Chapter 386: Chapter 228: Lu Fan: I’m Handing the Company Over to Silu and Sifan

In the living room of Zijin Manor, the soft light of the crystal chandelier spilled down, bathing the entire space in warm, bright light.

Jiang Sifan sat on the sofa, his back ramrod straight. He placed his hands on his knees, clenched his fists, then relaxed them.

He felt he should relax a bit, but his body wouldn’t listen.

He recalled his conversation with Wen Wan at the studio that morning about his trip to the manor.

"Wen Wan, I’m going to the manor tomorrow," he had said, putting down his pen to look at her.

Wen Wan looked up and asked softly, "The manor? To see Uncle Lu?"

He nodded, hesitated for a moment, and then replied, "Silu said I should go thank him in person. For everything he’s done—the thing with Sister Jiali, the studio, and... that incident with Lin Qiang. He was the one helping behind the scenes for all of it."

Wen Wan looked at him and nodded reassuringly. "Okay, Class President."

"Do you want to come with me?" he asked.

Wen Wan paused, taken aback for a second. Then she shook her head, her voice calm. "I don’t think I should. That’s a moment for your family to reunite. It would be awkward for me to be there. Besides, Silu must have a lot she wants to talk to you about."

He opened his mouth as if to say something, but then swallowed his words.

He knew Wen Wan was right.

His visit to thank Lu Fan was a family matter. It really wasn’t appropriate for her to be there.

But the more understanding she was, the more it weighed on him.

"Then I’ll have to trouble you with the studio tomorrow," Sifan replied.

Wen Wan looked up and gave him a smile. "Don’t worry, Class President. I can handle it."

When she smiled, her eyes sparkled.

Watching her, Jiang Sifan’s heart suddenly softened.

He didn’t say anything, just lowered his head and went back to looking at the reports.

Wen Wan didn’t speak either, returning to the account books.

The studio was quiet, filled only with the rustle of pen on paper and the ticking of the clock on the wall.

Jiang Sifan had glanced at her several times back then, but Wen Wan never noticed.

"Brother, what are you thinking about?" Jiang Silu’s voice pulled him back to the present.

Jiang Sifan snapped out of his reverie and saw his sister tilting her head to look at him, her eyes full of curiosity.

"Nothing," Jiang Sifan explained.

Jiang Silu didn’t press him. She picked up a glass of juice, handed it to him, and reminded him, "Have something to drink first. Dad is still on his way, he’ll be here soon."

Jiang Sifan took the juice and had a sip.

It was freshly squeezed orange juice, sweet and cool.

"Brother, why didn’t Sister Wen Wan come?" Jiang Silu suddenly asked.

Jiang Sifan replied, "She said it’s our family’s business and it would be awkward for her to be here."

Jiang Silu paused for a moment, then laughed. "Sister Wen Wan is so nice. She’s always thinking of others."

Jiang Sifan nodded without a word, but he was happy inside to hear Jiang Silu praise and approve of Wen Wan.

Old Luo came out from the kitchen carrying a plate of pastries. He placed it on the coffee table and said with a smile, "Young Master, Young Miss, have something to tide you over. The boss is on his way back and will be here shortly."

Jiang Silu picked up a piece of osmanthus cake and took a bite, her eyes narrowing in delight. She said to Jiang Sifan, "Brother, you have to try this. It’s delicious. The manor’s chef made it. It’s so much better than what they sell outside."

Jiang Sifan took a piece and put it in his mouth.

The osmanthus cake was soft, sweet but not cloying, with a delicate fragrance of osmanthus.

As he chewed slowly, he suddenly recalled the last time at the manor, when Old Luo had served those dishes: bluefin tuna belly, premium dried abalone, freshly shaved white truffle, A5 Kobe beef, and Middle Eastern caviar paired with champagne.

They were all heavy hitters.

And they were all exceptionally delicious.

And now, even a small pastry like this was made so exquisitely.

’It seems every chef at this manor is a master of their craft,’ he thought.

"Brother, should I give you another tour?" Jiang Silu asked, standing up after finishing her cake.

Jiang Sifan was a little exasperated. "Didn’t I already see it last time?"

Jiang Silu paid him no mind, grabbing his sleeve and pulling him toward the stairs. "Last time was last time, and this time is this time. Come on."

Jiang Sifan let himself be dragged upstairs.

Jiang Silu spoke as they walked, a hint of pride in her voice. "Brother, look at this hallway. The floors are solid wood; they don’t make a sound when you walk on them. And all these paintings on the wall are originals. Dad said they were painted by an Italian artist."

Hearing the word "Dad" roll so naturally off his sister’s tongue made Jiang Sifan’s heart tremble slightly.

He said nothing and continued to follow her.

Jiang Silu pushed open the door to her room, stood in the doorway, and looked back at him. "Brother, look. This is my room."

Jiang Sifan walked in and looked around.

The room was huge, with stars and clouds painted on the pale pink, domed ceiling.

A large bed sat in the very center, with gauze curtains gently draping down, just like something out of a fairy tale.

Jiang Silu stood by the window, gazing at the view outside. Her voice grew softer. "Brother, you know, when I was little, I always wanted my own room. It didn’t have to be big, just enough for a bed and a desk. But our home was too small. When we were kids, I had to share a room with you."

Jiang Sifan didn’t say anything.

Jiang Silu turned to him and smiled. "Now I have one. It’s a little too big, but I think it’s great. Dad said he had it specially designed by someone. He started preparing it the day he found out about me."

Hearing this, Jiang Sifan felt as if something had gently nudged his heart.

He thought of his own room, of the signed sneakers and the basketball hoop.

Jiang Silu walked up to him, tilted her head back to look up at him, and said softly, "Brother, you have your own room, too. It’s right next to mine, and it’s even bigger. It has a basketball hoop, signed sneakers, and floor-to-ceiling windows. He’s had it ready for you for a long time. He’s been waiting for you to come."
