Chapter 118: Chapter 118: Dealing With An Annoying Duo (Part 3)
Jiang Huan’s voice cut through the tense atmosphere.
"Don’t think you’re so impressive just because you’ve learned a little alchemy and managed to work under Elder Shan Li. In the end, you’re still nothing more than a useless waste." 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ
The way he emphasized the last few words made it clear that he was deliberately trying to shift everyone’s attention away from Chu Ran and back toward Sui Sui.
Seeing that Jiang Huan had successfully shifted the attention away from her, Chu Ran immediately seized the opportunity to continue and add fuel to the fire for Sui Sui.
"Yes, don’t get so arrogant just because you’ve learned a little alchemy," she said, her voice filled with disdain. "Elder Shan Li is probably only curious about how someone as foolish as you managed to refine anything at all. Don’t delude yourself into thinking that he’ll actually take you as his disciple. If you keep spreading rumors about having his attention, you might even end up damaging his reputation."
Her words were filled with barely concealed hostility.
To Chu Ran, the entire situation was simply unacceptable.
How could someone like Sui Sui, whom she had always considered beneath her, suddenly start practicing the same path of cultivation as her and, even worse, attract Elder Shan Li’s attention?
This was especially infuriating because Elder Shan Li was the very person Chu Ran had wanted as her master.
She had deliberately avoided taking another master until now because, among all the elders in the sect, Shan Li was the one she admired most. He was young, exceptionally talented, and had already reached the Void Refinement Realm. More importantly, his Soul Force possessed a silver color—the highest grade known within their current cultivation system.
In Chu Ran’s eyes, someone of Shan Li’s caliber deserved the best disciple.
And she believed that disciple should be her.
Elder Shan Li also did not have a disciple at the moment. If she could become his disciple, she would not only receive his personal guidance but would also gain access to the resources and knowledge he possessed. To Chu Ran, it was practically the perfect opportunity.
That was one of the main reasons she had attended his lecture in the first place. She had wanted to make a good impression, display her talent, and attract his attention. If she could eventually become the disciple he personally chose to cultivate, she would naturally become one of the most enviable young alchemists in the sect.
Yet somehow, Sui Sui had stolen that opportunity from her.
The very person she had always looked down on had somehow managed to attract Elder Shan Li’s attention before she could.
The thought made Chu Ran’s resentment deepen.
She couldn’t understand what Elder Shan Li saw in Sui Sui.
Sui Sui, of course, had no intention of staying quiet. "And then? Who are you to dictate that? What, Who is worthy in your opinion? you want him to take you as his disciple?"
He tilted his head slightly before adding with a faint smirk, "And so what if I’m a waste? It was this so-called waste who caught Elder Shan Li’s attention last time. It was also this waste who performed better than you did. If you think you’re so much better than me, then go ahead and prove it. If you have the ability, why don’t you try getting Elder Shan Li’s attention yourself?"
Sui Sui can only go with the flow, He didn’t know where this people got the idea he was claiming to be Elder Shan Li’s Disciple, he, for once, has never even told anyone about this matter other than his Senior Brother Ji Ling and Elder Jingyan, and he was sure they also wouldn’t gossip about him, so it was probably just these people wanting to make him lose his reputation.
The moment his words fell, several disciples standing nearby exchanged glances.
They had been present during Elder Shan Li’s previous lecture, and the results were still fresh in their minds. When they compared the two performances, it was obvious that Sui Sui’s results had indeed been considerably better than Chu Ran’s so where did she even had the guts to say those words.
Chu Ran naturally noticed the change in their gazes again, and her expression became increasingly unpleasant again. She immediately tried to find another explanation. "Hah? Who knows? Maybe you cheated somehow. I don’t believe that someone like you could actually produce something good."
"Oh please" Sui Sui rolled his eyes. "Then provide some proof. If you can’t prove that I cheated, then everything you’re saying is nothing more than slander. Why don’t you simply admit that you lost? At least that way, you might still be able to save some face."
"You—you!" Chu Ran’s face flushed red with anger.
She opened her mouth several times, but no response came out. Her chest rose and fell rapidly as she struggled to find something she could say without making herself look even worse.
Jiang Huan noticed the bad situation immediately.
The surrounding disciples were no longer looking at Sui Sui with ridicule. Instead, their attention had shifted toward Chu Ran, and the longer they stayed, the more obvious it became that she was the one being embarrassed and Jiang Huan had no intention of allowing that.
His expression darkened as he stepped forward. "Enough."
His voice cut through the surrounding chatter. He looked directly at Sui Sui, the faint smile that had been on his face completely gone. "How dare you speak to Junior Sister Chu like that?"
Sui Sui raised an eyebrow. Before he could respond, Jiang Huan’s hand moved to the hilt of his sword. His fingers tightened around it, and although he had not drawn the weapon yet, the threatening movement was obvious enough. For a moment, it genuinely looked as though he might attack.
Sui Sui’s eyes narrowed slightly. So this guy was actually planning to use force now?
He glanced at the sword in Jiang Huan’s hand before calmly looking back at him. "What? You want to attack me?"
His tone remained surprisingly relaxed. "This is Medicine Peak, don’t you remember that in medicine peak violence is not allowed?, and I’m still a disciple of the Wenjian Sect. Do you really want to draw your sword against a fellow disciple here?"
Jiang Huan’s eyes narrowed, but Sui Sui continued before he could answer. "And more importantly, Elder Shan Li’s courtyard is right over there." He casually pointed in the direction of the courtyard. "Do you really want to gamble on whether I have a way to call him here?"
Of course in, in truth, Sui Sui really did not have a way, but he can always bluff.
Even as the grandson of the acting sect leader, Jiang Huan still cannot break the rules himself, or he would lose the credibility he has built for himself here, plus it would raise the issue of bias, greatly ruining the image of the Jiang Family. Seeing that their situation wasn’t improving, he had no choice but to retreat for now
His gaze lingered on Sui Sui for a moment before he said, "You’d better watch yourself from now on. Just because Elder Shan Li has shown some interest in you doesn’t mean you can act without consequences, this is Wenjian Sect, watch your words"
Jiang Huan’s words were full of threat
Sui Sui raised an eyebrow but said nothing.
Jiang Huan did not wait for a response. He turned toward Chu Ran and said, "Junior Sister Chu, let’s go."
Chu Ran was clearly unwilling to leave like this. She glanced at Sui Sui, her eyes still filled with resentment, but when she noticed the surrounding disciples watching her, she finally suppressed her anger. She gave Sui Sui one last glare before turning around and following Jiang Huan.
The group continued walking until they had put some distance between themselves and the crowd. Only then did Jiang Huan slow down and glance toward Chu Ran.
"Don’t worry about it, Junior Sister Chu," he said, his tone softening. "There’s no need to let someone like him ruin your mood. This Senior Brother will help you. I’ve already thought of a way to deal with him."
Chu Ran looked at him in surprise "Really? You already have a plan?"
Jiang Huan smiled confidently. "Of course, Who am I? I am Jiang Huan. Give it a few days, and I guarantee he won’t be smiling anymore. Let’s see if he can really keep Elder Shan Li’s approval once I’m done."
Hearing the confidence in his voice, the resentment on Chu Ran’s face gradually faded. She had been worried that they would have to simply endure this humiliation, but Jiang Huan’s certainty reassured her.
Meanwhile, Sui Sui remained completely unaware of their conversation. He simply watched their figures disappear farther down the pathway before turning around and continuing toward Elder Shan Li’s residence.
He had a faint feeling that Jiang Huan was planning something, but if they wanted to come after him, then let them.
He wasn’t afraid.
