Chapter 239: Chapter 175: Lu Fan Transfers Money to Wen Wan! Establishes a Startup Fund for Sifan
That evening.
After returning to his dorm and taking a shower, Jiang Sifan sent a message to the shop owners who had shown interest.
"Hello, Boss Zhou. Have you had a chance to discuss the bookkeeping collaboration with your wife? Alternatively, we could try a one-month trial first. If you’re happy with the service, we could then arrange a six-month or one-year contract. After all, the discounts are better for long-term partnerships."
Before long, Boss Zhou replied: "Hello, Jiang Tongxue. I just discussed it with my wife. We’ll probably be able to make a decision tomorrow. Sorry about that."
Jiang Sifan: "Alright, no problem. I’ll contact you again tomorrow."
Next, he messaged the other two interested shop owners.
After sending them the same pitch, he waited anxiously.
It wasn’t long before one of them replied: "Sorry, we don’t need the service for now."
Although Jiang Sifan felt a little disappointed seeing the message, he still replied politely: "No problem. If you change your mind later, feel free to reach out anytime."
"Okay."
Over the course of the evening, Jiang Sifan discovered that the shopkeepers who had been interested during the day were now either still considering it or had rejected his offer outright.
He found this a bit strange.
The last time, a large number of shops had suddenly pulled out of the collaboration at the last minute. This time, he’d already reached a tentative agreement with three or four of them, but they had all backed out in the end.
This left Jiang Sifan confused, wondering what the reason could be.
Fortunately, Boss Zhou from the convenience store hadn’t rejected him yet.
He decided to visit the convenience store again tomorrow to try and secure the deal.
「The next morning.」
After class, Jiang Sifan said to Wen Wan, "Wen Wan, you don’t need to go to the studio today. You should rest. I can go handle the accounts."
Hearing this, Wen Wan shook her head. "No, that’s too tiring for you. I should go."
"Be good." Jiang Sifan’s tone was almost commanding as he said, "You have to listen to me. You need to get more rest!"
On the receiving end of this domineering form of care, Wen Wan blushed and nodded.
After Jiang Sifan left, she broke into a shy smile.
In truth, she really liked it when Jiang Sifan treated her this way.
It even made Wen Wan wonder if there was something wrong with her.
She even looked it up online.
According to what she found, it was generally caused by a lack of care from one’s family of origin, leading to an extreme craving for affection.
The more commanding and domineering the love, the more valued it made her feel.
Wen Wan thought about it and felt that it was probably true.
Still, she wanted to do something for Jiang Sifan, so she decided to go to the library and find him some books on entrepreneurial ideas.
Just as she arrived at the library, her phone rang.
Wen Wan saw that the call was from her mother and immediately felt a surge of panic.
Right now, a call from her mother was the thing she dreaded most.
But she couldn’t not answer.
After a moment of hesitation, Wen Wan finally answered the call.
"Hello, Mom."
The middle-aged woman on the other end of the line asked anxiously, "Daughter, do you have any money left?"
Wen Wan said helplessly, "Mom, I already told you yesterday. I don’t have any money. I don’t even have enough for my living expenses."
"But didn’t you tell me you started a business? Shouldn’t a business bring in a lot of money?" Mrs. Wen demanded.
Wen Wan was starting to regret it now.
At the time, she had just wanted to make small talk with her mother and tell her about her daily life at school.
She had also made it clear that the start-up project wasn’t hers; she was just lending a hand.
But in her mother’s eyes, this meant she was earning money now.
And if she was earning money, she had to send it home.
Wen Wan had no choice but to explain, "Mom, that start-up was my class monitor’s idea. I’m just helping him out, and he pays me a salary."
"Then what about your salary?" Mrs. Wen pressed.
"I already gave it to you, didn’t I? A few days ago?" Wen Wan said, exasperated.
"You gave it to me a few days ago, but was that all? Shouldn’t a start-up make a lot of money?"
Wen Wan didn’t know if her mother was genuinely clueless or just pretending to be.
How could a college start-up possibly have the same kind of daily revenue as a factory?
Wen Wan could only ask, "So how much do you need?"
"Not much. Just six hundred yuan will do."
"Is the several thousand yuan I gave you last time already gone?" Wen Wan asked, confused.
Mrs. Wen replied, "Last time, I used it to pay for your father’s doctor visit, sign your younger brother up for a basketball class, and then buy him a few new outfits. There wasn’t much left after that."
"Dad is injured now and there’s no income, so you shouldn’t be buying new clothes for my brother. We should wait until we get through this tough period," Wen Wan said. Although she was good-tempered, hearing her mother’s words made her feel upset and sad.
Mrs. Wen explained, "You know how fast kids grow. He can’t wear last year’s winter clothes anymore. Besides, in the countryside, won’t people laugh at us if we don’t buy new clothes for our son?"
Hearing this, Wen Wan could only say, "I’ll see what I can do."
"Daughter, this isn’t about ’seeing what you can do.’ You *have* to give the money to me. I’m a housewife with no education. Your father was our only source of income, and now he needs to rest for two months. The entire family’s expenses are on you now," Mrs. Wen said in a near-forceful tone.
"I know."
After hanging up, Wen Wan stared blankly ahead, feeling dejected.
’I already borrowed so much money from the class monitor last time. I absolutely can’t ask him again this time.’
But besides the class monitor, Wen Wan didn’t know who else to turn to.
After racking her brain, Wen Wan thought of Uncle Lu.
’But Jiang Sifan and Uncle Lu have such a bad relationship... if he finds out I went to Uncle Lu for help, will he be angry?’
