Chapter 301 - 299: “KYAAAAAAAAAA”
Chapter 301: Chapter 299: “KYAAAAAAAAAA”
"Sister... who’s this?" A feminine voice from behind Clarissa broke the moment as we finally separated, my focus turning to the speaker.
"Hmm?" I couldn’t help raising an eyebrow as I looked at the woman, then turned to Mira.
"Oh my, Claire, I almost forgot." Clarissa smacked her hand on her forehead dramatically.
"Sister.... Haaa.." the woman merely sighed, visibly exhausted.
"Fufufufu... no need to look at me like that, I remember now don’t I? Now come, let me introduce you." She beckoned the woman forward.
"Dante, meet my little sister, and matriarch of the Elowyn ancient family, Claire Elowyn." She introduced the woman, "oh, and if it isn’t obvious already, she’s the mother of my beautiful niece, the one you’re standing in front of like we’re a pack of wolves or something, quite protective aren’t you, fufufufu..." her words made me look a bit more at our positions.
Somehow I had already stood in front of Mira without even being aware.
I smiled, "sorry, force of habit." As I finally moved aside, my eyes still trailing between Mira and her mother.
The two were a spitting image of one another, barring the fact that the woman looked a few years older, one would be more inclined to believe they were twins than, mother and daughter.
"Hehehe.. worry not, you’re cute when you get all hands off or I cut them off mode." Clarissa smiled.
"Now, Claire, the overprotective bear you just saw is Dante, yes, that Dante."
"I.. see. I guess I get your infatuation with him now, he is indeed handsome." The woman, Claire, said with a shake of her head.
"Right? Right? Fufufufu... you should learn to trust your big sister more." Clarissa huffed.
"I’ll start doing that when you start acting like a big sister." Claire shook her head, before turning to Mira,
"Now, are you just going to stand there or will you give your mother and aunt a hug?"
"Humph. She probably forgot all about us after having that big bear act like protector all this while." Clarissa huffed.
"Haaa... mother, aunt Clarissa, you two never change huh?" Mira shook her head as a smile appeared on her face, before she hugged the two women tenderly.
Whilst they were having their emotional reunion, my focus turned to the entourage that had arrived with them.
"Now. That’s just ridiculous." I laughed.
Each and every single one of those women and men, none of them.
I repeat, none were below the SSS-ranks, now if that wasn’t flaunting power, nothing was.
Yet before I could move on, I stopped.
"Huh? It’s you?" My voice came out louder than expected.
"Hmmm?" The three women having a reunion paused as they turned their attention to me, the group also finally focused on me and not the three women.
"Dante, what’s wrong?" Mira asked as she approached.
"Nothing, it’s just, that woman, she looks familiar." I pointed at the figure I’d spotted.
"Huh? Elder grace? You know her from somewhere?" Clarissa asked, turning to the white haired elderly woman in a blue mage’s robes.
"I don’t know her, she just looks familiar, like I’ve seen her somewhere before?" I put my hand on my chin as I mulled the thought over, crossing faces in my head until eventually,
"AHA! That’s it! That’s where I saw you." I looks closer, "yup! It’s definitely you."
"Shit." I could hear Mira’s mother cuss under her breath, and it seems Clarissa caught it as her smile slowly faded.
"Dante, mind telling me what’s wrong?"
"Hmm?" Hearing the cold tone in her voice, I turned, her face had no expression whatsoever as she just waited.
"Oh. It’s nothing serious really, she’s just one of the people that had arrived during the trials to take me away when that whole great devourer fiasco had happened." I shrugged off in reply.
"Didn’t think I’d see her here though, those wrinkles must have left a lasting impression for me to even remember her hagged face. Heh!" I laughed at my own words, yet the place had gone deathly silent.
"Hmm? What happened?" I asked as it seemed the temperature was suddenly dropping?
"Claire." Clarissa’s voice sounded void of warmth.
Void of emotions.
Void of... Life.
"Sister...." Mira’s mother replied.
"You authorized such a thing? Without informing me?"
"I did not. I already recognized the young man the moment the reports had arrived, and I gave explicit orders for nobody to get involved."
"So then, what am I hearing?"
