Chapter 157: 157: IT’S LIMITED EDITION.
"I think we should run..." June said as he began stepping backward.
The others stared at him, then looked down at the moving ground. At that moment, it was clear that something was moving beneath the sand.
"You don’t need to say that twice."
Ryan instantly forced his legs through the sand, running for his dear life as the others joined him.
They ran through the thick sand, avoiding the moving ground that threatened to pull them down while wiping their hands across their faces. The atmosphere was extremely hot, and it seemed the ground was even hotter. Sweat rushed through their bodies as they ran, but they had to get to safety.
June stepped one foot into the ground when he suddenly felt something hook him.
"Ouch!"
June fell to the ground, and they all turned to see what was happening.
"June!" Simon called after him.
June was on the floor, struggling to move his foot, but to no avail. Something was holding onto it, and he couldn’t even see what it was.
"Let me go, you clingy-ass sand! I’m expensive!" he snapped, pulling his leg firmly, but the sand suddenly began dragging him down.
"June!" Ryan snapped as Simon rushed to the scene and grabbed him by the hand. He pulled continuously for a while, but to no avail.
Something was holding him down there, and they could tell. The sand was slowly pulling him down like quicksand, and June panicked even more.
"No, I’m too young and handsome to be swallowed by some desert quicksand. This was not on my list of things to do during a grand visit to the Sahara Desert! I didn’t plan to die in the hot sand!"
Ryan rushed to the scene and pulled out the dagger from his side. "Hang in there," he said, bringing the dagger close to June’s legs.
June gasped, almost collapsing at the sight. "What’s that...? Is it that serious? Why do you want to cut off my leg?!"
Ryan held his leg firmly. "Who’s cutting your leg? It’s hooked onto your shoes and a part of your pants, so I’ll cut it off..."
June gasped. He didn’t know which was worse—cutting off his expensive shoes and pants or losing his legs!
"But I recently got these off their website exclusively," he panicked. "They’re limited edition..."
Ryan cast him a glare, raising an eyebrow. "Really? Right now?"
June closed his eyes and looked away. "Do your worst..."
Ryan didn’t hesitate. He cut through his shoes and pulled them off along with some of his pants at the tip. Immediately, he urged Simon to pull harder, and he did.
June flew out of the hole and got back on his feet with the help of Simon and Ryan.
June stared down at his bare feet and the cut-off part of his pants. They both sank into the sand.
"Rest in peace..." He bit his lower lip. "There goes my limited-edition collection..."
"Let’s go."
Ryan pulled June along as they turned to run, but immediately, the sand before them began moving violently.
"The fuck...?"
June turned around, only to see that the sand behind them was also moving. The sand around them began moving and rising like water.
June slowly stood on one foot as he said, "For someone who’s barefoot, it’s not advised to stand for too long... What do we do...?"
Immediately, the rising sand began taking the forms of huge crabs.
Massive brown crabs surrounded them, up to ten in number. They clapped their claws together aggressively, all staring down at June and the rest as they slowly closed in on them, as though they wanted to tear them apart.
June stepped backward with the others as he swallowed.
"I had crabs for dinner last night... Who knew fate would be this cruel to let the crabs have me for dinner tonight too..."
One of the crabs struck, and they instantly parted ways, sliding off into different directions as they rolled across the ground and ran for their lives.
They struggled back to their feet as they ran, the crabs chasing after them.
June and Simon were together, running through the harsh, hot sand while three crabs went after them. The creatures ran after them, snapping their claws harder as they approached.
"The sun isn’t even helping matters..." June ran a hand over his face, trying to reduce the intense heat. "And my leg is already on fire."
Simon turned to him and suddenly came to a stop in front of him, bending down.
"Hop on. I’ll carry you."
June stared at him. "Are you nuts? You’ll drag us down..."
"Just hop on," he insisted.
June turned around. The crabs were catching up, and his feet were already on fire. So, he got onto Simon’s back and let him carry him.
"Are you sure about this...?" June asked as Simon got back to his feet and began moving. "Can you carry me and still move?"
"Why? Did you become a pig or something?"
"..."
June felt his ego get hit as he slapped him over the head. "Hey, I’m on a diet!"
Simon smiled as he continued moving, running with June on his back.
June was rather surprised, given the fact that Simon was actually faster than he thought he would be. But June guessed it was the perk of working out, and he knew Simon was someone who worked out a lot.
"Hold me firmly, or else you’ll fall off," Simon said as he ran. "Now."
June obeyed and wrapped his arms firmly around his neck. "This?"
Simon nodded. "Should do."
He smiled at the feeling of June’s hands around his neck. He couldn’t help but feel his heart flutter as he planted a foot firmly into the ground and took to the air.
June held onto him firmly by the neck as they flew into the air. Simon turned toward the approaching crabs, waving his hands through the atmosphere before erupting the sand with wind.
A sharp tornado erupted through the ground, carrying the sand and sweeping it toward the crabs in a powerful gust.
The crabs paused as the wind blew through and around them with the sand, forcing them to struggle to stand firmly amidst the growing torrent.
