Chapter 238: Chapter 175: Lu Fan Transfers Money to Wen Wan! A Startup Fund for Sifan
Jiang Sifan was still running on pure adrenaline.
Taking advantage of their day off on Sunday, he and Wen Wan visited several new shops.
Quite a few shop owners expressed interest.
One of the female owners started venting, "Sometimes the accounting gives me such a headache. All this inventory, incoming and outgoing stock... Even though we use computers now, and my son taught me how to use that... what’s it called... Excel spreadsheet, I’m still not very good at it."
She said frankly, "I’ll discuss it with my husband and see if we want to hire you guys."
Jiang Sifan was delighted. "Great, no problem."
After leaving the shop, he looked at Wen Wan excitedly. "I can’t believe our sales pitch went so smoothly today."
Wen Wan nodded happily as well. "Yeah. If we can steadily add a few new shops every week, I’m sure we’ll be back at the top of our game in no time."
But Jiang Sifan laughed at himself. "Forget it, forget it. I’m not thinking that big anymore. I’ve lowered my standards. As long as we can stay profitable each month, that’ll be good enough."
Wen Wan felt gratified to see how much more down-to-earth Jiang Sifan had become.
But she also offered encouragement. "Don’t worry. I believe we can definitely grow bigger and stronger."
"Haha, I can’t believe how our roles have reversed. I used to be the one making all the big promises, and now you’re the one motivating me," Jiang Sifan teased.
Just as the two were dreaming about the future, Wen Wan glanced at her phone, and her expression gradually grew solemn.
Seeing her expression, Jiang Sifan asked curiously, "Wen Wan, what’s wrong?"
"It’s nothing. I need to make a call." With that, Wen Wan took a couple of steps forward and dialed a number.
Although Jiang Sifan knew Wen Wan didn’t want him to overhear, he still faintly caught a few words.
He could see that Wen Wan, on the phone, was clearly upset.
"I don’t have any more money..."
"That was borrowed from a classmate."
"Is he really taking that many tutoring classes? Can he even handle it?"
After a few minutes, Wen Wan finally hung up.
She composed herself, then walked up to Jiang Sifan with a smile. "Let’s go to the next one."
"Wen Wan, are you really okay?" Jiang Sifan asked with concern.
Wen Wan just shook her head. "I’m fine."
"If something’s wrong, you have to tell me. Don’t try to carry it all by yourself." Jiang Sifan worried that her parents were asking for money again. If that was the case, he figured at worst, he could let Wen Wan use the partnership fees they had just collected.
’But that’s no real solution.’
’Don’t her parents know she’s just a college freshman?’
’It’s impressive enough that she doesn’t ask them for living expenses; how could they think of taking money from her?’
’It’s just too outrageous.’
But it was Wen Wan’s family matter, after all, so Jiang Sifan felt it wasn’t his place to say much.
Then, they arrived at a convenience store.
Since the convenience store was near a middle school,
its daily revenue was quite high.
Jiang Sifan had scouted the place beforehand and was confident the owner would be interested in their services.
When he walked in, the shop owner asked, "What can I get for you?"
Jiang Sifan pulled out a card and introduced himself earnestly. "Hello, sir. I’m a freshman at Jinling Institute of Technology. My name is Jiang Sifan. I’m currently starting my own business—I’ve founded a studio for bookkeeping and tax filing. I was wondering if you might be interested in such a service?"
"Bookkeeping and tax filing?" The owner was a little curious. "What’s that all about?"
Seeing the owner seemed interested, Jiang Sifan immediately explained using the most concise language possible.
He knew that if his pitch was too long-winded, these shop owners would lose patience.
Making them understand his business in the shortest amount of time was the top priority.
Sure enough, after two minutes, the shop owner nodded in understanding. "Oh, so that’s how it is. That sounds pretty good."
Jiang Sifan seized the opportunity. "If you’re interested, how about we exchange contact info? I can send you some success stories from our other clients. We’re already working with nine shops at the moment."
"That’s impressive. All right." The owner nodded and took out his phone.
"And your surname, sir?"
"My surname is Zhou."
"Boss Zhou, I’ve sent you a request. Could you please accept it?"
"Okay, okay. I’m busy right now. Let’s talk more tonight."
"Okay. Goodbye, Boss Zhou."
With that, Jiang Sifan left with Wen Wan.
The two of them were still quite excited, thinking about how smoothly their business had gone that day.
At least no one had chased them out on the spot.
’Even if we only sign one new partner a day, that’s six or seven a week.’
’Give it some time, and maybe all the shops around Jinling Institute of Technology will be doing business with our studio.’
But just as they were leaving, Xu Junjie arrived at that same convenience store with two companions.
Boss Zhou had just sat back down when Xu Junjie asked enthusiastically, "Boss, need bookkeeping and tax filing services?"
Hearing this, Boss Zhou was taken aback. "Someone just left who was pitching the same service."
"He’s my junior. He’s just starting out, so his operation is pretty small. My studio, on the other hand, is already quite established. We have the scale, we’re familiar with all aspects of the business, and most importantly, since we’ve brought our costs down, our discounts are huge. Why don’t I tell you about it?"
Having spent two years in the Dual Innovation Department, and being a college junior, Xu Junjie was naturally a much smoother talker than Jiang Sifan.
And just like that, Boss Zhou added his contact information.
