Chapter 426: Dinner With Delaweed
Later that night, at Rooster’s Restaurant.
Several carriages pulled up to the front entrance. They looked nice. Like something a royal would use to travel.
The doors opened. A few men and women stepped out. They were dressed in elegant attire that they wouldn’t usually wear.
At their chest, they had a symbol of Rose Records embroidered in the cloth.
Della, Waylen, Miranda, Rock, Jax, Hank, Adam, Dogger, and Machary looked very different from their usual self.
“Welcome to Rooster’s Restaurant.”
A man in a black suit greeted them. He was in charge of taking care of today’s reservations—and the whole restaurant for this night was reserved only for Snake Hornets and Rose Records.
“We are Rose Records.”
Della said with her red lips pursed. She looked beautiful. She was wearing a long dress that opened up at the thigh, revealing a hint of her smooth leg.
The blond hair that she usually just let fall around her shoulders was pulled back in a sleek ponytail, making her look even more elegant and sophisticated.
It would be hard for any man to not fall in love with her.
“You have arrived in time,” the man bowed, and then opened the door for them. “Make your way inside. The dinner is about to begin.”
They entered. And soon, they saw people inside. Snake Hornets, around ten of them, all wearing green and black dresses.
At the middle of the restaurant, there was just one table. Delaweed was sitting on it alone currently. Other tables were pushed to the sides of the room.
The whole room was decorated with candles and flowers, creating a romantic atmosphere.
“Miss Della.”
Delaweed stood up, and he walked a half-circle around the table and then greeted her with a hand—like he wanted her to put his hand on hers.
Della placed her hand on his. He kissed her hand. Then he looked into her eyes with a smile that could only be described as discomforting.
“You look as beautiful as ever. Let’s get seated, shall we? I am so glad you agreed to have a dinner with me today.”
Delaweed walked back to his seat. Della sat across from them. Everyone else sat further back, just like members of Snake Hornets.
“Wine?”
Delaweed pulled out a bottle of wine from a cooler and opened it with a corkscrew.
“Sure.”
Della nodded, and she watched as he poured the red wine into the cup—filled the cup just halfway so that there was enough room for swirling.
“This is Vineyard Wine. Have you visited the Vineyard? It’s located right here on the 50th floor. A friend of mine owns that.”
Delaweed asked while swirling the wine, and then he took a little sip.
“I’ve seen it.”
Della said and took a sip of the wine and thought it was fine, but she wasn’t much of a wine-enjoyer herself.
“Should we order?”
Delaweed asked and gave her a menu, and then he also took another menu—everybody else in the restaurant was just sitting.
Nobody else was ordering.
Snake Hornets and Rose Records were just staring at each other. Silent tension in the air. It was like just about anything could happen at any moment.
“…This is bullshit. I don’t know what Della is doing participating in this charade.”
Rock said coldly.
“You just need to trust the guild master. I am sure she knows what she is doing. She is trying to avoid a guild war.”
Miranda said.
“…There is no way Delaweed will accept her rejection with a smile on his face. This will end in a guild war.”
Waylen said.
The food soon came from the kitchen. Delaweed and Della started eating. It looked like an ordinary dinner between two friends.
Della was gently cutting down the steak and then putting tiny pieces into her mouth, and she chewed before swallowing.
“Your elegance is mesmerizing. I like that. It’s a refreshing change from all the usual sloppy eaters I have to deal with.”
Delaweed said with a chuckle.
It was intended to come off as a joke, but Della did not laugh, her eyes narrowing in response, and she took another bite.
After seeing that his joke did not land, Delaweed drank a little bit of wine in embarrassment and then asked.
“How’s your guild doing? I heard that Grinding Grief and Monsieur Rascal are making a comeback. They might try doing something again.”
Delaweed said.
“I am not worried about them,” Della said and then looked at him. “I heard Snake Hornets has had some trouble as well.”
