Chapter 1707: Official Announcement

The Berlin Film Festival’s attitude towards Zhou Yun this time was indeed a bit exaggerated.

At least in Zhou Yun’s view, they had no real reason to do so.

She neither won any major awards at the Berlin Film Festival nor was she a regular there, yet suddenly enjoyed the treatment of a superstar.

This event once again boosted Zhou Yun’s prestige in the film industry.

Especially in China, Zhou Yun’s fans celebrated this event like it was the New Year.

No work was entered into the main competition unit, but the officials organized a special screening event for Zhou Yun—now that’s prestige.

Even various film critics and bloggers couldn’t help but exclaim that Zhou Yun truly has carved out a place on the international film stage.

She genuinely has the works, the fame, and the status.

It’s always something to be happy about when someone from your own country rises to such high international status and influence.

What’s even more exciting is that Zhou Yun is not yet thirty, only twenty-six, very young, and her star path is still long, with plenty of room for career growth.

No one knows what heights Zhou Yun will reach in the future.

And this is the most anticipated thing.

Wu Chengbao is also going to Berlin this time, and before departure, reporters interviewed him and asked his expectations for “Cigarette.”

Wu Chengbao smiled and said being shortlisted is already great. He hopes to meet everyone’s expectations and asks the domestic media to help promote this art film, because once the Berlin Film Festival is over, the movie will be released domestically.

Another reporter asked if Zhou Yun and Song Chi, who will both appear at the Berlin Film Festival, will have any joint events.

Wu Chengbao said, “Everyone can look forward to it. They’ll definitely meet, but both their schedules are very full, so it’s hard to say when exactly they’ll meet.”

“So far, Zhou Yun and Song Chi have only co-starred in two TV dramas and never collaborated on a movie. Do they have any plans to work together on a film?”

Wu Chengbao replied: “Like everyone else, I am full of anticipation for their next collaboration and eager to know when that will be. I’ll ask them later. However, they are both actors with high standards for themselves and cherish the opportunity to star together in a production, so they won’t casually take advantage of such collaboration opportunities. They will only choose projects for collaboration with the highest criteria.”

The reporter asked, “If their joint projects are difficult, Song Chi has now opened a film company and works as a producer; is there no plan to collaborate with Zhou Yun?”

“Of course there is. Xiao Yun has already taken a liking to one of our scripts, which is being advanced,” Wu Chengbao said. “Everyone, stay excited. It’s a fresh genre Xiao Yun has never acted before.”

The reporter was surprised to have uncovered a new project with one question.

The reporter’s eyes lit up and asked, “Could you reveal what kind of genre it is?”

“It’s confidential for now.”

“Is it a movie or a TV show?”

“Movie,” Wu Chengbao replied to the last question, making a “stop here” gesture, “Alright, alright, I’ve already answered many questions today. I can’t reveal more information, or I’ll be out of a job.”

Everyone laughed heartily.

Wu Chengbao put his hands together and bowed, saying, “Please help promote it, thank you all!”

“Absolutely, President Wu, don’t worry.”

In the film industry, one must maintain good relations with the media.

Whether it’s for promotion or other matters, they must rely on their help.

Wu Chengbao is an expert in this area.

He never distances himself from journalists and editors just because he’s a partner in a company.

On the contrary, he often meets and chats with them, inviting them to his company now and then.

For the Berlin Film Festival, Song Chi has entered with his starring work, and Wu Chengbao takes this matter very seriously.

After all, Song Chi hasn’t had a work entered into one of the three major film festivals in recent years.

Wu Chengbao arranged for the publicity department to release several pieces of press releases for the warm-up, also simultaneously warming up for “Cigarette.”
