Chapter 105: Chapter 105: Going Outside

With the two of them working together, the planting process went much faster than Sui Sui had expected. MuMu handled the heavier and more troublesome work that is getting rid of the weeds while Sui Sui focused on arranging the seeds, tending the soil, and making sure everything was planted properly.

They worked from morning until evening, then continued again the next day.

After two full days of work, the entire herb field was finally finished.

Sui Sui stood at the edge of the field and looked over the neatly planted rows of herbs, a satisfied smile appearing on his face.

---

Today was the fifteenth of the month, which meant it was time for the sect’s monthly lecture. Attendance wasn’t mandatory, but Sui Sui had heard that a senior cultivator from Medicine Peak would be giving the lecture this time. Since he had recently started learning alchemy, he naturally didn’t want to miss the opportunity.

He woke up early that morning and prepared himself before heading out. And, as he had promised, he also brought MuMu along.

Of course, MuMu had been insisting on this since the moment Sui Sui mentioned going outside.

The moment they arrived in Sui Sui’s small room, MuMu immediately floated around in excitement, his little head turning from side to side as he examined everything around him. His round eyes were filled with curiosity, as though he had just entered some mysterious new world.

"So this is the outside world?" MuMu asked excitedly, looking around the room. He flew toward one corner, then immediately turned and darted toward another. "It looks new but why is it so small?"

Sui Sui couldn’t help laughing. "This is the outside world, but we’re technically not outside yet," he explained. "This is still my room in the sect. Before we actually go out, though, there are a few rules you need to remember."

MuMu immediately stopped flying around and turned toward him, his expression became full of question "Rules?" He bobbed his head repeatedly, his little horns bouncing with every movement. "Okay! MuMu will listen! tell it to me ba"

Sui Sui looked at his eager expression and couldn’t help feeling that bringing this little troublemaker outside might be more troublesome than he had imagined.

"Rule number one," Sui Sui began, holding up a finger. His expression became noticeably more serious. "You need to keep your distance from other people as much as possible. I know you’re used to doing whatever you want inside the dimension, but the outside world is different. Here, strength matters, and there are plenty of people we absolutely cannot afford to offend. So don’t wander over to strangers, don’t pick fights, and don’t cause trouble. It’s better to keep your distance and avoid unnecessary problems. Got it?"

MuMu immediately nodded his little head, looking obedient. "Don’t worry, Sui Sui. MuMu will listen."

He looked so well-behaved that Sui Sui felt slightly reassured.

Of course, MuMu’s thoughts were completely different: If strength is absolute, then MuMu doesn’t need to worry at all, After all, MuMu was very strong.

"Rule number two," Sui Sui continued, raising a second finger. "You are not allowed to wander around on your own. Stay close to me at all times, understand? Don’t go running off because something catches your attention, and don’t disappear somewhere without telling me. If you get lost, you’re on your own. I won’t have time to search the entire sect for you."

MuMu nodded obediently, his little head bobbing up and down. "Okay! MuMu will stay with Sui Sui."

Seeing how cooperative he was being, Sui Sui continued with the final rule "Rule number three... well, this isn’t really a rule, but we need to do something before we leave." Sui Sui paused before explaining, "We need to establish a temporary spirit beast contract first. That way, when we’re outside, you can pretend to be my contracted spirit beast. It will make things much less suspicious."

After all, plenty of disciples in the sect had their own spirit beasts. If Sui Sui suddenly appeared with one, no one would find it particularly strange. He could simply say that he had recently encountered MuMu and formed a contract with him.

There were three types of master-spirit beast contracts in the cultivation world.

The first was the temporary contract. Although it was still considered a contract, it did not create any permanent bond between the two parties. Its main purpose was basic communication and location detection, allowing the master to sense where their spirit beast was and maintain a simple connection with it. It could be severed at any time, and doing so would not cause harm to either party.

The second was the binding contract. This contract was much stronger. It allowed the master and spirit beast to share certain abilities and even transfer or share spiritual power with one another. However, because the connection was deeper, breaking the contract was considerably more difficult. It was not impossible, but doing so usually required considerably more effort.

The third was the life-bound contract. As its name suggested, this contract bound the lives of both parties together. Their life and death would become closely connected, making betrayal extremely difficult, as neither side could easily turn against the other without risking themselves in the process. Once established, it was also extremely difficult to sever.

For now, Sui Sui chose the simplest option—the temporary contract.

He had no intention of taking advantage of MuMu simply because the little beast was willing to follow him. They had only recently begun spending time together, and Sui Sui did not want to impose a permanent bond on him, so he temporary contract was enough for what they needed

Before leaving the room, Sui Sui first explained to MuMu how the temporary spirit beast contract worked.

He had read about these contracts in one of the sect’s cultivation books before. Although he had never personally established one, he had memorized the basic method and knew what needed to be done.

"For a temporary contract, we don’t need blood or anything complicated," Sui Sui explained. "We only need to connect our spiritual energy and allow the contract formation to recognize both of us. Once it’s established, we’ll be able to sense each other’s presence and communicate more easily. I can also use it to keep track of where you are."

MuMu nodded obediently "Okay. MuMu understands."

Sui Sui raised his hand and began circulating his spiritual energy. A faint glow gathered around his palm as his spiritual power slowly spread outward.

"Just release your spiritual energy and follow mine," Sui Sui instructed.

MuMu immediately did as he said. His spiritual energy flowed out smoothly, meeting Sui Sui’s without hesitation.

The moment their spiritual energies connected, the two streams intertwined.

Sui Sui carefully guided the combined energy according to the method he had learned from the book. As their spiritual power circulated together, a faint formation gradually appeared beneath their feet.

Thin lines of light spread across the ground, forming a simple circular pattern. Several ancient-looking runes appeared around its edge, slowly rotating as the spiritual energy flowing between them grew stronger.

Sui Sui remained focused, carefully maintaining the connection while guiding MuMu’s spiritual energy through the formation.

MuMu followed his guidance without difficulty, his eyes fixed curiously on the glowing runes beneath them, as the formation stabilized, the surrounding light gradually brightened, then, a soft wave of spiritual energy swept through the room.

Sui Sui felt the connection settle into place, and at the same time, MuMu’s excited voice suddenly sounded directly in his mind.

"Sui Sui?"

"I’m here."

MuMu’s eyes immediately lit up "I can hear you inside my head!"

Sui Sui smiled. "That should be the work of the contract."

The formation beneath their feet slowly faded, and the remaining light dissolved into their bodies. The spiritual energy settled into a thin, unobtrusive connection between them, without creating any sense of restriction or ownership.

Sui Sui checked the contract one last time and nodded in satisfaction.

It had worked.

MuMu blinked and looked down at himself before turning toward Sui Sui "That’s it?"

"That’s it," Sui Sui replied.

MuMu stared at him for a moment, clearly expecting something much more dramatic.

Sui Sui couldn’t help laughing at his expression "It’s only a temporary contract. What did you expect?"

MuMu thought about it seriously before answering, "MuMu thought there would be a big explosion."

Sui Sui laughed "There won’t be any explosion. Come on, the lecture is about to start."

MuMu immediately perked up again and happily followed him out of the room. "Going outside!"
