Chapter 216: Chapter 145: The Surprised Xia Lingyin, the Hidden Cost of the Rain God Statue
After all, he wanted to reach Level 16 as quickly as possible so he could use the Rain Saint.
"CRACK! CRACKLE!"
A dense web of cracks appeared on the surface of one Soul Stone after another as the pure Energy they contained was drawn into his body.
Shen Xing felt warm currents flowing slowly through his veins, subtly transforming his body.
Moreover, his Spirit Attribute had increased significantly after his breakthrough to the Extraordinary rank.
While absorbing the Soul Stones, he could even spare enough focus to switch out of the Land of Mist and open the forums to check the day’s hot topics.
’Talk about multitasking. Cultivating and slacking off at the same time.’
Most of the content on the forums today revolved around the new event.
The three options at the Rain God Statue, in particular, had sparked a great deal of discussion.
Dai Mao King Aili: "Bros, if you find a Rain God Statue, whatever you do, DO NOT pick the third option. You’ll definitely regret it!"
Ah Helk: "Damn it, you’re too late! I already fell for it, and it’s absolute agony!"
Eat My New Year’s Swordsmanship: "Is it really that bad? You just can’t move. Lying down for a few days should fix it, right?"
Ah Helk: "What the hell do you know?! It’s not as simple as not being able to move. Your entire body is locked up. You can’t function normally at all."
"Can you even fucking imagine the despair of facing two 36D bombshells in black nylons and only being able to stare?!"
Mung Bean Soup is Delicious: "Holy crap! It’s that bad? Man, you might as well just kill me. Thank God I didn’t pick that option."
Daodaoquan: "Yeah, that’s brutal! What a trap!"
Bamboo Wife: "Haha, luckily I’m a girl, so I’m not affected in that way."
Reading the discussion, Shen Xing sucked in a sharp breath and frantically checked his pants.
A moment later, he let out a slight sigh of relief. ’Thank goodness, thank goodness. I’m not affected.’
’Damn, listening to them, the price really is terrifying.’
’If you chose the third option twice in a row, you wouldn’t be able to get an erection for at least a month. What man could possibly endure that?’
’Good thing my Fog Flower absorbed the effect, otherwise this would be too terrifying!’
He continued scrolling through other posts, this time finding a discussion about refugees and Talent.
Sworn to Be the Lord of This World: "Haha, my territory finally recruited its first batch of refugees! And they even have combat strength, which is awesome. The only thing is, their eyes are red, and they occasionally breathe fire."
Little Bellybutton of the Snake Spirit: "Should we tell him that those refugees have Mad Fire Syndrome? They were probably kicked out of the major cities."
Offending Mei Yangyang: "Oh, the poor little newbie. His village is about to be burned to the ground by those refugees."
Yunai-chan: "Having a lot of refugees isn’t necessarily a good thing. They’re a pain to manage, and you have to feed them. If you ask me, just kill them all and turn them into emergency rations."
Emiya Kiritsugu: "Dude, that’s a little extreme."
Shen Xing silently scrolled through the comments and continued to read.
"Bros, have you guys seen the foreign forums? A Master Level expert from the Earth Bear Country posted their Hero’s stats today. Their Talent is as high as 67. That’s the highest I’ve seen so far."
"67 Talent, that’s insane! The Hero of an Expert Level Lord from the Celestial Star Country I saw only had 45 Talent."
"From the posts I saw people showing off today, most were in the 20s or 30s for Talent. Even the best Heroes only have Talent in the 60s."
"I’m so jealous. I’d be happy with a Hero that had 60... no, even 50 Talent. Right now, my territory is full of morons with less than 10 Talent, and it gives me a headache just looking at them."
"Keep dreaming. 50 Talent? You should be thanking your lucky stars if you have anyone over 20 in your territory."
Shen Xing also replied below: "Yeah, you’re right. High-Talent people are so rare. I’m really jealous."
...
...
At the same time.
In a lone manor by the lake, a girl in a white dress sat up in bed, opening her pale eyes.
She held out her palm, and the Fog Flower on her arm began to spin slowly, releasing a torrent of Fog.
When the Fog dissipated, three crystal-clear water droplets, shimmering with a pure aura, were revealed.
The girl in the white dress felt her way out of the room and down to the living room on the first floor.
"Wanyin, you logged off so early?"
The long, black-haired girl lying on the sofa opened her eyes and turned her head to ask.
"Mhm, I’ve done enough exploring for today," Xia Wanyin replied softly, then added, "Lingyin, I brought something good for you."
"Something good? What kind of good things could you possibly have?" Xia Lingyin glanced at her and waved a dismissive hand. "Keep it for yourself. Focus on raising your own strength first. You don’t need to be in a rush to help me."
"It’s not like that. This will really be useful to you," Xia Wanyin said, her tone a bit anxious. She opened her palm, revealing the three pure water droplets.
"This is..."
The long-haired girl sensed them for a moment, and her pupils trembled slightly. "Are these... Rain Dew Pearls? The kind that can directly increase your Level?"
"That’s right!" Xia Wanyin nodded. "Didn’t you say you were leveling up really slowly? These should be perfect for you."
"I remember you can only get Rain Dew Pearls by choosing the third option at a ’Rain God Altar’," the long-haired girl said, glancing at Xia Wanyin. "How did you get so many of them?"
"My friend gave them to me. You know, the one I told you about before, who got the Ancient Tree Seed."
Xia Wanyin explained, "We cleared a lot of statues together today. I was in charge of scanning with my [Heart Eye] Talent, and he was in charge of picking the options. Then we split the rewards."
"He split them with you?" There was a note of surprise in Xia Lingyin’s voice. "Do you have any idea how high the price for that third option is? Even I wouldn’t dare to choose it lightly."
