Chapter 893: Chapter 891: Poison Demon Jia Xiu

Half an hour later.

Luo Yao had recovered significantly.

"Eldest Senior Brother, why did you suddenly come to the Eastern Continent?"

"I’ve been here for a while," Luo Yao sighed with deep emotion. "I never expected you to make such a huge name for yourself here."

When he first heard the name ’Xu Yang,’ he assumed it was just a coincidence. After all, even though he knew his youngest junior brother was a monstrous genius, he hadn’t expected him to be *this* freakishly talented. Yet, as it turned out, it was the exact same person.

"Junior Brother, if you had stayed in the Northern Continent, you probably wouldn’t have grown this fast. The Northern Continent is ultimately too peaceful," Luo Yao continued. "In contrast, everyone in the Eastern Continent competes to the absolute extreme."

Regional resources aside, this fiercely competitive environment was exactly why the Northern Continent—and even the other continents—couldn’t compare to the Eastern Continent. Under such pressure, the top geniuses of every generation were bound to become terrifying powerhouses capable of dominating an entire era.

"Let’s not talk about that," Xu Yang said, immensely curious. "Eldest Senior Brother, what exactly is the origin of that Scripture of Ten Thousand Poisons?"

"Hehe, it’s good stuff."

Luo Yao’s eyes lit up with sudden excitement. He pulled out a thick ancient scroll that was as black as ink. Strange patterns covered its surface, squirming like grotesque, jagged bugs. It was a hair-raising sight.

"This is the Scripture of Ten Thousand Poisons! I discovered it by chance inside the body of a venomous beast," Luo Yao explained, his face flushed red and his arms waving enthusiastically. "Its previous owner was named Jia Xiu. I learned from those Blood Marsh assassins that he was once the Poison Demon, a notorious figure in the Eastern Continent for a time.

"The Scripture of Ten Thousand Poisons records a Poison Body Skill practiced by the Poison Demon. By refining one’s own flesh into the Body of Ten Thousand Poisons, merely touching someone would inflict them with a lethal toxin. It causes their life force to decay, their Primordial Spirit to wither, and even damages their Immortal Foundation. Pushed to the extreme, it can completely corrupt and pollute a treasured land. It’s utterly terrifying.

"In addition to that, it contains numerous poison recipes he researched. It’s beyond imagination—a real eye-opener."

Xu Yang was also shocked. However, watching Luo Yao’s overzealous reaction, he couldn’t help but swallow hard and say softly, "Senior Brother, we can definitely reference the poison recipes in this Scripture of Ten Thousand Poisons, but whatever you do, absolutely do not cultivate that Body of Ten Thousand Poisons."

The Body of Ten Thousand Poisons certainly had its profound aspects, but the very concept was too outrageous. He could only imagine the immense willpower required to master it, constantly interacting with countless toxic substances in the world. One minor mistake, and a cultivator would be left as neither human nor ghost, leading to a miserable death.

He did not want to see his Eldest Senior Brother go down such a path. If Dan Qi found out, he would definitely slap Luo Yao to death in an instant.

Luo Yao chuckled and waved his hand. "Don’t worry, your senior brother isn’t stupid. Only a lunatic would try to cultivate this Body of Ten Thousand Poisons.

"Take a look for yourself. This Body of Ten Thousand Poisons is pure madness. Right from the beginning, you have to soak in various poisons without putting up any defenses, enduring a fate worse than death. After that, you must withstand the bites and gnawing of venomous bugs and beasts to build up a sufficient source of poison inside your body. Then, you use a special method to refine it into your foundation. Just surviving this initial process relies entirely on luck, and that’s only the start."

Luo Yao tossed the Scripture of Ten Thousand Poisons over.

Xu Yang caught it instinctively, but the moment his fingers touched it, a wave of discomfort washed over him. "This thing is poisonous."

"That’s right," Luo Yao nodded slightly. "It’s a remnant of the Body of Ten Thousand Poisons’ power left behind by the Poison Demon, though it’s already very weak."

Since it couldn’t hurt Luo Yao, it posed absolutely no threat to Xu Yang. It had merely startled him.

Xu Yang unrolled the scroll and began to read. After a long while, he grimaced. Just reading the descriptions made him shudder.

It was too ruthless. A practitioner would essentially have to stop treating themselves as human. Out of a hundred people attempting to cultivate it, probably not a single one would succeed. Back in his day, that Poison Demon Jia Xiu must have truly been a formidable figure.

He thought, "If I were to cultivate it, despite the agonizing process, my success rate would be around eighty or ninety percent. But this thing..."

Xu Yang shook his head continuously. He would have to be crazy to actually cultivate it.

However, as he moved on to the poison recipes and the illustrated compendium of numerous toxic substances, his eyes instantly lit up.

