Chapter 117: Chapter 117: Dealing With An Annoying Duo (Part 2)
Everyone’s attention immediately shifted toward Sui Sui, waiting to see how he would respond.
Sui Sui raised an eyebrow. He had expected them to mock him, but Jiang Huan’s words were so shameless that he almost laughed "Oh? You’re really one to talk."
Jiang Huan’s smirk deepened. "What? Did I say something wrong? Everyone knows you’re the little pest who follows Senior Brother Yizhou around everywhere. You cling to him wherever he goes, It is already a wonder how he still hasn’t gotten sick of you."
A few disciples nearby exchanged amused glances.
Sui Sui raised an eyebrow, completely unbothered by the accusation. "Oh? So I’m shameless because I follow the person I like around? Then what does that make you?"
As he spoke, a faint smirk appeared on his lips, and his gaze slowly shifted toward Chu Ran. He deliberately looked between the two of them before continuing, "You follow Miss Chu Ran around every day too, don’t you? You pamper her, find every possible excuse to get close to her, and practically jump whenever she needs something. Anyone who isn’t blind can see what’s going on."
The words immediately changed the atmosphere around them. Several disciples who had initially been standing off to the side simply to watch the spectacle now turned their attention toward Chu Ran and Jiang Huan. They exchanged curious glances, and a few even began whispering among themselves.
Now that Sui Sui had pointed it out, the two really did seem unusually close.
Chu Ran’s expression changed when she realized where everyone’s attention had shifted. She clearly had not expected Sui Sui to drag her into the argument, and a faint flush immediately appeared on her face.
"Don’t make baseless accusations!" she said quickly. "Brother Jiang and I are just friends."
"Plus I already have someone I like," Chu Ran added firmly, as though making that point would immediately settle the matter.
She glanced around at the surrounding disciples, clearly becoming uncomfortable with the way they were looking at her. As a young woman from the Chu Family, she naturally did not want rumors spreading about her being romantically involved with another man, especially when she already had someone else she liked, what if senior brother hears of this and thinks badly of her?
What Chu Ran failed to notice was the subtle change in Jiang Huan’s expression.
The moment he heard her say that she already had someone she liked, the smile on his face faded slightly. His expression turned sour for an instant, clearly one of jealousy, but Chu Ran was standing in front of him and didn’t noticed the change.
Sui Sui, however, noticed. He did not give them any time to recover before adding, "Yeah, only a fool would believe he doesn’t like you."
His words immediately made several of the surrounding disciples glance back toward Jiang Huan.
Sui Sui, however, had already turned his attention back to him. The smile on his face became a little more mischievous as he continued, "It’s a pity she doesn’t like you, though. Maybe she’s only keeping you around because of your influence. After all, once you take away your family background, what do you actually have to offer?"
Jiang Huan’s expression immediately darkened.
Sui Sui did not stop.
"You’re not as good-looking as my Senior Brother, you’re not as tall as him, you’re not as kind as him, and you’re definitely not as talented as him. So besides having a powerful family behind you and being exceptionally good at irritating people, what exactly do you have?"
The surrounding disciples fell into a quiet whisper, some looked away, trying not to laugh, clearly not everyone liked Jiang Huan either, probably also sick of his arrogance. Others exchanged glances, clearly enjoying the sudden turn in the argument.
Jiang Huan’s face had become increasingly ugly and Sui Sui noticed it immediately.
Got you.
From the moment he had met Jiang Huan, he had already suspected that the young man’s pride was one of his weaknesses, especially when it came to being compared with Yizhou.
And now that reaction had confirmed it.
If Jiang Huan wanted to use Yizhou to humiliate him, then Sui Sui saw no reason to be polite.
After all, they had been the ones who started this.
Hearing Sui Sui imply that she might only be keeping Jiang Huan around because of his family, Chu Ran’s expression immediately changed. She glared at him, clearly offended "You! How dare you slander me in front of Brother Jiang? I, Chu Ran, have always been completely innocent!"
Sui Sui simply rolled his eyes "Well, if the shoe fits."
Chu Ran’s face flushed with anger. "Don’t think you’re in the clear just because you managed to say a few clever words. Everyone knows you’re probably only using the Bai Family’s reputation to cling to Senior Brother Yizhou. You’re just the same, If you didn’t have the Bai Family backing you, do you think he would even tolerate you? You’re more shameless than anyone here!"
Sui Sui gave her a disdainful look before letting out a soft scoff "Hey, at least he’s willing to let me cling to him right?" He paused deliberately, then looked at Chu Ran with a faint, provocative smile "Unlike you"
The meaning behind his words was obvious.
Both the Bai Family and the Chu Family were among the Ten Great Families of the Human Realm. If Chu Ran truly believed that Sui Sui was only able to stay close to Yizhou because of his family’s influence, then what did that say about her own situation?
Yizhou knew that Chu Ran was from the Chu Family too, yet despite that, he had never shown the same tolerance toward her.
Meanwhile, Sui Sui could openly follow Yizhou around, cling to him, and even bother him from time to time without being driven away.
Wasn’t that proof enough that Yizhou was simply more willing to tolerate Sui Sui?
The surrounding disciples immediately picked up on the implication, several of them exchanged glances, and the atmosphere became noticeably more awkward.
Chu Ran’s expression also turned even more ugly.
Jiang Huan, who had been watching the exchange from the side, quickly noticed that Chu Ran was being pushed into a disadvantageous position. He frowned and decided to intervene before she could lose any more face.
"Shut Up."
