Building The Perfect Harem With My Heavenly Desire System
Chapter 206: I Can Help You. But...
Chapter 206
"Yesterday, that was when everything changed." Celine’s voice became almost emotionless. "I happened to be passing by when I overheard Marcus talking to one of his trusted subordinates... T-to... bury Dawn’s body."
Celine’s lips trembled as hot tears finally spilled across her beautiful face.
"Marcus said that if it weren’t for me, he would have harvested her organs years ago. He said he had kept her alive because she was useful for controlling me. But then when his person asked how she had died since she was still useful."
Celine wiped the tear away almost immediately and said in a weak voice.
"He said Dawn had died unexpectedly because.... his monster of a son had forcefully... s-slept with her while drunk and she was too weak to even handle it."
Alex’s expression turned cold and for the first time since he laid eyes on this woman, her voice broke.
"He killed her. His son killed my sister! And he ordered his subordinate to make sure nobody discovered she was dead." Her eyes became bloodshot. "He wanted them to find another girl with a similar build and to have her face changed so that she would look exactly like Dawn and not rouse my suspicion."
She clenched her fist so tightly that her fingernails cut deep into her palm, causing a thin line of blood to appear. At the same time, the temperature in a 1km radius began to plummet low and the warmth of the morning disappeared like dust as black frost began forming across the nearby window.
Most people that were strolling outside couldn’t help clutching their clothes tightly and shivering in the face of the unnatural cold phenomenon. All wondering why the weather was so freezing cold when winter was still far off.
Meanwhile, back inside, Alex stared at her. This time he really stared at her. Because this was like the first time since meeting Celine, that he wasn’t seeing an assassin trying to kill him.
What he was seeing now was an older sister who had lost the only family she had ever known. He couldn’t help but sympathize with her. Then as Alex recalled what she had told, he couldn’t help tightening his fist unconsciously.
That bastard. That absolute fucking pig of a person and his disgusting son with the mind of an animal. He had already disliked Marcus.
But now he wanted to see the man’s corpse himself. He wanted to see the man and that disgusting son of his willingly beg for death themselves.
Celine suddenly looked toward Alex, with her beautiful eyes still red but now firm.
"If you help me... I’ll agree to anything you ask."
"Anything?"
Celine’s expression was filled with determination.
"Yes, anything at all. Even if you want me to become your slave I will willingly do it. As long as you promise to help me."
"I want to avenge my sister by killing Marcus and everyone related to him. I want to watch the ground turn into a river of blood. All I want right now is to kill Marcus and his son."
The room became silent after those cold and terrifying words from her. Alex looked at Celine for several seconds. He was furious. He was disgusted. And more importantly, he understood why she had come to him.
But Alex wasn’t going to let his emotions make his decisions for him. Yes she was in his harem slot in the system, making him responsible for her. But that didn’t mean he was just going to help her for free. Maybe in the future when she loved him genuinely, but for now that she still didn’t see him in a good eye he couldn’t do that because,
This was a golden opportunity to make a request that will improve their relationship and if possible, bring them closer. The closer they got, the more Desire Energy needed to grow stronger than ever before.
He slowly picked up the glass of orange juice and took a sip before placing it back down. Then he looked directly into Celine’s bloodshot eyes and said.
"I can help you. But I won’t do it for free... You will... On a second thought, I’ll tell you what I want after we complete the task. But how do I know that you will not renegade on your word."
For several seconds, Celine didn’t answer.
Alex watched as her expression changed slightly. She clearly understood what he was asking. She was asking him to trust her with his life and help her kill one of the most powerful man in the city with three freaking Ascendant Realm experts, while all she could offer him was a promise that she would fulfill his request afterward.
Under normal circumstances, that wasn’t exactly a reassuring deal. Celine slowly lowered her gaze. The thought of him really asking something outrageous in the end didn’t sit well with her, but when she thought of her dead sister, Celine made her decision and said in a serious voice.
"My sister was the most precious thing in the world to me." Her voice was quiet, but there wasn’t the slightest trace of hesitation within it. "I don’t have parents. I don’t have a family. I don’t have anyone else I care about enough to swear on." She looked directly into Alex’s eyes. "So I swear on Dawn."
Alex’s expression became slightly more serious. Celine clenched her fist again.
"I swear on my sister that after we finish this task, I will agree to whatever demand you make. No matter how outrageous it is."
Her voice remained firm.
"I will not go back on my word no matter what."
Alex studied her for several seconds.
Swearing on Dawn wasn’t something Celine would do lightly. From everything she had just told him, Dawn was obviously the most important person she had ever had in her life.
If there was one thing that Celine would never willingly disrespect, it was probably her sister’s memory. So he chose to trust her.
Eventually, Alex nodded.
"Okay."
Celine’s expression remained serious as she waited for what he would say next. Alex leaned back against the couch and crossed one leg over the other.
"So when are we going to deal with Marcus?"
Celine became silent. She appeared to be thinking carefully about his question as her eyes gradually returned to normal. The frost covering the nearby window slowly stopped spreading as well, although the temperature inside the apartment was still much colder than it should have been.
Finally, she answered.
"Today."
Alex raised an eyebrow.
"Today? Isn’t that kind of fast."
"Yes, today." Celine nodded. "Marcus has a schedule from eight in the morning until ten at his company because of a business collaboration. After that, he’ll be busy with other matters until seven in the evening."
She paused briefly.
"By eight in the evening, he should be at the faction den discussing matters related to his faction group."
Alex’s expression became thoughtful.
Eight in the evening, huh. That actually worked quite well for him.
By then, he would probably be done checking on Nyx’s other businesses with Doris. That is unless something unexpected happened, but there wasn’t anything particularly important waiting for him that evening.
Besides, night would be useful.
Marcus clearly wasn’t an ordinary man, especially now that Alex knew he had three Ascendant Realm Awakened mercenaries secretly connected to him.
The darker environment would give them a certain advantage in the element of surprise.
Not that Alex particularly needed the darkness to defeat three Ascendants.
Still, every little advantage mattered when they were going against someone like that crafty old fox.
"Eight in the evening works for me," Alex finally said. "I should be free by then."
Celine nodded.
"Good."
Alex glanced toward the window.
"Besides, attacking at night makes things easier. The darkness should help us complete the task without drawing too much attention."
Celine didn’t disagree. After all, this wasn’t going to be some public challenge where they would walk through the front door and announce their intentions to everyone inside.
Their objective was simple; kill Marcus and his family. Then deal with anyone foolish enough to stand in their way. After coming to an agreement, Celine slowly stood up from the couch.
"How are you going to contact me?" Alex couldn’t help asking.
"I’ll find a way."
Alex raised an eyebrow.
"That’s very reassuring."
Celine ignored his sarcasm. She turned around and began walking toward the entrance of the apartment. Her steps were slow and steady, but Alex could tell that something had changed.
The cold assassin who had always looked at him with hostility had finally lowered her guard enough to ask him for help. It was a start in the right direction.
Celine stopped at the door. For a brief moment, she remained there without looking back. Then she quietly said in a faint voice.
"Thank you."
Alex’s eyes widened slightly. Before he could respond, Celine opened the door and walked outside, closing the door behind her. Followed by the sound of sonic booms from breaking the speed of sound.
Alex remained sitting on the couch, staring at the spot where she had been standing only seconds earlier. After a few moments, he let out a long sigh.
