Chapter 2654 - 2672: I Hate Myself So Much

"She got drunk. Let’s not bother with her and eat our food." Bright Sampton turned his head and whispered to Jane Sampson, "This is the first time I’ve seen her get so talkative when drunk."

"I am not drunk." Julie Sampton suddenly interjected.

"Yes, yes, you’re not drunk, you just drank a little too much." Bright Sampton placed his hand on his forehead; a drunk person would never admit to being drunk.

"No worries, I’m almost done eating too, let’s toast then. The apple juice here is so sweet." Jane Sampson raised her cup toward Julie Sampon, "It’s a pity I can’t drink wine with you guys."

Julie Sampton laughed, picked up the wine cup, clinked it with Jane Sampson’s decisively, then tilted her head back and drank half a cup of wine, leaving Bright Sampton and Jane Sampson staring in shock.

Of the bottle of red wine, Bright Sampton only drank one-third, while the other two-thirds ended up in Julie Sampton’s belly.

When James Black came to pick up Jane Sampson, Jane Sampson was urging Julie Sampson to eat some fruit to sober up.

"Brother-in-law is here, you and brother-in-law go back first. Julie Sampson has me, I will personally take her back to the hotel." Bright Sampton waved his hand to Jane Sampson, "It’s getting late, you all go back. Many people have recognized my sister. If we don’t leave quickly, what if reporters show up downstairs?"

"Alright, then I’ll head back with James Black." Jane Sampson thought it best to leave quickly too, fearing reporters might block them downstairs.

Bright Sampton thought Julie Sampson was too drunk to pay, but when it came time to settle the bill, Julie Sampson was able to swipe the card without a mistake, leaving Bright Sampton almost clapping in amazement.

Bright Sampton drank some wine so he couldn’t drive, and found a surrogate. Julie Sampton couldn’t sit steadily, so Bright Sampton sat with her in the rear seat.

The car slowly merged into the traffic, Julie Sampson quietly sat there, watching house after house pass by.

Suddenly, she spoke to Bright Sampton, "If you have time, remember to visit grandpa and grandma."

Bright Sampton froze there.

"Bright Sampton, do you know how much I hate myself nowadays? I can say sorry to you, and I can say sorry to Jane, but when it comes to whom I want to say this sorry, it’s never too late, it’s always meaningful."

"Except grandpa and grandma, no matter how many apologies I may have, it’s too late to say them. I really want to see them, but having been back for so many days, I still can’t muster the courage to face them."

Julie Sampson spoke and then tears fell, "It was me who angered grandpa to death. Until the end, I never sincerely went to see him off. When grandma died, she was hating me. Bright Sampton, it’s only recently I slowly understand that death is indeed such a terrifying thing."

Julie Sampson has been back in the country for so many days, wandering at the doorway of the cemetery multiple times, but never having the courage to step inside.

She knows grandpa and grandma hate her, so she is ashamed to face the two elderly people.

"Sister, tomorrow I’ll go with you to see them. You are their granddaughter, remember how they once cherished you, their hatred for you was mostly because you were immature. Now that you’re clear-headed, if they knew, they would be happy." Bright Sampton always thought Julie never remembered grandpa and grandma.

He didn’t expect Julie Sampton to say such things after drinking.
