CAIUS: Crown of Threads and Shadows
CHAPTER 281: THE BLADES OF THE EXECUTIONER
The cold moonlight of the Red Realm washed over the jagged black stone of the Pyramid of the Wolf. At its base, the one hundred and three dark elves, formerly the citadel's perimeter wardens and shadow scouts, stood in perfect, silent formation. Their slender, lethal frames were cloaked in dark leather, their sharp eyes reflecting the faint solar-shadow glow pulsing from the pyramid's entrance.
Caius stepped to the edge of the stone dais, flanked by Old Bones, whose newly ascended obsidian wings phase-shifted invisibly behind his back.
Caius looked down at the dark elf scouts, then turned his golden-and-obsidian eyes toward his steward.
"As my steward and executioner, you need attendants," Caius said, his voice ringing with quiet, absolute authority. "These one hundred and three will be your blades."
Old Bones bowed his head, a rare, cold smile touching his lips as he looked upon his dark elf kin. "They could ask for no higher purpose, My Sovereign."
Caius turned back to the dark elves and gestured toward the roaring runic archway of the pyramid. "Enter the Vault of the Wolf. Let its kinetic shadow purge every fraction of mortal weakness from your veins. Emerge not merely as scouts, but as the phantom executioners of my court."

Without a second of hesitation, the one hundred and three dark elves turned and vanished into the abyssal depths of the pyramid.
Inside, the trial of the Shadow Wolf was relentless. The shadow-kinetic furnace battered their souls, stripping away physical limitations and replacing them with hyper-dense shadow lattice. The wolf's predatory instincts bound directly to their dark elf bloodline, granting them absolute domain perception, spatial stealth, and the ability to ride through sub-dimensional shadows as fluidly as water.
When the heavy stone gates reopened, a silent wave of cold, oppressive shadow spilled across the plaza.
The dark elves stepped forth, completely reborn as the Shadow Assassins of Caius's Dominion. Their forms were clad in sleek, light-absorbing obsidian suits woven with shadow-silk. Their eyes burned with a piercing, silvery-grey radiance, and twin curved phantom daggers hummed with kinetic shadow energy at their hips. They moved without producing a single vibration in the air or a single sound against the stone floor.
In absolute, terrifying unison, the one hundred and three Shadow Assassins dropped to one knee before Old Bones, their phantom blades drawn and crossed over their chests in a pledge of absolute servitude to the Executioner.
Old Bones stepped forward, raising a hand as his own dark obsidian wings flickered briefly in the moonlight.
"Rise, my blades. Our Sovereign's domain expands, and we shall clear its path in silence."
