CAIUS: Crown of Threads and Shadows
CHAPTER 252: THE SOLAR LEGION
Leaving the inner sanctuary of the ziggurat, Caius stepped out onto the elevated terrace overlooking the vast mountain valley and pressed two fingers against the silver-black fourth-dimensional stud embedded in the center of his forehead. The spatial anchor thrummed, opening a direct telepathic conduit into the expanse where the twenty-one thousand Bead-Bound souls were held, and his voice resonated directly inside every one of their minds like a thunderclap.
"Listen closely," Caius broadcasted, his tone ice-cold, unyielding, and laced with a terrifying edge. "You have three days to master the cultivation method I am about to give you. Those who fail to learn it in three days will eat shit, and I am going to make sure you love it for eternity while you dine in shit. And remember this: if we lose the upcoming battle, there will be no Dimension Bead left for you to hide in. Every single one of you will die."
Before the soul-forms could even process the dark horror of his threat, Caius’s Crown Core flared as thousands of thread-like rays of brilliant white light erupted from his mind, shooting out like radiant needles into the inner dimension. Each thread pierced the crown points of all twenty-one thousand soul-forms simultaneously, forcibly injecting the neural pathways for a customized hybrid technique known as the Sun Calamity Forge.
Right behind the forced cultivation loop, Caius flooded their minds with the martial architecture of his army formation Codex, immediately re-ordering the twenty-one thousand souls into twenty-one distinct, one-thousand-man square cohorts sorted strictly by racial characteristics. The heavy, scaled Croc-heads and broad-shouldered Bull-heads were assigned to the central anvil as the dense, immovable core of the battle line, while the agile Bird-heads and versatile Human souls were placed on the wings as swift, lethal hammers meant to envelop and flank the enemy.

Driven by sheer, unadulterated terror of Caius’s threat and the impending horde, every single soldier pushed their soul-forms beyond their natural limits, and within seventy-two hours, the impossible was achieved as twenty-one thousand cores ignited in unison across the dimension, radiating a blinding, unified tide of golden-white solar mana. Over the next seven days, Old Bones took command of their physical manifestation on the staging grounds outside the pyramid, working alongside the red-haired general who had risen from the ranks to lead the vanguard to put the legion through relentless drills.
Meanwhile, the Arachne weaversmiths worked tirelessly to equip the forces because heavy iron plate was out of the question due to scarce metal reserves, creating lightweight composite armor instead by reinforcing thin hide plating with intricate, lattice-woven Crown Threads that were far stronger and lighter than forged steel, equipping each soldier with a heavy tower shield, a long thrusting spear, and a broad, leaf-bladed short sword for close-quarters combat.
By the end of the week, the valley floor shook under the rhythmic stomping of twenty-one thousand boots. At the center of the dusty parade ground, the red-haired general stood atop a wooden command platform with his broadsword raised toward the sky as he barked orders across the ranks, while below him the twenty-one thousand solar-attuned soldiers moved in terrifying, machine-like synchronization.
At a single horn blow, the Croc and Bull cohorts locked their thread-reinforced shields into an impenetrable wall with spears jutting out like a forest of gleaming teeth, while the Human and Bird-head wings swept outward in flawless flank maneuvers with their weapons blazing in golden-white light. Watching from the high steps of the ziggurat, Old Bones folded his arms inside his ivory sleeves with a cold, satisfied grin touching his lips beneath his cowl, knowing full well that the ragtag souls had ceased to be a mere horde of captives and had instead become a weapon ready to slaughter the Nerathil.
