re too kind. President Lu specifically instructed us that your business is our hospital’s business. If you feel unwell after you go home, please don’t hesitate to call us anytime."

As he spoke, he handed over a business card that had not only the hospital’s phone number but also his own personal number.

Jiang Guoqiang took it, his hands trembling.

’He’d never in his life seen a hospital dean give a patient his personal number.’

"All the doctors and nurses at your hospital are wonderful. They took such great care of me, especially that Nurse Xiao Zhang. She came to tuck me in every night," Pan Lanfang said gratefully, handing the flowers to Jiang Yixia and taking Dean Jin’s hand.

Dean Jin smiled and nodded. "It’s our duty, of course."

Just then, footsteps could be heard from the hallway.

Lu Fan pushed the door open and came in. He was wearing a light gray jacket and carrying two bags—one with snacks for Pan Lanfang to eat on the way, and the other with tea for Jiang Guoqiang.

"Auntie, sorry I’m late." He set the bags down and walked to the bedside.

Pan Lanfang took his hand, her smile growing even wider. "Not late at all, you’re right on time. Xiaolu, you’ve worked so hard these past few days, running to the hospital all the time."

Lu Fan chuckled. "It was no trouble. I’m just happy you’re being discharged."

Seeing this, Dean Jin tactfully excused himself with the doctors, saying as he left, "Take care of yourself, Auntie."

The room fell silent.

Pan Lanfang looked at Lu Fan, then at Jiang Yixia, and suddenly said, "Xiaolu, you and Yixia go wait outside for a bit. I need to have a word with Uncle."

Yixia was taken aback for a moment. "Mom, is there something you can’t say in front of us?"

"It’s old people’s business. You young folks wouldn’t understand. Now go on, go on." Pan Lanfang waved her hand, smiling.

Lu Fan glanced at Yixia, smiled, and headed out the door first.

Yixia had no choice but to follow, pulling the door closed behind her.

Only the old couple remained in the room. Pan Lanfang tugged on Jiang Guoqiang’s sleeve and whispered, "Old man, don’t you think Yixia and Xiaolu are starting to look more and more like a married couple?"

"What are you scheming now?" Jiang Guoqiang paused for a second, then chuckled.

Pan Lanfang shot him a glare and said reproachfully, "What do you mean, what am I scheming? Haven’t you seen it? The way Xiaolu looks at Yixia is different from how he looks at anyone else. And it’s the same when Yixia looks at him."

Jiang Guoqiang thought for a moment and nodded. "You have a point. That kid, Xiaolu, is a really great guy."

"Then what are you waiting for?" Pan Lanfang slapped his hand. "When we go out, you need to say something. Our daughter’s a grown woman; she can’t keep acting so aloof. A guy as good as Xiaolu... if we let him slip away, where would we ever find another one like him?"

Jiang Guoqiang looked troubled. "What would I say? I’m not good with words."

Pan Lanfang furrowed her brow and coached him, "Just say, ’Xiaolu, from now on, we’re entrusting Yixia to you. You have to treat her well.’"

Jiang Guoqiang grew awkward and rubbed his hands together. "That’s... that’s not a good idea, is it? What if Yixia isn’t okay with it?"

"Don’t you know your own daughter? She talks tough, but she’s soft-hearted. If she wasn’t interested, would she let him hang around her every day?" Pan Lanfang said, getting anxious.

Jiang Guoqiang thought about it, realized she was right, and nodded. "Alright, I’ll give it a try."

Out in the hallway, Jiang Yixia was leaning against the wall, looking down at her phone.

Lu Fan stood beside her, not saying a word, simply keeping her company.

After a moment, Yixia looked up at him. "Have you been busy the last couple of days? I haven’t seen you at the hospital."

Lu Fan chuckled. "Yeah, I had a few things to take care of. What, did you miss me?"

’I can’t tell Yixia yet that I bought her a villa.’

"Who missed you? I was just asking," Yixia muttered.

Lu Fan didn’t call her out on it and just laughed. "I won’t be busy tomorrow. When does your flower shop open? I’ll come help."

"No, thanks. I can handle it myself." Yixia turned her face away, her voice quiet.

Lu Fan moved a little closer, a smile in his voice. "I know you can handle it, but I want to help. Can I?"

Yixia didn’t answer, but the tips of her ears turned red.

The hospital room door opened, and Pan Lanfang poked her head out, calling to them, "Come on in. Everything’s packed up."

The discharge procedures were completed quickly.

Dean Jin personally saw them off downstairs, and several nurses came to say goodbye as well. Nurse Xiao Zhang even told her, "Auntie, come back and visit often."

Pan Lanfang took her hand and chuckled. "Returning to a hospital isn’t exactly a happy occasion. Why would I want to visit often?"
