Chapter 528: Chapter 526:Farewells.

"Damn..." I had, in my excitement, forgotten to check out the gates before devouring the entirety of the high planar galaxies, and the moment I used my consciousness to check...

"Nothing."

At this point, I wasn’t even surprised anymore. I’d already suspected something to be up, and this just solidified that thought even more.

For all the gates manned by the Spirit Ascension Sect to have vanished all at once, it wasn’t difficult to realize that something was closing any gate I acquired.

"Looks like this is another thing I can’t put off for too long anymore." I shook my head. It would seem my vacation was well and truly over as, one after the other, my responsibilities were finally catching up to me.

"Hey... something wrong?" Aunt V came up from behind me, her hands wrapping around my waist as she leaned her head on my back. "You seem tense."

"Haa... nothing’s wrong, Aunt V," I smiled, assuring her, "just a bit sad my vacation will have to be cut short as I need to get things moving again."

"Fufufufu... If it’s just that, then you really shouldn’t worry. After all, I’m here, aren’t I?" She laughed, and I couldn’t help but agree. Yet before I could even settle into the warmth—

"Dante?" Nyssara’s voice cut in.

"Hmm? Nyssara? What’s wrong?" I turned around, finding the blue-skinned beauty fidgeting with her fingers as she looked at me.

"Did something happen?" I appeared beside her before my thoughts could even catch up.

"Heh! Nothing... nothing happened." She smiled—a beautiful expression, yet one tinged with hesitation.

"You’re lying. Tell me, what’s wrong?"

She hesitated for a brief moment as her eyes glanced toward Aunt V before finally speaking up. "I... I think I’m ready now."

My heart dropped at those words as a sudden feeling of loss overcame me.

"But... why?" Why so suddenly?

"Don’t... you’ll make me change my mind if you act like that." She comforted me, her hands cupping my cheeks.

"You... did I do something?" I asked, surprised at why she would want to be placed in her own cocoon at this moment.

Yes, I’d already had this conversation with her. I’d told her about being able to elevate her bloodline and making her stronger than anything she could possibly imagine, but she had declined back then, saying she was fine with what she had since she hadn’t fully explored her current bloodline yet to think of changing it. I had agreed, not forcing anything on her, but now...

"It’s not anything you’re thinking about. I promise." She smiled, placing a tender kiss on my lips.

"Then... why now? We’re about to go bring back my parents after a little detour—"

"I know, and I’d love to meet your parents, but..." Her eyes looked toward Aunt V again, a light of determination shining within. "I can’t do that like this."

"Like... this?" I was confused. What did she mean like—

"Inadequate. I can’t do it while feeling inadequate, Dante."

"You’re not inadequate! You’re perfect just the way you are."

"Hehehe... I’m glad you think so, but I can’t agree." She finally let go of my cheeks as she moved past me, making her way toward Aunt V. The closer she got, the slower she became, her breathing turning labored as she seemed unable to even get past Aunt V’s passive aura field.

"Se... see? I’m... in... inadequate!" Her teeth gritted hard as she shot Aunt V a challenging look, unwilling to be seen as lesser even as Aunt V’s aura pressed against her.

"Haa... this is pointless." I couldn’t help shaking my head, understanding where her reluctance was coming from.

"It is not. Haa... Haa..." She breathed heavily, finally stepping back from the reaches of Aunt V’s aura. "How... how am I supposed to stand on equal footing with my future sisters if I can’t even get close to them? That won’t do, Dante. It just won’t."

"But... you can wait, no? It doesn’t have to be right now." I can’t believe I was the one trying to prevent her from leaving, but I just couldn’t let her go like that, not when I knew just how long she was going to spend in there. I’d done the mistake of having all my women be there at the same time so now I was extremely reluctant to do so again.

"How long do you think until the others are out?" Nyssara asked—not me, but—

"It won’t be too long. They entered right behind me, so any moment now," Aunt V replied with a smile, clearly already pleased with Nyssara.

"And they’ll all be like this? Like you?"

"Of course. Their existence will be fundamentally changed, so anything not on the same level can’t be allowed to get close without us willing it so. And those bitches are quite petty when it comes to things like these—heh, some more so than others."

"How petty?"

"Petty enough to use their higher existence level and make it so you can’t touch Dante when they’re hogging his space."

"Damn... that’s petty."

"Exactly. And I’m exactly like that, so..."

"Haaa..." Nyssara let out a long breath, her expression bitter at Aunt V’s replies.

I had already let go of my hesitation as I listened to the two women converse, a helpless smile already on my face.

"See? It really can’t be helped. And somehow, I feel like she’s still holding out some information about how much pettiness I should expect." At her words, the images of Dakota, Clarissa, and Kaila flashed very briefly through my mind, and I couldn’t help but agree. If it was pettiness, then those three might even give Aunt V a run for her money.

"Haa... alright, fine. But you’ll owe me big time for leaving me alone." I folded my arms in mock anger.

"I’m not leaving you alone, though. You’ve got Sister Shaia, Elira, Sana, and now Sister Raven. I’m sure you’ll be well taken care of, your perverted needs well met."

"You didn’t need to add the perverted needs part."

"And leave out the best bits of you? I would never."

"Damn... I miss my cute Nyssara. The one that hadn’t been corrupted by Sana and the others." I complained.

"You mean the Nyssara you could bully without repercussions, don’t you?"

"Stop making it sound like something I’ll be ashamed of, for I am not." I laughed.

"Hehehehe... I know." She laughed as well.

A moment of silence passed between us as she stepped closer to me.

"I’ll miss you when I’m gone," she spoke as she wrapped her hands around my body in a tight hug.

"I’ll miss you more, my blue-skinned beauty." I placed a gentle kiss on her head.

"Do it."

"Hmm." I nodded, and then—

"Devour..."