“It’s nothing that we can’t handle. I was hoping that our union would strengthen both of us so we could eliminate our enemies together.”
Delaweed said softly.
He started to push forward with his marriage request.
“It sounds to me that it is you, Snake Hornets, that need this union more than we do. You sound desperate, Delaweed.
“You are scared of them, aren’t you? I am not surprised. You did anger him after all. You made an enemy out of the Player Hunter.”
Della said with a serious look in her eyes.
The smile that Delaweed had carried all night dropped instantly, replaced with a look of seriousness and even anger.
“You think I would marry you because you made some shitty poems, gave me flowers that would wither and die in a couple of weeks, and brought me to this restaurant to eat overcooked steak?”
Della asked, and then she brought the cup of wine to her lips and drank it all in one gulp.
It turned really tense in the restaurant.
Snake Hornets were angry about the way she was talking to their boss. Rose Records were ready for anything.
“You do hurt my feelings, Della. I want you to know that I really adore you, and I can make you a happy woman.”
Delaweed said with a frown.
“Trust me, I know what you want. You’ve been ogling at my breasts all dinner.”
Della said coldly.
She had been swallowing the disgust all this time, but she couldn’t keep it any longer.
Delaweed was trying to act like a gentleman. To try to fool Della about what type of man he was. But Della could see right through him.
“Like I said, you are really beautiful. I can’t help my male urges. I want you to reconsider my proposal.”
Delaweed said.
It didn’t sound like he was planning to take no for an answer. He was a really, really pushy person.
“The answer is no. It will always be no.”
Della said.
“Why?”
Delaweed asked coldly.
He had finally dropped his act and was now acting aggressive. As if he was planning to take her by force next.
“I already have a man. I love him. And trust me, he gives me plenty of satisfaction and happiness every night.”
Della crossed her legs and said.
It took everyone by surprise. Everyone thought that she was single. She had never been seen with a man romantically before.
“…Is she lying?”
Miranda asked.
“…Della isn’t a liar.”
Waylen said.
“Who the fuck?”
Rock frowned as well, but then only one face appeared in his mind, and he gritted his teeth so hard that they almost shattered.
“It better not be you, you shitty brat…”
Delaweed blinked blankly. Then a burning jealousy overtook his mind. He half-believed that she must be lying.
“You’re lying!”
“I am not. His name is Fang Raon.”
Della said with a smile.
It was a look of a young woman in love. Like saying his name alone was enough to give her happiness.
And it was a face that none of them had seen her show before.
“Raon… I don’t think he has broken up with Chaewon. So he is dating the two of them? What a guy, wow!”
Machary laughed, but then Rock grabbed him by the throat and said coldly, “Shut your trap, Machary.”
“M-my bad…”
Machary awkwardly said.
Delaweed put his fork and knife down. He wiped his lips with a napkin. Then he finished the red wine in one go.
“War it is then.”
He said coldly, and he stood up, and two green axes appeared in his hands. Their blades were big and very curved.
Snake Hornets all stood up and brandished their weapons. Rose Records did the same.
Della tapped the napkin against her lips, then she stood up, and her magician’s robe fell over her beautiful dress.
A grimoire made of light appeared next to her.
This was a grimoire of level 6 mage. Its strength had gone beyond that of a yellow grimoire that she used to have.
Della was much, much stronger than before.
“Oh god!”
The kitchen workers all left the kitchen and ran out of the backdoor. They didn’t think that they would survive if they were so near to a player battleground.
’50th floor doesn’t have a Safe Zone. It’s a battleground of players to the death.’
Rock thought with a dark look, and then he summoned his grimoire and looked towards Mahabunta first.
He wanted to kill him first.
Ding~! Ding~!
At that moment, the bell went off over at the front door.
“Did I miss something?” A familiar voice made everyone turn their heads over. “It definitely looks like I missed something.”
Fang Raon’s lips curled into a smile.