Mira’s mother went silent for a few seconds, her eyes turning to the old hag that was acting like none of this concerned her in the slightest.
"Haaa... mother got involved." She finally replied after a long while.
"Since when does the old matriarch have say over the orders of the current matriarch? Is that what we’re doing now?" The temperature kept falling as the blossom trees around us began to wither, their beauty slowly fading away, they weren’t just dying, they were.. being drained of life itself.
I activated <Eyes of truth>, more intrigued by what was happening than whatever drama was going on, and the moment I did,

"Oh. Nice.." I didn’t expect to get the chance to increase my life law comprehension this soon, but who was I to refuse a free gift?
"Lady Clarissa, if I may." The voice of the old hag successfully caught my attention, as my ears perked up.
Clarissa merely leveled the woman a dead stare, not even acknowledging her with words.
"The matriarch had given the order, not because she wishes to contest authority, but because she knew exactly how serious the situation was at the time." The elderly woman explained.
"Claire. Is that true?"
"Heh! Tell me big sis, do you believe mother, that power hungry hag, would be so subtle with her words?" At the words of Mira’s mother, the elderly woman visibly paled, the others around her not faring too well either.
"And what did mother say to you exactly?" Clarissa asked, as all the cherry blossom trees withered completely, their trunks turning into dry husks.

"Well, mother said, kids should stay out of the affairs of the adults, you’re too young to understand what is happening, now stay quiet! Her words, not mine." Claire, Mira’s mother, shrugged nonchalantly.
A heavy and tense silence filled the place until.
"Hehehe... I guess that’s okay then!" Clarissa suddenly smiled, a bright expression appearing on her face as the dead trees immediately gained their life, their bloom beginning once more.
"If mother said so, then she must have her reasons, isn’t that right, elder grace?" She asked, addressing the elderly woman.
"Hooo... I see the lady is still as sensible as always, I’m glad." The elderly hag sighed in relief as she replied.
"Worry not, elder grace, everything is fine, you were just acting on orders, and out of goodwill, I totally understand."
"Hahahaha!! I knew the lady was truly broad minded, since that’s the case, I shall bog you down no more." Saying so, the old hag turned, taking her leave, but not before giving me a meaningful look.
A sharp spike of killing intent, one so subdued and hidden, if it weren’t for my deep connection with the atmosphere, the law of massacre, and death, I’d have missed it entirely.
I turned, and there, right beside me.
Still smiling.
Still radiant.
Was Clarissa, yet her eyes as she looked at the departing figure of the old hag held nothing but... Death.
"Hmmm?" Before I could get into it, the feeling disappeared as she finally turned towards me.
"Sorry about all that Dante, my family tends to get carried away sometimes."
I looked at her, searching her eyes, but seeing nothing else, I pushed the thought aside,
"It’s alright, the old man scared them off pretty good, hahahaha!!!"
"Alright then, I’m glad. Now, you two must be exhausted, why don’t we get you guys some rest, anything else can wait."
"I don’t mind."
"Of course you don’t. All you do is eat, sleep, harass women. And when you’re not doing that, you’re looking for someone to either bully, torture, or just blow their heads off." Mira scoffed.
"You say all that like it’s a bad thing, hahahaha!" I laughed as we made our way deeper into their place, a nagging feeling still at the back of my mind concerning the fate of that old hag....
.....
.....
The next morning.
The warming rays of the sun bathed my face in a soothing warmth as I slowly roused from my sleep.
"Huh?" Feeling a weight pressed on my chest, I opened my eyes, a head of white hair filling my entire vision.
"Well, what do we have here?" I snickered.
...
...
"Ugh... hmmmmmm...." Mira shifted and turned until she sat up slowly, stretching, her voluptuous curves barely hidden by that sheer night gown she had on, as she rubbed her eyes groggily.
"Hey there beautiful, good morning~~"
"Mmm... good..." her words died in her throat as she froze.
I slowly placed my arms behind my head as I relaxed, enjoying the show.
Her head turned robotically, checking out the room, before they turned towards her own body, taking in the view of her sitting comfortably ontop of me, then finally, her eyes found mine, as my smirk widened.
"Nice peaks..." I drawled....
"KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!"
