Chapter 128: Chapter 128: The Plan

Actually, the crossbow can be considered a form of mechanical structure concept, but at the end of the day it’s still different. He’d never seen a crossbow crafted so simply and easily, yet with such extraordinary killing power.

This lightweight design is very similar to the mechanical principle.

Jay Monroe even suspected that Renee Morgan could push its killing power to the maximum—lethal, deadly.

But she hadn’t done so.

Dane stared at Renee Morgan without blinking, not missing any subtle change in her expression.

His own family was in the same business as Jay Monroe, but compared to Jay, who’d only accumulated some experience over a few years, Dane’s family had a history dating back hundreds of years. He’d grown up surrounded by all this; while other boys dismantled their homes, their toys, or their play guns, he dismantled mechanisms, machines, weapons—even secret laboratories inaccessible to ordinary people—were his childhood playgrounds.

He understood better than Jay Monroe just how valuable this small crossbow was.

Easy, convenient, low cost—if its killing power could be increased...

Dane could already imagine the enormous wealth it could generate.

Renee Morgan quickly explained to them the concept behind the mechanical crossbow; Jay Monroe and Dane had already seen its production process, so there was nothing left to hide.

Jay Monroe really wanted to ask the most important question: Can its killing power be boosted?

But as he looked up and met Renee’s limpid, autumn-water eyes, so clear and pure, he found he couldn’t ask the question.

Dane sensed Jay’s hesitation, gave Renee Morgan a long look, and spoke: "You’re a performance major, so how are you able to make mechanical crossbows?"

The Morgan Family always does things openly; Renee Morgan had nothing to hide in her explanation: "Our family runs a martial arts school. This kind of crossbow is actually a required course. As for the crafting, all our weapons are made by Grandpa. I just learned a bit alongside him."

Before nightfall, the group returned to the clay hut.

The commander of Team Blue sent a main force, departing through the jungle by land route, and they had already arrived at Team Red’s territory, setting up camp on a hill not far from the Team Red’s border defense.

Team Red’s border defense had guards. If they wanted to cross, they’d have to fight their way through.

Team Red’s commander would definitely dispatch reinforcements, and the difficulty of that was no less than Team Red leading troops for a naval battle to attack Team Blue’s customs post. ℯℯ𝘭.

Compared to Team Red’s crack forces at sea, Team Blue was much weaker. At least, their strongest teammates—Renee Morgan, Jay Monroe, Dane—weren’t in the main group.

The commander connected a group voice chat with the core representatives for this operation.

That included Renee Morgan, Dane, Jay Monroe, and the temporary leader assigned to command the main force in attacking Team Red’s border defense.

After the sea battle, Team Blue had only just over two hundred survivors, and with some staying behind at customs and base camp, they could only send about a hundred out.

According to their recon, Team Red didn’t have many people guarding their border defense—about thirty to forty; it wouldn’t be hard for Team Blue to break through, provided Team Red’s base camp didn’t send reinforcements.

But they knew that was impossible.

The commander asked Jay Monroe and the others if there was any way to intercept Team Red’s reinforcements.

Renee Morgan, Jay Monroe, and Dane immediately understood what the commander meant.

Jay Monroe and Dane exchanged glances, then both fixed their eyes on Renee Morgan.

Renee Morgan: "!"

The solution wasn’t something you could think up right away. After disconnecting from the commander, the seven in the clay hut launched into an intense discussion.

Bama and the others suggested they go and puncture all the tires at Team Red’s base camp; since both teams had limited resources, if the tires were ruined, where would they find replacements?

Once they lost their vehicles, they’d be forced to walk to the border defense, and they could set an ambush in the middle...

Jay Monroe shook his head: "This won’t buy us much time; it might not be enough for our Team Blue main force to break through Team Red’s border defense."

Besides, with Hugh’s cautious personality, he definitely wouldn’t let them near the cars so easily. That wouldn’t be any easier than sneaking into Team Red’s base camp.

And another thing: Team Blue’s main force arriving at Team Red’s border defense would definitely alert Team Red.

Team Red’s base camp would dispatch reinforcements at top speed.

If they tried the same trick again, Team Red’s reinforcements wouldn’t bother wasting time with them; the effect would be negligible.

"But..." Jay Monroe thought of something, looked at them: "Each side originally had five hundred people, not counting the commanders. The number of Team Red players we sniped for points is nearly two hundred. The number left at Team Red’s border defense is about thirty to forty. At customs post, they’ve also got around thirty to forty. So in their base camp, there aren’t many people left."

He made a peace sign: "Two hundred people."

The others nodded and listened as he continued: "With two hundred people, some have to stay behind to guard the tower. At most, they can only send about a hundred reinforcements."

Add in the hundred reinforcements plus the thirty or forty at the border defense, that’s just a hundred thirty or forty—not much of a gap between strength and Team Blue’s force.

"If it’s not Hugh leading the reinforcements, we can confidently defeat them. But if Hugh brings elite reinforcements, the difficulty goes way up." Jay Monroe finished seriously.

Renee Morgan and the others nodded again in agreement.

Jay Monroe, though usually a bit narcissistic, wasn’t arrogant or reckless. His analysis was spot-on.

Dane waited for him to finish, then voiced his suggestion: "Right now, we have two plans. One, let them fight their fight, while we take the chance to attack Team Red Tower. Because once they send out reinforcements, the number left at their base camp will definitely decrease."

Jay Monroe and Renee Morgan looked at him, their faces full of disbelief.

Seven people attacking Team Red Tower?

Is he crazy?

Attacking and sneaking are two different things; last time the sneak attack worked purely because Team Red was caught off guard.

But attacking is different; even if Team Red dispatches a reinforcement force, the number left at base camp won’t drop below a hundred. For seven people to face a hundred, it would be suicide.

Dane seemed to perceive their thoughts and said, "At best, it can be a distraction. Otherwise, as you can see, with just the seven of us, we can’t take down Team Red’s base camp, nor can we stop their reinforcement troops—we simply can’t accomplish the commander’s task."

"What about option two?" Jay Monroe asked.

"Option two is what Renee Morgan suggested last time: anything we can think of, Team Red can predict. Personally, I think Hugh will definitely stay at Team Red Tower, and won’t be sent out as reinforcements." Dane’s gaze was firm.

Jay Monroe was curious about his certainty: "Why?"

Dane: "According to the rules, capturing the opponent’s tower equals victory. Team Red Tower means too much to them—they won’t risk it. Even if Hugh wants to go as part of the reinforcement force, the Team Red commander won’t allow it."

Hugh’s strength gives him some say in Team Red’s camp, but the Team Red commander is his superior. Military orders are absolute; obey orders, zero tolerance—otherwise, he’d violate the rules and be penalized by the base competition zone.
