Chapter 207

Soon, an entire day passed in the blink of an eye, and before Alex even realized it, the clock had already reached seven fifty in the evening. The day had actually gone surprisingly well.

After Celine left that morning, Alex had spent most of the day with Doris checking the rest of Nyx’s companies and businesses. There had been quite a few things that needed attention, especially since Nyx had been wanting to deal with some matters before the incident.

Together, Alex and Doris had gone through several reports, inspected some of the company’s operations, and even fired a few corrupt managers who had been exploiting their positions for personal gain. Apparently, Nyx had already been planning to deal with them before everything surrounding the family incident happened.

Alex couldn’t help feeling that it was somewhat satisfying to clean up the mess before those people could cause even more trouble.

He had also checked on BluePeak. Unlike some of the other businesses, there wasn’t much to worry about there. The company itself was doing exceptionally well.

The app Alex had proposed during the business meeting quite some while back had finally been released to the public not too long ago, and just as he had predicted, it had immediately become a hit.

The sales figures were already through the roof, and the number of users was increasing rapidly every day.

Alex had spent some time looking through the latest reports and couldn’t help smiling.

If things continued at this rate, it was only a matter of time before BluePeak became a giant in its own right. He even thought of using his knowledge of the future to help Nyx’s companies, but that’ll be another time.

While he was there, he had even encountered a familiar face. The person was Andre. The moment the man saw Alex, his expression had immediately brightened, and the two had spent some time talking about how things were going.

Andre seemed to be doing very well at BluePeak. In fact, he appeared far more energetic than the last time Alex had seen him.

The man had spent half the conversation calling Alex his benefactor, much to Alex’s amusement. By the time Alex finally returned home, the sun had already disappeared beyond the horizon.

Now, however, there was no time to think about business. Alex stood in his penthouse, looking at the clock on the wall which was seven fifty on the dot.

Ten minutes. Just ten short minutes. That was all the time remaining before he would head out to help Celine deal with Marcus.

The thought made a faint cold smile appear on his handsome face.

"So this is finally happening."

He had spent just about enough time dealing with that sick son of a b*itch ever since that gambling competition. Now he was going straight for the man himself. This was good in a way because if Marcus and those loyal to him died, then he could take over his faction, eliminate the heinous crime, and build some power for himself.

Or maybe he could just have it added to Nyx’s side, since his life was going to get a whole lot busier with the whole battling monsters and trying to create meaningful relationships with women, particularly Awakeneds to improve his personal strength.

Alex had already changed into black clothes that blended naturally with the darkness outside. The outfit was simple and comfortable, allowing him to move without restriction.

He checked his phone one last time before slipping it into his pocket, wondering when she was going to contact him, when as if the universe heard his words, his phone suddenly chimed.

Overjoyed, Alex pulled it out and looked at the screen. An unknown number had sent him a message and it only contained an address. Alex stared at it for a moment before a knowing smile appeared on his face.

It was that woman, Celine. Thank gosh she had found a way to contact him just as she had promised. Alex then made sure to memorize the location before putting his phone away.

"Let’s see what kind of place Marcus has been hiding in."

He walked toward the entrance of his penthouse and opened the door. After stepping outside, he locked it behind him.

Then his figure suddenly disappeared, and a sharp gust of wind swept through the road a moment later as Alex dashed forward at supersonic speeds.

The distance that would have normally taken an ordinary person a long time to travel disappeared beneath his feet in mere moments.

By the time Alex arrived at the location on the message, only a minute or two had passed. He slowed down his speed and stopped several streets away from the destination. Then narrowed his eyes as he looked ahead.

Even from this distance, he could see the massive compound.

Let’s just say, it was nothing short of impressive, considering the towering, heavily fortified fence surrounding the entire property, that stood nearly four meters tall and was reinforced with several layers of security equipment.

Behind it stood a sprawling villa, with its ginormous structure looking more like a private fortress than a residence. Which made sense since this was the den of an underworld ruler and not some private mansion.

He sneered.

"So this is the famous faction den, huh?"

Alex mumbled to himself before crouching down slightly and suddenly jumping into the air.

His body soared high over the fence, giving him a clear view of the entire compound. And he immediately began scanning the area, most especially for those damned security cameras.

There were quite a few of them. Maybe around three or so in total to be exact. One was positioned along the walls, another was near the entrance, while the last was hidden among the surrounding structures.

Alex carefully memorized every camera’s position and the areas they covered. After confirming all their locations in his mind, he descended quietly back toward the ground.

He didn’t bother trying to sneak through the obvious entrance. Instead, he activated Void Step, and in the next moment, his figure disappeared. When Alex reappeared, he was standing in a shadowy corner between two large structures.

A perfect blind spot. One that none of the nearby security cameras could see him from this position. Alex glanced around before activating Void Step again.

Celine had already told him where she would be waiting so he just had to go there. Fortunately, the distance was still within the range of his ability.

A second later, he appeared several meters away from a small warehouse building near the edge of the compound, where a figure was standing there.

It was Celine, thank goodness. But the moment Alex appeared, Celine’s body reacted instinctively.

Her hand began forming Deathfrost Bloom, but when she recognized the person standing before her, the tension immediately disappeared.

"You scared me. Next time don’t be so sneaky. I almost lodged a shard to your brain. Enough of that, now let’s discuss the plan."

Alex nodded.

"Go ahead."

Celine glanced toward the main mansion.

"There are approximately one thousand five hundred people inside the compound tonight. With almost all of them being just ordinary members of the faction. But there are eight Awakened here aside from me."

Alex’s eyes narrowed slightly.

"Eight?"

"Four are Early Realms. One is Vanguard Realm. And the remaining three are those Ascendants realm people we were talking about earlier."

Alex’s expression became slightly more serious.

"The three mercenaries, right?"

Celine nodded.

"They’re currently inside the meeting room with Marcus. And I just noticed not too long that those three Ascendants are pretending to be Vanguard Realm experts. If I didn’t know about it, even I would have been deceived.... As for Marcus’s family, they aren’t here tonight."

Alex looked at her.

"You’re sure?"

"Yes. I’ve already confirmed it."

Celine’s expression hardened.

"But that doesn’t change anything. After we finish here, his family will still be dealt with. We will spare no one."

Alex didn’t comment on that. Instead, he asked, "So what’s the plan?"

Celine looked toward the mansion.

"One of the three Ascendants has always had his eyes on me for quite sometime now, but I never spared him so much as a glance and luckily he had the brains not to try anything funny. So I’ll try to lure him out."

Alex’s eyes narrowed.

"Kind of like a beauty trap?"

Celine gave him an annoyed look.

"Yes or what else do you think I should use other than that?" She continued before he could say anything else. "Okay. So I’ll make him believe I’m interested in him. Once I lead him somewhere isolated, I’ll finish him as swiftly as possible while his guard is down."

"Then that will mean there will only be two Ascendants left."

Celine nodded.

"Exactly. Of which only the two of us should be able to handle them."

Alex remained silent for several seconds. The plan itself wasn’t complicated. But he was still worried that something might go wrong. But if things really did, he would just teleport out of there with Celine in his arms. Still, he had to ask,

"Are you absolutely certain you can kill him quickly? Look, If you fail to kill him immediately, it’ll turn into a battle between you and him. And I don’t have to remind you how destructive an Ascendant battle can be."

His voice became more serious.

"The moment the two of you start fighting seriously, the others will notice. Once that happens, our advantage disappears.Besides make sure that man doesn’t touch you, if not I might just be the one who kills him first."
