Chapter 46-The other whiteblood
Chapter 46: 46-The other whiteblood
"Maisa!"
Zolani’s voice broke through the crowd. She called out to her happily, her lips were curled into a hearty smile.
Maisa turned over and was excited to see alive and moving. She had been scared their for a moment when Zolani got hurt but luckily for them, they had Varitreya who was a living, breathing vampire cure.
Zolani waved enthusiastically. "Come with us!"
Maisa hesitated. "Us?"
"The council bus is over here. Come ride with us," Zolani smiled as she invited her over. "There’s plenty of space."
Maisa glanced at Sapphire. Her roommate who had appeared standing beside her, staring at the student council bus as though someone had just offered her a ticket into paradise.
"Are you sure?" She asked, she didn’t want to cause any problems by getting into a bus that wasn’t meant for her.c
Zolani nodded. "Of course, I am sure. Come on over." She looked toward Sapphire. "And bring her too."
Sapphire’s eyes widened. "Me?" She asked on the surface but deep down she was thrilled to be invited to ride in rhe prestigious bus.
"You’re Maisa’s roommate."
"Ye...yes?"
"I think Maisa will be much more comfortable riding with us if you join in."
Sapphire didn’t need another invitation. She grabbed Maisa’s hand immediately. "Let’s go!" She urged her forward.
Such a rare opportunity had fallen in her lap, she couldn’t care about what other students would say about it, she was getting pm that bus and breathing the same air as princess Varitreya.
Maisa stumbled after her. "Sapphire... wait!"
"No!" Her eyes were sparkling. "I’m sitting on the student council bus! You are my ticket in so please don’t refuse. This might be the only chance I get to sit so close to the princess and her merry band. Don’t take that away from me."
Zolani laughed. "You seem excited."
"Excited?" Sapphire practically vibrated. Excited was an understatement to how she truly felt. "I have spent my entire academic career hearing about the fiery four and watching from a distance!" She lowered her voice dramatically. "And now I’m getting to sit in their bus."
Maisa couldn’t help laughing. "You realize they’re just vampires, right?"
Sapphire looked at her as though she’d committed a crime. "They are THE vampires. The only ones that will matter after we finish school and they end up running our government... the future leaders of our nation," she let out with complete awe.
Zolani laughed again and even Lumi smiled at the compliments showered on them and the grand pedestal Sapphire had put them on.
For a moment, everything felt strangely easy. Until the wind changed, t happened suddenly and without warning.
A violent gust swept through the courtyard. Not the ordinary movement of air, this was different as the trees bent and loose papers flew from professors’ hands.
Several students instinctively covered their faces to avoid dust getting into their noses and dirt getting into their eyes.
Then, the sharp endes and silence took over. A figure stood at the center of the courtyard and no one exceot for Varitreya had seen him arrive.
He had moved so quickly that even the academy’s strongest vampires had barely registered his approach.
Slowly, hundreds of heads turned to glance at him. The courtyard became completely still as the students took in his arrival.
Maisa stared, her jaw dropped.
The boy standing there was tall, broad-shouldered, and impossibly composed. His pale white hair fell neatly across his forehead, matching sharply against his white academy uniform.
His features were strikingly symmetrical, his jaw sharp, his eyes an icy shade that seemed almost silver beneath the enchanted lamps and there was something different about him.
He screamed of power, seemed cold at a glance and even without knowing who he was, Maisa felt it a strange need to recoil away from him. She could sense that he was a whiteblood.
The realization made her heart skip, another one. She was completely taken aback by it. His aura was just as dominant as Varitreya’s, only lacking by some inches.
The whispers broke out among the students around. All eyes were focused on him.
"He’s here."
"Kayden!" A blackblood vampire girl said in a dreamy tone.
"Grand Duke Krauss’s son and he looks even better than the last time he was here!" Another student said.
"The Ice Prince," Joam called him by his nickname around the school, he placed his hand over Luan’s shoulder and leaned his head on his friend. "Luan, do you think that he... could ever... with me?" He asked.
Luan shook his head in disbelief. While he was the warm heartthrob of their class, Kayden was the cold ice prince. They both attracted boys and girls fawning over them, and he couldn’t stand Kayden.
The male had more advantages than him. Better background, better blood running in his veins and better standing, but their was one fact Luan refused to admit, that Kayden was better looking than him, he refused that fact.
"Jo, my friend. You are better off crushing on me than him," he said.
Kayden tilted his head, his icy eyes locked on Luan and a small smile curved at the corned of his mouth. Then he lowered his eyes just as fast before they lingered.
"The other whiteblood student. What a rare blessings!" Fenwick fell on Luan’s other shoulder. "I think I am better suited for him. You should forget him, Jo."
"I think you’re delusional, Fenny. He belongs with me."
Luan shook them off, "I think you’re both delusional," he left their side and walked to his sister. He expected she would at least be normal and not weird him out.
Maisa looked toward Zolani. "Who is that?"
Zolani stared at the newcomer and then smiled with admiration glowing in his eyes. "That is Kayden Krauss."
Maisa’s brows lifted. "Another whiteblood?"
Zolani nodded. "The only other whiteblood student in the academy."
Maisa remembered Kriza mentioning him during her orientation. He is the one who stays at the tower with Varitreya. A whole grand tower with massive rooms and spaces built only for two students to share. It was unbelievable.
She had heard gossip about him. He was the grand duke’s son, the heir to the Krauss family. The second-most powerful house in the vampire nation after the royal family and their power equals the blood council.
A boy whose name alone carried enough weight to make entire classrooms go quiet.
"He seems charming," she commented.
"If cold and indifferent to everyone but Varitreya and occasionally fighting with Luan is your definition of charming then....yes, he’s definitely charming," Zolani said.
On the other hand, Kayden looked across the courtyard. His eyes found Varitreya immediately and his expression immediately changed.
The coldness in his eyes disappeared and a playful smile appeared that brightened his face.
"Hey, Blood Heir!"
The entire courtyard seemed to stop breathing, even Professor Primrose paused. Varitreya had been standing beside Addessa near the student council bus.
She slowly turned at the sound of her official title. For perhaps the first time since Maisa had met her, the princess smiled without restraint.
"Hello to you too, Bloodlord Kayden," she greeted him back in a friendly tone, matching his.
The change was astonishing. The weight that normally rested upon Varitreya’s shoulders seemed to disappear.
She didn’t look like the future queen, she looked like a girl seeing an old friend.
Kayden walked toward her. "Still terrifying everyone?"
"Only the people who deserve it," she joked back. "Welcome back. You my dear bloodlord, have been missed," she said, giving him a hug.
