Chapter 135: New Power

By the time Ni Mengxue woke up, Lu Yucai had already left.

She stretched before checking the vegetable production in her space.

She had to admit that the farming spirit was surprisingly intelligent. It constantly grew and harvested food without needing her instructions.

The only problem was that it charged her one hundred Merit Points every time the vegetables were harvested and regrown. It was a vicious cycle.

Every time Ni Mengxue watched her Merit Points decrease, she felt as though her heart were being cut open. Still, she endured it.

After getting out of bed, she suddenly felt stronger than before. Ni Mengxue subconsciously clenched her fist.

"My, this is strange. Why do I feel like I’ve awakened a power?"

She immediately opened the system interface and checked her profile.

Her eyes quickly landed on the superpower section.

There it was.

[Superpower: Ice, Super Strength]

Ni Mengxue’s eyes widened before she grinned. "Wow. Now this is interesting."

From her perspective, awakening one superpower through the system had already been unexpected. She had never imagined that she could awaken another one.

Then she suddenly remembered Fu Sinan. He had also awakened a superpower recently.

’This shouldn’t be this common.’

Unless... Ni Mengxue quickly walked out of the room. She had barely reached the hallway when she ran into Lu Yucai.

He seemed to have been looking for her as well. The moment he saw her, he frowned. "There is a problem."

Ni Mengxue’s expression became serious. "What is it?"

Lu Yucai quickly led her inside. "A lot of our team members have developed fevers. It looks like they’re about to awaken superpowers."

As he closed the door, he continued,

"Superpower awakening fever is extremely difficult and rare. This is too strange. I even suspected that someone might be deliberately..."

"I think it’s because of the vegetables grown in my space."

Lu Yucai stopped and blinked.

Ni Mengxue continued, "When I was experimenting in the laboratory, I injected my test subjects with recovery potions. One of them eventually awakened a superpower. At the time, I thought it was caused by the potion."

She frowned thoughtfully.

"But during lunch, I often shared some of my food with them. The person who awakened a superpower happened to be the one whose physical and mental condition was the most favorable."

Lu Yucai fell silent.

Ni Mengxue continued, "If someone has strong mental fortitude but a severely weakened physical condition, they may have a higher chance of awakening a superpower. The vegetables might have improved their physical condition enough to trigger the awakening."

Lu Yucai’s mind immediately began processing everything.

"That does sound logical."

However, his expression soon became serious again.

"Even so, we can’t stay here. If someone reports that an entire group is experiencing superpower-awakening fevers, the base will quarantine them. We might even have to pay a huge number of zombie crystals just to get everyone released."

Ni Mengxue waved her hand. "Don’t worry. As long as someone guards the door, no one will find out."

She suddenly remembered something. "Oh, right. I wanted to ask about that task."

"It’s already done."

Ni Mengxue paused.

Before leaving to make the stabilization agent, she had left a letter for Lu Yucai.

He had followed her instructions and completed the system task.

She had asked him to spread the news throughout the slums that a new base had been established.

Its name was Fair Shallow Land Base.

The recruitment notice was simple. The base only accepted hardworking people.

As long as someone was willing to work, they would have a place to stay.

Anyone interested only needed to leave their name.

Lu Yucai’s subordinate He Yong, along with Valer, had gone through the slums collecting names. Once they finished, they had submitted the list to Lu Yucai.

The bag Valer had given him contained all those names. Lu Yucai handed it to Ni Mengxue.

She opened it and looked through the list.

There were at least a thousand people, perhaps even two thousand.

A smile appeared on her face. "All right. We’ll leave today."

Lu Yucai frowned. "No, let’s wait for everyone’s fever to break out first."

Ni Mengxue thought about it.

Her system had unlocked several new building options.

Previously, she had only been able to construct basic concrete buildings. Now, a new tab called Materials had appeared.

It contained premium glass, reinforced metals, sturdy construction materials, and various other resources.

More importantly, the system had unlocked blueprints for numerous buildings.

Schools, clinics, kitchens, restaurants, movie theatres, entertainment centers etc., were opened.

There were even more options that Ni Mengxue hadn’t had time to inspect.

The only drawback was that the system provided the blueprints, not the actual construction materials.

She would have to purchase or obtain those herself.

But there was another major change.

She could now convert System Points into Merit Points.

Previously, she had only been able to convert Merit Points into System Points. ’This is huge.’

Ni Mengxue was already planning how to completely transform Fair Shallow Land Base.

She would give the entire base a proper makeover. But she could only do that after returning to her own territory.

She could only nod. "All right, then. Once everyone recovers, we’ll leave."

Lu Yucai then asked for the stabilization agent, which she handed him, and watched him leave.

She was about to head downstairs when she suddenly heard two people chatting loudly. She subconsciously looked toward the common area.

There, she saw Li Han. But beside him stood a man who looked strangely familiar.

Ni Mengxue frowned. ’Where have I seen him before?’

She couldn’t remember, but what attracted her attention was the bag beside Li Han.

So she decided to greet them and have look as to what this boy had snagged this time.

Li Han quickly moved the bag of things he had bought behind him and gave her a faint smile.

"Miss Ni, what are you doing here?"

Ni Mengxue glanced at the bag. "You must have bought a lot of unique flowers, right? Show me."