Some of the entries listed inside could even threaten those at the Late Stage of Golden Immortal and the Golden Immortal Extreme Realm. Of course, the prerequisite was finding sufficiently potent poisons to begin with.

"Eldest Senior Brother, these poison recipes are truly good stuff," Xu Yang said, licking his lips as he looked at Luo Yao.

Their eyes met, and they both let out low, knowing chuckles.

"They are indeed good stuff," Luo Yao agreed. "But your senior brother’s strength is too weak. I’ll have to rely entirely on you."

"Leave it to me. The Starfall Immortal Ruins will open very soon. Once inside, there will be no shortage of people secretly targeting me. If I can put together some of these poison recipes, things will be much easier," Xu Yang said in a deep voice.

"The Starfall Immortal Ruins?" Luo Yao shook his head, showing zero interest. "I won’t be going. Once the Starfall Immortal Ruins open, the number of powerhouses and geniuses roaming the Eastern Continent will decrease significantly. That will be the perfect time for me to travel around."

Although the fortuitous encounters inside were astonishing, with his current strength, the chances of him dying inside were as high as eighty or ninety percent. It was completely unnecessary.

Xu Yang strongly agreed with this assessment.

"There are an extreme number of venomous creatures in this area, but there’s no rush for now," Luo Yao continued. "Before the Poison Demon Jia Xiu died, he left behind a cave dwelling here. Those Blood Marsh assassins came specifically for it. I think I might have already found a clue."

"What clue?" Xu Yang’s spirits lifted.

Before his death, the Poison Demon Jia Xiu was at the Late Stage of Golden Immortal. With such an advanced cultivation base, anything he left behind would absolutely be considered a treasure—items with immense utility and tremendous lethal threat.

However, Xu Yang was not afraid in the slightest. His Flawless Pure Body feared no corruption from any evil. His Grade-Twelve Immortal Foundation was robust enough to suppress anything that entered his body. Furthermore, he possessed the Celestial Refining Divine Tripod and the Heaven-Burning Divine Fire; even if a poison posed a fatal threat to him, he could rely on them to suppress and obliterate it. It was safe to say that no matter how terrifying the Poison Demon Jia Xiu’s methods were, eighty or ninety percent of them would be utterly ineffective against him.

"Give me the Scripture of Ten Thousand Poisons."

Luo Yao walked over, took the scripture, unrolled it page by page, and then flicked a finger against it.

BUZZ!

The ancient scroll trembled slightly. The intricate patterns of the toxic substances illustrated within began to float one by one, as if awakening and coming to life. Faintly, the glowing lines showed signs of linking together.

Luo Yao’s face rapidly paled.

"My strength is too weak to fully activate it," Luo Yao cautioned carefully. "You give it a try. Use the power of your Primordial Spirit. Also, be careful. I have a feeling that even if this clue left behind by the Poison Demon is genuine, it might still be dangerous."

Xu Yang nodded slightly, accepting the Scripture of Ten Thousand Poisons. With a single tap of his finger, his Primordial Spirit erupted.

BOOM!

Compared to Luo Yao’s earlier attempt at activation, the difference was like heaven and earth.

Thick, viscous ink-like light erupted, squirming inside the ancient scroll like a thick liquid. Immediately after, picture after picture awakened, their glowing lines fully connecting.

SWISH SWISH SWISH!!

Page after page within the ancient scroll turned transparent and ethereal as the illustrations began to layer over one another. Under the shroud of the inky light, it looked exceptionally bizarre and demonic.

The venomous insects, toxic beasts, and poisonous plants were incredibly lifelike, looking as though they were about to leap out of the scroll. Luo Yao and Xu Yang felt their hair stand on end as a pervasive chill washed over them. It was far too creepy.

After about several breaths.

BOOM!

The ancient scroll jolted violently. All the illustrations fused together completely. The inky light pierced through them, undulating like rolling mountain ranges. Dark shadows darted around until a distinct black line emerged from the chaos, slowly solidifying and growing clearer in midair. Looking closely, beneath that black line lay a fully materialized projection of the surrounding mountainous terrain. Even the puddles, ancient trees, and sunken valleys were depicted with crystal clarity.

"The Poison Swamp area! It’s the Poison Swamp area!" Luo Yao exclaimed in a low, excited voice.

"The cave dwelling is here," Xu Yang said, raising his hand to point gently. "At the northern end of the Poison Swamp area."

At the very end of the black line, a hideous black demonic bug slowly manifested, baring its fangs and claws.

Suddenly, the phantom demonic bug lunged upward, bolting along the black line with lightning speed straight toward Xu Yang.

"Oh no!" Luo Yao’s expression changed drastically as he shouted an urgent warning. "Junior Brother, watch out!"
