Cast as the Foil, She Went Viral on a Military Reality Show
Chapter 127: The Blow
Chapter 127: Chapter 127: The Blow
Hugh’s finger never pulled the trigger in the end, and he could only watch as they vanished from sight.
When Louis looked up, he spotted Renee Morgan, but couldn’t see her whole face—just a glimpse of her profile as she turned away.
A real Aethel girl look—tall, fair like the people of Aethel, probably sunburnt so her cheeks were rosy against her pale skin, high nose, deep red lips, vibrant and youthful...
With a face like that, honestly, if someone told him she was a top Aethel actress, he wouldn’t even be surprised.
Is this the look Hugh couldn’t remember?
Maybe... Hugh’s just face-blind?
Louis stood dumbstruck for quite a while, struggling to believe that their most powerful Red Team opponent, that legendary sniper everyone talked about, was actually just a young chick?
Unbelievable, seriously unbelievable.
Red Team members finally realized they’d been duped, especially the two "grenades" Dane tossed—they sounded loud as hell, but didn’t actually do any damage.
Those "grenades" had just landed right at their feet, made a big boom, but all they got was a faceful of smoke, nothing else happened, and there were no craters on the ground.
"Damn it, did someone just turn landmines into smoke bombs?" Someone spotted the shell on the ground, recognized it as a mine casing, and started cursing.
Others crowded closer, curious. Quite a few had seen mines before and recognized them instantly.
No one understood how Team Blue managed it—modifying landmines into "grenades" that gave off smoke, just so they could escape using the cover.
Louis saw Hugh stay silent, just staring hard in the direction Jay Monroe and Renee Morgan left, so he couldn’t help but ask, "Should we chase them?"
Hugh shook his head. If they managed to escape even after all this, there’s no way they’d catch up now.
The Red Team regrouped and headed back, switching their topic from mind-blowing landmine grenades to "who got a look at the female sniper."
"Did you see her? I caught a glimpse from behind—a woman, tall and skinny, high ponytail. With a figure like that, she definitely isn’t ugly, even just her back view says it all."
"Me, me, me! I saw her, right as she turned around. Seriously, talk about breathtaking—she’s gorgeous, huge eyes, I swear she was giving me bedroom eyes."
"Get outta here!" The others all jeered, laughing and cursing, nobody bought that bullshit.
Seeing Louis so quiet, they all asked him if he saw anything.
They were super curious what Renee Morgan looked like.
Louis glanced at everyone: "What good does knowing all this do for you guys?"
The others: "??"
"Some things, it’s better not to know, seriously—it’ll just crush you," he said.
The others: "??"
"I don’t want you guys to be crushed... hell, whatever, I’ll tell you." Louis sighed, then grinned like he meant business: "Renee Morgan—yeah, the sniper from Team Blue, the one who had our whole team running in circles for her—is barely in her twenties, fresh-faced, and pretty enough to make you question your existence."
Just as Louis said, everyone’s eyes went wide—they all stared at one another in shock.
A chick barely in her twenties, with skin that smooth and beauty off the charts...
Is that even a thing in the base competition zone?
Louis watched them all look completely crushed, and honestly, it made him feel way better—he knew this would happen...
"Boohoo, unfair, unfair! Why does Team Blue get girls, and we don’t?"
"Exactly, girls are whatever, but a gorgeous girl like that? What did Red Team ever do to piss off the competition zone?"
"What are you idiots talking about? I heard that back in the day, nobody wanted girls on their team—they just held everyone back."
"Ah, so unfair! Team Blue gets a pretty girl, and not just pretty but really good—why don’t we ever get lucky like that?"
Louis: "..."
Isn’t the real point that all these self-proclaimed geniuses from every country—talents, prodigies, crazy good—got totally demolished by one young girl?
Isn’t anyone disturbed by how humiliating that is, questioning their whole life?
After Renee Morgan and Jay Monroe retreated, they guessed the others wouldn’t chase, so once they linked up with Dane and the crew, they scaled a hill and stopped by a stream.
After roasting in the sun so long, it felt like their hair was about to catch fire, so everyone rushed into the water to cool off.
Renee Morgan kicked off her shoes and sat on a rock by the riverbank. She grabbed her canteen and gulped down water without caring about being slow, only stopping once her stomach was full and her throat didn’t hurt so much, then bowed her head and gasped for air.
Jay Monroe and Dane weren’t much better off. Being guys, they waded right in, dunked their heads underwater, held their breath, and after hearing a big splash, came up flipping their hair around, "splash, splash" everywhere.
Jay Monroe had mentioned before that he, Hugh, and Dane were all from Freyos.
But none of them were Black—they were actually paler than her, pure white guys.
Renee Morgan didn’t find that strange; Freyos is huge, and not just full of Black people. For example, in the northwest corner of the Continent of Freyos, Zarraba is 80% white, and most people of Valoria and Zanthia are Zanthians, which belong to the Mediterranean branch of the European race, so their skin is usually fair.
Jay Monroe, Dane, and Hugh didn’t look Black at all—they had high noses, big eyes, sharp features, pure white skin, and their hair wasn’t curly but thick and smooth.
Renee Morgan couldn’t tell what country they were from.
Forget about a beauty coming out of the bath; handsome guys playing in the water were just as nice to watch.
Even the viewers in the livestream were having a feast—Jay Monroe and Dane’s clothes were soaked and stuck to their bodies, and it almost looked like you could see the muscle lines through their shiny shirts.
Eight-pack abs, armor chest, strong biceps, shark lines, peachy butts, long legs, husband waist!
Ah!
All the girls on the stream let out squeals together.
The stream water was icy cold; they hung out for ages before walking to a shady spot under a tree nearby to rest before heading back.
Renee Morgan had already put her shoes back on and was wiping down her gun.
Bama, Boland, and the rest had their eyes glued to the small crossbow hanging at Renee Morgan’s waist.
Renee Morgan was generous enough; she unclipped the mini crossbow from her waist and let them play with it.
Bama and the others scrambled for a turn. Jay Monroe and Dane joined in on the fun.
Both Jay Monroe and Dane shot a couple bolts, then handed it back to Bama and sat one on either side of Renee Morgan.
"Morgan, this little crossbow isn’t like the ones we’re used to. The structure’s simple, but the accuracy and firepower are insane. What’s the mechanism behind it?" Jay Monroe asked, glancing at Renee Morgan, curiosity all over his face.
