Chapter 125: Selfless or Selfish?

All eight husbands immediately stiffened. "Ford!"

Xiao Lin hurriedly shouted at him. "Don’t be greedy! She was the one who saved us, yet you’re saying things like this to her?"

He then turned toward Ni Mengxue with an apologetic smile. "Please forget what my brother said."

Ni Mengxue looked at Xiao Lin. He had a charming appearance and shared the same hair color as Ford.

She chuckled. "At least one of you is smart enough to stop me before I actually do something troublesome."

Xiao Lin’s lips twitched. He could only watch helplessly as Ni Mengxue continued collecting the zombie crystals.

Once Ni Mengxue finished collecting the zombie crystals, she turned around and walked toward the RV.

Melanie had expected her to say something.

Instead, Ni Mengxue didn’t even look back.

Melanie clenched her fists and glanced at her husbands. All eight of them had gathered around Ye Renrong, who was crying and sobbing.

"It’s all my fault. I acted irrationally and caused Ford to be scolded for no reason."

Ford and the others continuously tried to console her.

Melanie looked at them, then at Ni Mengxue, who had already reached the RV.

She suddenly felt exhausted. "I am going to divorce all of you."

The moment she said this, all eight men fell silent. Ford was the first to react.

"You are truly too much of a handful. Since you think we’re beneath you, then we won’t continue this marriage. Just sign the divorce papers."

Melanie stared at him. She was thoroughly disappointed.

Without saying anything else, she calmly took out a set of divorce documents and signed them one by one.

Then she handed them to her eight husbands. None of them tried to stop her. They simply stared at the documents in silence.

Eric suddenly became agitated. "So you wanted to divorce us all along, didn’t you? Ye Renrong was telling us the truth!"

Melanie smiled faintly.

"These divorce papers were actually something your dear Ye Renrong asked me to prepare. She subtly hinted that all of you were beneath my station and that I shouldn’t have to tolerate you."

She looked at the eight men.

"I used to think she was deliberately sowing discord between us. But now that I’ve thought everything through, I realize something. She’s not particularly smart. All of you are either too stupid or simply pretending to be stupid."

She didn’t wait for their response.

Ignoring the rotting smell assaulting her nose, Melanie turned and walked toward the RV. Compared to the outside, the RV seemed like the only place completely free of the stench.

When she reached the RV, she knocked on the door.

Ni Mengxue and the others were already inside, but they hadn’t left yet.

For some reason, that gave Melanie a little hope.

The door opened.

Melanie hesitated before asking, "Can I come in?"

There was silence for a moment. Just when Melanie thought she would be refused, Ni Mengxue’s stern voice came from inside.

"Come in. But don’t bring any trash with you."

Melanie’s lips twitched. She stepped inside and closed the door behind her.

Outside, Ye Renrong suddenly looked toward the RV.

She quickly turned to Ford.

"Wait. Does Melanie have some kind of relationship with those people? We should hitch a ride with them. If we stay here in the middle of nowhere without any superhuman abilities, we’ll eventually die. We should go with them or at least follow them."

Ford waved his hand arrogantly. "We survived perfectly well without her help. We don’t need to follow her."

Ye Renrong clenched her teeth.

"Still, I don’t think we should be arrogant. All of you are exhausted after that fight. Melanie was protected most of the time, while the rest of you did most of the fighting. At the very least, you should get some compensation from her."

Ford fell silent.

Eric frowned. "No. That logic doesn’t make sense. We’ve already gotten the divorce we wanted."

He paused and looked at Ye Renrong. "Do you want to travel with those people?"

The atmosphere instantly turned cold. In the distance, the roars of zombies echoed through the wilderness.

For a moment, it felt as though everything around them had gone silent.

Ye Renrong quickly shook her head.

"You’re misunderstanding me. I was only concerned about all of you. Since my concern is being interpreted this way, I won’t say anything more."

She lowered her gaze before adding softly,

"But let me tell you one thing. Melanie is someone capable of taking other people’s fortune away. If she leaves, your fortune will leave with her as well."

She looked at them. "If I were in your position, I would definitely follow her."

The moment she mentioned the word ’fortune’, all eight men stared at her in shock.

They couldn’t believe what they were hearing.

Half a year ago, Ye Renrong had joined their team.

From the beginning, she had claimed that she could predict certain future events. She had also helped them obtain several valuable opportunities.

For example, they had once encountered a supermarket that wasn’t looted. Thanks to Ye Renrong’s warning, they had arrived in time and managed to gather a large amount of food.

That food had helped them survive and eventually secure a decent place to live in a base.

They had also continued hunting alongside her.

As long as Ye Renrong was with them, battles against mutated beasts, mutated animals, and even zombies seemed strangely easy.

It was because of her so-called lucky constitution.

She had secretly told each of them that she possessed a special constitution that attracted good luck. She also claimed that she could see other people’s superpowers.

Melanie, for example, supposedly possessed two abilities: space and fire.

However, Melanie had never revealed her space ability to the others.

They had eventually discovered it by accident when they saw her take medicine out of thin air.

That was when they realized that the Melanie they had once thought was kind and selfless, the woman who always put them before herself, had been hiding things from them.
