Chapter 190: 190: ...IS TO BE SCARED.

Nyx continuously ran a hand through his hair, memories rushing through his head as he shook his head. "I..." he muttered as he opened his eyes.

Staring down at the injuries on his hands had brought back memories. It had happened after he saw the blood, triggering forgotten details of what had happened in the dungeon.

Nyx had forgotten that part after leaving the dungeon unconscious. After waking up, he couldn’t recall the details of everything that had happened because it had been the villain core’s side of the action.

And since the two sides weren’t completely reconciled, it was difficult to sync their memories.

Now, the sight of his injuries had triggered something, causing those forgotten memories to glitch back into place.

"It’s okay..." June reached out and grabbed Nyx’s hand, gently calming him. "It’s okay... I’m here. You don’t have to think about it."

Nyx panted softly while staring down. "You... You can stay away from me if you want. I..."

June sighed. "What are you even talking about...? Why would I want to do that?"

Nyx stared up at him. "I... I killed someone..."

June smiled. "You killed a bad guy. That’s what Espers do... So don’t blame yourself for it."

Nyx stared at him, their eyes locked as June tried to calm him down with a smile. He brought a hand to Nyx’s hair, gently patting him as he said, "So... don’t blame yourself. You didn’t do anything wrong."

Nyx stared at him for a while before finally speaking.

"I think I felt something..." He hesitated. "Something that wasn’t me..."

June paused, staring at him.

The two were quiet for a while. June felt guilty for unleashing the monster inside him. He feared that the innocent Nyx would have a hard time getting used to this side of himself.

If he was this scared about killing someone like Mr. Kevin, then how much more terrified would he have been when the plot eventually turned him into a complete monster, forcing him to bear the fright of it all alone?

Nyx slowly held June’s hand. "And earlier... just now... I felt it again."

June sat there, staring and listening to him. He could feel the unstable energy coming from Nyx. He was scared—really scared of himself.

"What is that...?" Nyx stared at June. "It feels like it’s not me... It feels like it wanted to kill again. The feeling... it felt strange. I..." He shook his head. "What is that strange feeling...?"

June hesitated before forcing a smile. He patted Nyx’s hair gently as he said, "It’s okay... Nothing will happen to you. I’m here... I’ll always be here."

June was scared too. He was scared of what might happen to Nyx because he didn’t have a sure means of saving him yet. He felt bad for him, afraid that he might not be able to help.

But he had to at least be the one to calm him down.

And so, the two of them sat there staring at each other for a while before Nyx finally spoke.

"You..." Nyx stared down. "You should break up with me. What if I lose control and that person comes again? What if I..."

June placed a finger between his lips, stopping him from speaking.

The two stared at each other for a while before June smiled.

"Don’t be silly. I’ll never leave you. Never. Okay?" he said with a gentle smile, patting Nyx’s hair. "So... don’t think about that. Right now, think about me and our first date... Okay?" He smiled at him.

With that, Nyx slowly calmed down. Amidst his chaotic mind, he nodded, gradually bringing himself back under control.

He was happy to have June here and couldn’t imagine what he would have done without him around.

With June here, he believed it wouldn’t be much of an issue.

Hopefully.

The Vice Chancellor was in his office outside the academy, going through some of the academy’s files as he tried to handle the issues that had come with the scandal.

Amidst the endless files on his desk, a knock came at the door. At first, he said nothing, and then came another knock.

This time, however, the door was pushed open as Jason walked into the room.

Jason, one of the Elite 5, made his way into the office, nonchalant with both hands in his pockets. He walked in and took a seat, staring up at Mr. Gregory, the Chancellor, who had finally looked up at him.

"I was knocking. Didn’t you know you should at least make an effort to have the door opened as fast as possible?" Jason demanded.

Mr. Gregory cleared his throat. "I’m rather busy with... I have a lot on my table, so I don’t think I can handle whatever you have to say right now. So please... can you leave and come back some other time?"

Jason scoffed without saying anything for a while. He played with the ring on his finger before a smile formed on his face.

"I don’t care about whatever you’re busy with." He stared up at Mr. Gregory. "I have an emergency, and you have to work towards that as fast as possible."

Mr. Gregory sighed as he stared up at him. He didn’t say anything.

Jason shook his head. "Those annoying brats are getting on my nerves..." He cracked his neck before asking, "They’re going to get the Student of the Year award, right?"

He demanded an answer, but Mr. Gregory said nothing for a while. Jason immediately took his silence as a yes and let out an annoyed smile.

"Those bastards..."

He shook his head. "Ever since they came, they’ve been nothing but trouble..." He sighed. "And to think we cut off students to avoid annoying messes like this."

He sighed again before staring directly at Mr. Gregory.

"I won’t say much on this. All you have to do is make sure I get that award, like I’ve always done."

"I need my three-year streak of winning it. And I won’t let any annoying asshole ruin it. So make sure I get that damn award, no matter what."

His voice was serious, his expression ruthless.
