Chapter 542: Chapter 540:Death...

The tower came to a slow stop as it exited warp drive just outside the region connecting to the circular galactic cluster of the Eruvine family’s domain.

The view from this close was even more stunning, but that wasn’t what caught my attention this time, as right before us stood not an armada of ships. Not a gathering of warheads or weapons—no, right before us stood ten figures.

They were dressed in pristine white robes, their hair a pure white that seemed to glow with a faint luster. Their eyes were a pure and blinding green that shone with vibrant vitality.

They were beautiful. Too beautiful—not my usual type of beautiful, but beautiful nonetheless.

Yet, what stood out more than their looks would be their auras.

"World-seed, huh?" They were world-seed level powerhouses, and people who seemed to have gone pretty far in their progression for their world seeds, as I could feel multiple of them with half a foot into the early world core stages of power.

"Dear guests from afar," the leading figure, a woman in white robes, called out once again, "please, do not make this more difficult than it needs to be."

Credit where it’s due. They hadn’t outright chosen the violent method of resolving things and had gone the diplomatic route instead, whether that was because they were mindful of their actions or just truly capable of discerning certain situations remained to be seen, but for now—

"Let’s go." With a thought, I disappeared from the hall we’d been in—our makeshift control room—appearing right before the welcome party.

...

"Now, what do we have here?" I asked, amused.

"This..." The way their expressions changed the moment we appeared was golden.

"Hmmm? Did they sense something?" I couldn’t help asking, noticing their reactions.

"Probably the obscene amount of lives that have been lost at the hands of you and your murder crew here. Their sensitivity and affinity to the law and the very tree itself must be why they’re reacting so strongly."

"Ahh... I see." I shrugged.

"How did you people know we were coming?" I had no time for theatrics, so it was better to get things out of the way and know if another slaughterfest was underway.

"This..." The leading figure took a deep breath, steadying herself. "We apologize for interrupting your journey, but the master had informed us about a potential threat to its existence and asked us to stand guard at the boundary, thus why we’re here," she replied as courteously as possible.

"Look, you scared the woman." Shaia laughed.

"I don’t think it’s my doing at all." I replied in amusement, feeling the two murderous stares locked onto my back.

"Hahahaha... looks like Sister Raven and Sister Sana are keeping the bitches away, good." Elira laughed.

I could only shake my head at the antics of the women as I focused on the leading figure of the ten before me.

"You said your master?"

"The Lifetree. She had spoken of some great disaster that had befallen a great power and was now making its way towards her, her existence being threatened and us being the only barrier between her and the danger."

"I... see."

"She must have felt the massive loss of lives within the Omni-galaxy, thus inferring things from there."

"Yea... quite the discerning entity, but..."

"You cannot stop me." I shook my head.

"We... we know." The woman replied helplessly.

"And yet you still stand before me? Why?"

"Because we must. Our nature as servants of the Lifetree compels us so. Servitude is our responsibility, even if servitude costs us our lives. After all, our lives were a gift from the tree, and our death shall only return us back home." Her eyes shone with a fanatic light as she smiled.

"Ahhh... so she’s one of those, huh?" I shook my head, recognizing all too well that level of devotion.

"You..." I turned to the woman’s right, locking onto the figure of a middle-aged-looking woman. Same white hair. Same green eyes. But—

"I recognize you." She froze, her eyes shifting.

"Yes... it’s you."

"I... I have no idea what you’re talking about."

"Terra. Elowyn ancient family. Ring any bells?"

"Shit!!" She startled, aiming to escape, but—

"Where are you going? Did I say you could leave?" Her body stopped with but a single thought as I pulled her towards me.

"Mmm... st... stop..."

"Where is the other one?"

"Release her!!!!" The other nine flared, their auras erupting outwards, but—

"Silence!" Shulvan shut down that entire parade with a single word, his own aura pressing down upon them like a declaration as they were forced unceremoniously to their knees.

"Ughhh... this... how?" The disbelief in their voices and expressions as they found themselves helpless before the crimson fellow could be felt, but they were not my concern.

"Where is the other one?" I asked the woman once again.

"Plea... please... we... we did nothing wrong."

"If you did nothing wrong, then why try to escape?"

"I... I..."

"I won’t ask again, leech. Where is the other one? You either answer me or watch me burn down all you hold dear and force her out. Dare to leech off my world and leave like nothing? Impossible." The woman grunted, unwilling to speak, and right when I was just about to lose it—

"Haaa... O Absolute. Must thee be so overbearing? Must violence always be thy way?" An aged and ancient voice echoed through the whole region as another being made its presence known.

My brows rose. "This is..."

"LORD!!! Please, stop these men from—"

"SILENCE!" The voice of the leading woman died in her throat as her expression paled.

"You know not of whom or what you stand before, and yet you dare take up an instruction to prevent his passage? Is foolishness of this level something common among mortals who think and believe themselves above everything? Useless!" The voice spat, its tone indifferent yet carrying a bite to it.

"Death..." I called out, pushing the captive in my hands towards Aunt V as I raised my head. "To dare show yourself before me—is it that you have forgotten your place?"

"O Absolute, quell your rage. I come not in hostility, but merely as the voice of reason. Any actions you may take against the Lifetree of this universe may have catastrophic consequences to the delicate balance between life and death, thus my intervention."

"So you wish to stop me too?"

"I merely wish to understand, O Absolute. Should your reasons be valid and not harmful to the tree, I shall stay my hands, but should they not..."

"O Death, that sounds like a threat."

"I wouldn’t dare, O Absolute."

Silence fell upon the region as the mood turned solemn, before—

"I see..." I broke the silence myself.

"But it is just as well. After all, I have two people that seemed genuinely interested in having a proper conversation with you, O Death."

"Hmmm?"

"Grandpa Omari. Grandpa Momon. Why not come and say hello to an old friend?"

The silence returned for a brief moment, before—

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!" A loud and booming laughter thundered through the region as a pitch-black light covered the figure of Lucien, four burning spectral eyes opening from within them as a voice, cold as death, responded:

"Finally... we meet again, dear master."
