Brand New Life Online: Rise Of The Goddess Of Harvest
Chapter 2065: Survivors Camp
Blank patted Sailor’s head with forced patience and managed a thin smile before walking toward Elayne.
"I am intrigued. Let’s go," he nodded and looked into the distance where she had already walked ahead, his sharp eyes calmly analyzing their surroundings.
Caves filled with softly glowing crystals stretched in every direction. Giant mushrooms rose toward the high ceiling of the underground space, and something more mysterious lingered in the air.
"Elayne, how many survivors are there? Did you already see them?" Mark asked as he walked closely behind her, trying to keep up with her eager pace.
As the group entered the small village, they quickly met with the rest of the undead who had stayed behind.
Sailor followed them from the rear with a slightly annoyed expression still on his face.
"Geez, these guys are completely head over heels for her," he laughed quietly to himself, smirking a little. "Can’t really blame them though... it’s not just that she’s pretty. Elayne is... a great woman. One in a thousand, if I would dare say so myself."
As he rejoined the main group, Elayne turned and smiled brightly at him. "Thanks for finding the survivors, Sailor! Also, hi!" she greeted the rest of the undead warmly.
The villagers were clearly surprised by the sudden arrival of newcomers, but they quickly began emerging from their simple homes.
Around sixty percent of them were white ghosts, mostly young children and mothers. The remaining forty percent consisted of other noble undead races or a few ordinary undead who had managed to live alongside them.
"W-Who are they?"
"Are they the ones that broke open the gate?"
"What’s happening?!"
"Look over there! A White Ghost too!"
"A Noble among Nobles as well... incredible!"
Among the gathered crowd, a tall and gorgeous young woman stepped forward. Her long white ghostly hair swayed gently in the soft underground wind, and her sharp silver-gold eyes studied the newcomers carefully.
She wore a practical lab coat over black leather pants and sturdy boots, with a simple white sweater underneath. A huge pair of specialized glasses sat on her nose, made from a rare material that allowed her to see far beyond what ordinary eyes could perceive.
"Well, well, well... if it isn’t my little nephew, Blank? I am in complete shock. I never imagined that a shut-in like you would ever step out of his house!" she laughed heartily.
Blank was visibly shocked. His eyes widened for a long moment and all of his previous cool demeanor vanished the instant he recognized her face.
She went by many names, but within the family she was best known as a Crazy Scientist. She was a distant member of his prestigious household who had once governed this very city... well, before it was destroyed by the Hollows and Jester.
"Aunt Marble?!" he exclaimed in disbelief. "You’re alive! I had already given you up for dead after I saw all those Hollows. We destroyed the tower but couldn’t find any trace of you. We assumed the worst — that Jester had eaten you or something similar..."
"Hah! That damn bastard— Wait, you defeated him?!" she gasped, her expression shifting rapidly. "Y-You...! Blank, and these little undead companions?! You defeated a Death Apostle all on your own?! You’re not lying to me, are you?!"
"I am not," Blank answered firmly. "Elayne, you can show her the evidence, right?"
"Oh yeah!" Elayne nodded. "Trickster, come to mama."
She called forth a gigantic zombie covered in colorful mushrooms and dressed in tattered jester clothes.
It was the exact same appearance as that bastard. His mask remained cracked and broken, and faint soul fragments were still tied to the corpse, creating a bizarre and powerful undead servant.
The entire population of the village took a collective step backward as they felt the lingering Aura of Chaos that belonged to Jester — an element he had used not only to destroy but also to control and manipulate the masses.
"T-That’s...! That’s really him?!" Marble gasped. "Impossible. Jester is a Player! He cannot die..."
"Players can die," Elayne stated calmly. "I summoned a powerful Demon from Hell, combined it with the strength of a Zodiac Constellation... or well, two of them... and then completely destroyed his Soul."
"..."
Marble walked closer to the giant undead, carefully admiring its form and residual power while readjusting her glasses. "It is the genuine article..."
"Wow!"
"Incredible..."
"T-Those Undead and Lord Blank actually did it?!"
"I cannot believe it!"
"But that really is Jester’s corpse. That woman turned it into a bizarre undead!"
"I-Impossible..."
"Wow! We’re saved!"
"So many of us died, but... that bastard is finally gone!!!"
The people displayed mixed reactions. Some still refused to believe it even after seeing the clear evidence. Others celebrated openly, happily screaming and raising their hands. A few simply mourned the many who had not survived long enough to see this day.
"I-I honestly don’t know what to say..." Marble sighed at last. "We never thought the problem would be solved so suddenly, and with the help of my beloved little nephew no less... and who are these people with you? Your new Undead Slaves?"
"They are not slaves," Blank sighed. "I have never been fond of enslaving Undead, and you know that perfectly well."
"Hohoh, I was only joking!" she laughed and reached out to pinch his cheek. "It’s always a pleasure to tease my cute nephew!"
"Grrr... enough already! I have not been a child in hundreds of years!" Blank protested, gently trying to move her hand away.
"Aw, to me you’ll always be my cute little baby boy!" Marble chuckled warmly before pulling him into a tight hug and covering his face with affectionate kisses.
"G-Gaaah! Enough!" Blank blushed deeply and tried to push her away, but his aunt was surprisingly strong. She pulled him back and left his face covered in purple-colored kissing marks from her lipstick.
"Hahaha! I had no idea you were such an auntie’s boy," Sailor laughed openly.
"It’s a surprise. I always thought White Ghosts were quite cold with one another," Mark added.
"Me too..." Elayne said, still surprised, yet she smiled brightly. "I’m glad you’ve got such a nice auntie, Blank! And she’s also so pretty!"
