Chapter 237: Chapter 152: Dare to Steal My People? I’ll Make Him Return in Utter Defeat
[Ding! Your territory’s Soldier Type, tree spirit, has exceeded 30 in number. Bond activated: Movement Speed +15%]
Shen Xing noticed that the Bond was for "tree spirit," not "Tree-man Warrior."
’Does this mean they, along with the Ancient Tree Guards and the War Ancient Tree, are all considered the same Soldier Type and can share Bonds?’
He narrowed his eyes.
This meant it would be much easier to reach the hundred-unit Bond for the tree spirit Soldier Type.
Even a Boss Level Soldier Type like the War Ancient Tree could benefit from the Bond’s Effect.
Filled with anticipation, he randomly picked a Tree-man Warrior and checked its Attributes.
[Tree-man Warrior]
[Level: 5]
[Potential: Ordinary ★★★]
[Attributes: Power 15, Spirit 13, Agility 9, Constitution 17]
[Skills: Trunk Strike (Swings its thick branches to smash enemies in front, causing knockback or knockdown), Tree Bark Hardening (Covers its body with hard bark, reducing Physical Damage by 25% and granting immunity to Bleeding)]
[Talent: Rooted (Re-roots into the earth to recover a small amount of health per second and resist being knocked back)]
[Bonds: tree spirit (30 units, activated)]
[Talent: 11+10 (Excellent)]
...
’Not bad. For an Ordinary Three-Star Soldier Type, they’re quite good.’
’Plus, they can use Rooted to heal themselves. They’re the perfect defensive Soldier Type.’
With a wave of his hand, Shen Xing left behind a hundred Soul Stones and taught these Tree-man Warriors how to absorb them.
Thanks to their 21 points of Talent, even though these tree spirits couldn’t speak, their ability to learn was still quite high. They mastered the process after he showed them just a few times.
The Tree-man Warriors extended their branches one by one, piercing the fingernail-sized Soul Stones and drawing out the Energy contained within.
Shen Xing watched for a moment, and once he confirmed there were no issues, he left the clearing.
The woman was still behind him, silently pushing his wheelchair with her head lowered and a faint blush on her face.
"You can go back to your work. I can manage on my own," Shen Xing said, glancing back at her.
"Ah..." The woman paused, then nodded lightly. "Yes, Lord."
She gave a slight bow, then turned and walked briskly toward the farmlands, her wide, millstone-sized hips swaying as she went.
Shen Xing pushed the wheelchair himself, heading toward the Inner City District.
As he passed the city gate, a tall Orc with arms as thick as tree trunks strode quickly toward him.
It was Dahou.
However, his expression was extremely grave, and he looked deeply troubled.
"Boss, something’s happened!" Dahou lowered his voice, his tone filled with unconcealable anxiety and frustration.
"What is it?"
"A few of our brothers have gone missing!" Dahou clenched his fists. "And it wasn’t just overnight. People have been disappearing for two days straight."
Shen Xing’s brow furrowed. "What’s the exact situation?" he asked in a low voice. "Tell me everything in detail."
The Dual-Axe Orc recalled for a moment before explaining, "Around the morning of the day before yesterday, the Orcs on patrol noticed two of our brothers were missing."
"I originally thought they were just slacking off and sleeping somewhere. I was planning to teach them a good lesson when they got back."
"But a whole night passed, and those two Orcs still hadn’t appeared."
"And then this morning, a few more of our brothers went missing."
Dahou’s voice was filled with self-reproach. "I took some men and searched all morning, but we couldn’t find a single clue."
"As of now, five brothers have vanished without a trace."
Shen Xing’s expression grew grim as he listened.
Members had been disappearing for two days straight, and no one in the entire territory had noticed a thing.
It was true that strange monsters often emerged from the Fog, and occasionally a Soldier Type would be dragged in and devoured.
But with the Orcs’ vigilance and the territory’s current defenses, it was impossible for something like this to happen without anyone noticing.
There was only one explanation: an entity with an extremely powerful Stealth Ability was secretly targeting the Orcs.
’In other words,’ he thought, ’someone has their eyes on my territory.’
"It has to be those Skinners!"
An agitated voice came from behind.
Shen Xing turned his head and immediately saw West striding over, his large belly sticking out.
"West, how can you be so sure it’s the Skinners?"
"Because this is their classic M.O.," West said, grinding his teeth. "First, they shadow their target, then they test them, and then they slowly chip away at their strength."
"Once they’re sure the target can’t fight back effectively, they strike all at once to annihilate them."
Shen Xing froze for a second. ’Isn’t that my fucking strategy?’
’But... how did these guys find my territory?’
He cupped his chin and quickly reasoned through the situation.
According to Dahou, the first Orc disappeared on the night of the day before yesterday.
That was the day he had returned from the Black Heaven’s Wings Mountain Range and brought West back to the territory.
’In that case, it’s very likely a Skinner was following me then and traced me back to my territory, isn’t it?’
"Lord Shen Xing, it’s highly likely these guys have targeted your territory. You must be careful."
West warned with a grave expression, "Knowing the Skinners’ style, anyone they target usually meets a miserable end."
"They’re like a pack of starving wolves—they won’t rest until their prey is torn to shreds!"
"Don’t worry." Shen Xing narrowed his eyes, a hint of coldness in his voice. "I was just wondering where I could find them. Perfect timing for them to deliver themselves to my doorstep."
’Motherfuckers,’ he thought. ’They dare steal my people? They must have a death wish!’
’Even if they were just a few ordinary Orcs, they will pay for this in blood.’
Shen Xing thought for a moment and quickly made a decision.
However, he didn’t act immediately, instead telling the others to keep the matter quiet for now.
