Chapter 138: Chapter 104: Demon Army, Points Skyrocket

"Whew..."

Shen Xing breathed out a hot breath. "I finally reached Level 9," he mused. "And I got quite a few Attributes this time."

Unlike before Level 5, each level-up only granted a pitiful four or five points. Once randomly distributed across the Four-dimensional Attributes, it only amounted to an increase of one or two points in each.

It was different after Level 5. Nearly every level came with an attribute bonus of over ten points, a very noticeable improvement.

Moreover, Shen Xing had researched the attribute growth curves of other Lords on the forums.

With the exception of those born with astonishing Constitutions—for instance, Second Generation Lords like Yu Feifei or third-generation ones like Gu Feng.

Because their parents or grandparents were powerful Lords, their family genetics were strong, making them gifted with exceptional Talent from birth.

As a result, the Attributes they gained with each level-up were a cut above other players.

There was nothing to be done about it. Who could you blame but their good fortune in birth?

How could a Novice Lord like him expect to compete with generations of accumulation?

As for ordinary Lords, the value of the Four-dimensional Attributes they gained per level was about the same as the Three-dimensional Attributes Shen Xing gained.

In other words, the previously mentioned attribute compensation mechanism was also in effect during level-ups.

’That’s not bad,’ Shen Xing thought. ’At least now with every level-up, aside from my Agility being zero, my other three Attributes are higher than other players’.’

Shen Xing analyzed the situation and glanced at his Level. "However, I’ve already reached Level 9, the Full Level."

"Next, I need to prepare the materials to break through to Tier Two Extraordinary."

The method for a Lord to advance was actually quite similar to that of a Soldier Type.

Soldier Types needed to absorb various Advancement Materials to break through their shackles.

Lords, on the other hand, needed to fuse with something called a [Lord’s Heart] and then bind their consciousness to their territory’s core structure—the [Campfire]—to become Extraordinary.

This material had a chance to drop only from certain powerful monsters.

Of course, you could also buy one from the Anomaly Handling Bureau.

’I remember the most recent transaction price for a Tier Two Lord’s Heart on the trading channel was around 12 million.’

’I’ll save up some money. After this ranking event ends, I’ll see if I can get my hands on one.’

Shen Xing laid out his plan.

Then, he opened the Points Ranking and took a look.

As expected, his rank had already fallen out of the top one hundred. He was currently at 132nd.

’These top one hundred players are all absolute grinders.’

Shen Xing sighed. "I’ve taken out several waves of monsters and even sent Hei out to explore and kill stray beasts, but my rank still keeps dropping."

"It seems that to maintain my rank, I’d either have to find a special area with a high concentration of monsters or send out a dozen teams to sweep through the Fog."

Obviously, Shen Xing met neither of these conditions.

Just then, he noticed a red dot flashing continuously on the northern edge of the mountain range on his minimap.

It seemed to be near the subterranean Lava Cave that Reina had discovered.

’A flashing red dot means a friendly unit is engaged in combat with an enemy.’

’And in that area, I sent Hellish Roar and Blood Roar...’

Although Shen Xing couldn’t see what was happening there, that wasn’t a problem.

Grand Lord Shen used his world-shocking intellect and, after a mere second of thought, came up with a solution.

’I can roughly determine the state of the battle by checking the number of my territory’s Soldier Types and the increase in my points on the ranking.’

’This move? This is just making reasonable use of the system’s functions.’

He first opened the [Territory Soldier Type Details] and saw that two Beastmen had been killed, which was still within an acceptable range.

But when Shen Xing opened the [Points Ranking], his eyes narrowed.

His points were climbing at a rate visible to the naked eye.

From just over nine hundred, they had already broken past one thousand and were still rising at an astonishing rate.

His rank had also shot up from 132nd to 125th.

’Such a rapid increase... It seems there are a lot of enemies in that place.’

’And two Beastmen have already died, which means Hellish Roar and Blood Roar can’t take the area quickly on their own.’

After a brief moment of contemplation, Shen Xing made his decision. "In that case, I shall go there myself."

"Hweee—" He whistled.

From a corner of the territory, a massive shadow rose at the sound, soaring straight into the sky.

Then, at a startling speed, it flew rapidly toward Shen Xing.

WHOOSH—

A powerful gust of wind slammed into him, nearly knocking him over, wheelchair and all.

Fried Chicken flapped its wings, landing steadily in front of its master, its pair of bright yellow eyes staring straight at him.

Shen Xing leaped nimbly onto its broad back.

He gently patted its back, and Fried Chicken immediately understood, taking him soaring into the air.

However, they didn’t immediately charge out of the Fog. Instead, they flew to an open area on the southern side of the territory.

There, a beautiful, red-haired figure was focused on her sword practice.

Her sword followed her steps, her body as light as a swallow, as beautiful sword flourishes bloomed in the air.

"Reina, I’m heading to the Lava Cave. I’m leaving the territory’s defense to you."

Below, Reina sheathed her sword and stood, nodding. "Alright. May the Hera Goddess protect you."

After giving his instructions for the territory’s defense, Fried Chicken immediately beat its wings and soared high, charging toward the Fog.

The Horse Lantern ignited in mid-air, its orange-yellow flame pushing back the darkness to create a safe zone one hundred meters in diameter.

Then, it transformed into a streak of light, cutting through the heavy rain.

A dozen or so minutes later, Shen Xing had already arrived near the target location on the map.

As far as the eye could see, a vast, pitch-black mountain range stretched across the land.

The mountain itself constantly emitted a black aura that dispersed the gray fog, allowing Shen Xing to see it in its entirety.

The mountain range stretched for an unknown number of kilometers, its interior filled with continuous dark forests and rugged, rolling hills. The patterns on the hills resembled the scales of some ancient creature.
