Chapter 127: Jealous

A strange flicker of amusement appeared in Melanie’s eyes. "Oh, looks like someone is in love."

Ni Mengxue ignored her and opened the holographic system screen in her mind.

Sure enough, the reward had already been issued.

Her eyes immediately brightened.

’Ten thousand Merit Points. I can slowly accumulate them, build more houses in my base, and unlock more features of my space.’

Thinking about her space, Ni Mengxue sighed.

At first, she had thought she could at least try growing mutated fruits inside it. She had already encountered mutated plants, but the mutated fruits were particularly strange.

Some were blackish or orange, while one apple was completely pink.

The moment she had almost touched that apple, the system had issued a warning.

Ni Mengxue had been taken aback.

It was the first time her system had issued a warning on its own.

’It seems that as long as my life is in danger, the system will automatically alert me.’

She had stored the mutated fruit inside her space and tried to grow it, but there had been no response from the space.

In the end, she had to give up.

The RV continued moving.

Along the way, Ye Renrong repeatedly tried to strike up conversations with Ni Mengxue, sometimes praising her and sometimes finding excuses to talk to her.

"Miss Ni, I’m genuinely amazed by your courage."

She would occasionally turn her attention toward Lu Yucai as well.

"Mr. Lu is truly a good match for you."

Ni Mengxue remained indifferent.

’She’s constantly praising us as a couple. Even if she has some ulterior motive, I’ll deal with her when she makes her move.’

Eventually, the RV stopped at the third-to-last checkpoint, a short distance from Silent Knight Base.

Ye Renrong instinctively looked outside.

Ni Mengxue glanced at her.

"Your stop has arrived. If you want to continue traveling with us, hand over another zombie crystal."

Ye Renrong clenched her fist beneath her sleeve before forcing a smile.

"Miss Ni, how about this? Could you take us on credit? We’ll pay you back with labor."

Melanie snorted.

She wanted to say, ’I told you so,’ but held herself back.

When Ye Renrong glared at her, Melanie merely looked away.

’It’s not that I’m afraid of her. She’s simply not worth arguing with.’

Ye Renrong looked at Ni Mengxue expectantly.

Ni Mengxue didn’t even bother responding.

She simply stepped outside and tapped on the vehicle’s window. One by one, she handed over the food prepared by her in advance.

Soon, she returned to the RV and distributed the food among the people in the living area, including Melanie and Lu Yucai.

However, she didn’t give anything to Ye Renrong or her husbands.

After all, they were Melanie’s ex-husbands now.

Ye Renrong’s eyes immediately reddened.

"Miss Ni, I thought we’d become friends. But it seems you don’t consider me a friend at all. You’re not even willing to share a bite of food with me."

As she spoke, she struggled to swallow her saliva.

’This woman is eating such a large portion right in front of me, yet she isn’t even inviting me to eat.’

Ni Mengxue completely ignored her.

She picked up a piece of stir-fried radish and ate it with the stir-fried cabbage, enjoying the simple meal.

She only missed two things.

Meat and spices.

The supply of spices was already running dangerously low, and she desperately needed to find a way to grow them.

Ni Mengxue blinked. "So surviving a disaster can help the system level up?"

She rubbed her chin thoughtfully. "I wonder what kind of feature will unlock."

For now, however, she was more concerned about Silent Knight Base.

She was getting close to her own base, and construction would soon become one of her biggest priorities.

But after thinking about it, she reconsidered.

’Rather than spending all my points on construction materials, maybe I should focus on attracting people. If I offer them enough benefits, I can persuade some residents from Silent Knight Base to move to mine.’

That would be much more useful.

Ni Mengxue’s complete indifference made Ye Renrong clench her fists.

’This woman isn’t like Melanie at all.’

At least Melanie would react when provoked.

Ye Renrong suddenly turned toward Lu Yucai and softened her voice.

"Mr. Lu, you must be feeling uncomfortable. Your wife doesn’t pay much attention to you and even acts so indifferent toward you. It must be difficult. I can understand how you feel."

She smiled at him innocently.

Her expression was gentle and polite enough to make anyone lower their guard.

Lu Yucai stared at her for a few seconds, clearly puzzled.

Then... Ni Mengxue suddenly stood up.

Ye Renrong frowned and was about to say something when Ni Mengxue grabbed her by the collar.

"What are you..."

Before Ye Renrong could finish, Ni Mengxue dragged her straight toward the door.

A moment later, she was tossed out of the RV like a chicken.

Ye Renrong stumbled onto the ground and immediately shouted, "What are you doing?! What are you doing?!"

With that, Ye Renrong collapsed onto the ground, mud splattering across her face.

Her eyes widened in disbelief as she pointed at Ni Mengxue.

"You? How dare you?"

Behind Ni Mengxue, Melanie’s ex-husbands were furious. One of them even raised his hand and tried to push her.

Ni Mengxue easily dodged.
