Chapter 170: 170: MAY I...?

June shook his head. "I’m exhausted. And we’re done eating. We’re going to retire to bed now."

He got to his feet and helped Nyx up. "See you next time, family."

"Huh? Leaving? We have a lot of questions for our son-in-law!" Mrs. En insisted.

"Ask me later. I’ll supply the answers," June snapped as he held onto Nyx and led him upstairs toward his room.

They sat there watching them leave until the two disappeared from sight.

Mrs. En smiled warmly. "I’m so happy..." She turned to Lucas and Grey. "I can’t believe your little siblings found love before you two. How embarrassing."

Mr. En sighed. "At this point, you two should just join a monastery or something."

"Too busy for that," Lucas insisted.

"Me too," Grey agreed.

Mr. and Mrs. En shook their heads as Mrs. En said, "Look at your little brother, being so proactive and even taking him to the bedroom..."

She paused and turned toward the stairs. "Wait, do you think they’re going up there to...?"

Grey raised an eyebrow. "Mum... Give him some peace."

Mr. and Mrs. En nodded with smiles. "Oh, sure. Just asking."

They laughed as they continued their dinner.

---

June led Nyx into his bedroom and helped him sit down on the bed while he stood there, staring down at him.

"You should have stayed back there. Going out there will only get them talking and give them weird ideas. What a hassle." He folded his arms.

Nyx smiled as he stared at him. "I’m okay with it. And... I think your family is nice to be around. They’re fun... And they love you. Their food also tastes delicious."

June hesitated as he watched Nyx smile, understanding the subconscious reason behind his comparison.

June smiled and gently patted Nyx’s hair. "Don’t worry. You can stay at my place for as long as you want, and you can always enjoy the meals. It’s your home now if you want it to be... Okay?" he said, trying to comfort him.

Nyx smiled as he slowly brought his hands up to his hair and took June’s hand, holding it firmly while staring at it.

"Then does that mean...?"

He looked up at June. "We’re official now?"

June blinked, his cheeks flushing and his heart fluttering. "Well... You really don’t have to listen to everything they say..."

He cleared his throat. "They’re always like that. I didn’t really tell them off because they’ll just keep talking anyway, so..." June struggled through as many awkward explanations as he could.

But Nyx simply sat there, holding his hand and staring at him with a smile.

After June finished, Nyx smiled. "Back at the dungeon... You said you had a response. You said something about us being together..."

"..."

June swallowed.

"I’m listening," Nyx said with a smile. "Should I take what you said at dinner as the response...? That you’re officially my boyfriend now?"

June was flushing. He couldn’t believe he had to confront this now. He couldn’t push it back any further.

"Well... That..."

Nyx held his hands gently. "You were pretty open back then when you marked me as your boyfriend. The June I know has always been open and shameless..."

Nyx teased him with a smile. "So why are you suddenly shy and hesitant now, huh? Do you like me that much too?"

June couldn’t believe his heart was about to explode. He couldn’t seem to control it at all. This kid was messing with him in ways he couldn’t explain.

"You..." June tried brushing his hands off so he could step back and get some air. "You should get some rest. Tonight, we have somewhere to be..."

But before he could finish, Nyx held him firmly and pulled him closer. Close enough that June found himself falling onto him as well.

He paused, leaning close to Nyx’s face as their eyes locked and their breath brushed against each other.

June bit his lower lip in pure panic as Nyx smiled.

"I’m not letting you go until I get my response. It’s already due... Remember?"

June recalled the promise of a response, and he guessed it really was due. But words failed him in that moment as his eyes lingered over Nyx’s eyes, his nose, and finally rested on his lips.

June couldn’t believe he was having such thoughts at a time like this, but he couldn’t help reminding himself of how gorgeous this kid was.

Why was it always the villains?!

"You..." June struggled to say, but words couldn’t help in this situation. Especially when Nyx suddenly smiled.

It was a mischievous smile, followed by him wrapping his arms around June’s waist and gripping him firmly enough that June gasped.

Nyx smirked. "You seem to be interested in my lips..."

He tilted his head slightly. "Want to taste?"

June panicked even more as he met his eyes. At that moment, all June could wonder was when Nyx had gotten so vocal, shameless, and flirtatious.

June couldn’t help but blame the villain core awakening in him. Somehow, this shy kid was getting bold.

Tables were turning indeed.

But almost immediately, Nyx closed his eyes. As though he had suddenly felt a rush of pain, he struggled to keep a straight face, his eyes squeezed shut.

"Are you okay?"

June immediately recalled surveying the energy within him. It was unstable—extremely unstable and chaotic.

Nyx slowly opened his eyes. Amid the pain, he forced a mischievous smirk as he stared at June’s lips.

"No. I’m not... I’m not okay at all."

He continued, biting his lower lip. "Right now, what I need is you. I desperately need a taste of those lips..." He swallowed, his breathing growing heavier. "I want a taste of you..."

He stared at June.

June felt his whole body fill with guilty excitement as his eyes met Nyx’s. He understood the situation well enough. The system had already informed him about this earlier.

And at this moment, he guessed the second option wasn’t convenient.

So Nyx leaned closer to June, their lips only a breath apart as he softly muttered,

"May I...?"
