[BL] Debut in Interstellar After Retiring as Grim Reaper
Chapter 330 - 328: Who Is The Instigator?
Chapter 328: Who Is The Instigator?
It’s just as he thought that after that conversation, this will go well, the next conversation broke it completely.
"Ah Yin, is your wish still the same?"
They are still sitting beside each other but they went back to their usual position. Yin turned his head slightly but he didn’t look back at the man. His eyes remain staring at the tiny lights from the countless buildings surrounding this buzzling city. The night is already deep yet humans felt like it wasn’t enough to spend. Instead of resting, they’re still here as if the lights around them are day.
However, aside from that, there’s also some things that are quite alarming to see. It was not just this beautiful nightlife that he’s seeing but the large amounts of dark energies hovering around. It was just like some normal smoke in a human’s eyes but these are the dark energies that amplifies the resentments around the souls. It’s actually very dangerous. With the soul’s unwillingness to their death, the resentment in their body will consume their remaining sanity, turning them into mindless evil spirits.
Furthermore, evil spirits are stronger than not only they can harm ordinary souls but also for humans themselves. Possession is one thing but just like the soul he once allowed to take revenge, she was able to push someone and kill him.
It is very dangerous if not handled well.
Whereas the devils and demons can take advantage of this. Resentment is something that they consumed in order to become stronger so after they noticed this predicament, many realized that something wrong is going on.
No matter what, the dark energy around the human world never reaches this kind of situation. Grim reapers like him have been doing their jobs everyday to erase resentments around the souls to balance the world. So who could be behind the scene?
A lot of thoughts passed on his mind and he lowered his eyes, concealing something in his eyes before he finally turned his head to the devil beside him.
"Ah Yin?" He called the man who didn’t respond immediately.
Yin paused for a second. "Yes," he answered without hesitation. "I want to get it back."
"...." Now it was his turn to stay silent.
Silence envelops the two as they look back at the buzzling city again. The atmosphere is calm yet only themselves know that there’s a storm brewing between them. They didn’t let the other notice their thoughts and unbeknownst to them, there was an indescribable barrier that’s starting to form between them. It still looked thin and fragile but with the increasing unspoken thoughts between them, it slowly grew thick and heavier.
"Will you help me?"
It was he who broke the silence. "If I fulfill your wish, will you help me and fight with them?" He was referring to the devils and demons lurking around. He also realizes how ironic his question is. How can he ask the devil itself to fight against his own kind?
But Si remembered what he said to Yin. He trusts him. He trusts that even if he went back to his identity and power, he would change.
Can he? Can he really trust a devil?
His eyes stared at the dark energies around the city.
Many of his colleagues began investigating the perpetrators for these incidents. Not only because it’s their responsibility but because most grim reapers have connection to the human world— treating this place as also part of their own, they are more concerned and hope to end this.
And of course, the main suspects they immediately thought were the devils. They are the only capable beings to start creating havoc again. It’s them who can lead to destroy the balance in this world.
The main question is, who is the real instigator to start this mess? For the past years, the situation has been stabilized and even though there’s still some troubles everywhere, it’s still controllable unlike what’s happening right now.
Who is it?
A memory flashed inside his mind that he just instinctively refuses to think about. He sighed lightly.
A flash of complexity crosses his eyes before he smiles lightly and covers his thoughts. "I’m sorry for asking that question—"
"Then will you continue giving your merits?"
"???" Yin’s back question surprised him. "What do you mean?"
"If this situation went well, that means you’re still going to continue this?"
"Of course," he answered without hesitation. "This is my responsibility as a grim reaper."
"Giving merit isn’t."
He sighed. He felt like discussing this topic with Yin will never go well. He could tell that the man didn’t agree with his deeds.
"In the first place weren’t you just doing this because of me?"
He was stunned by the words he heard. Yin reached out and held his wrist so he turned his head and saw him looking at him directly.
"Weren’t you just doing it to solidify your foundation so you could accumulate merits faster to help me? If after this you will have the chance to grant my wish, can you stop?"
"...." That’s right. From the start, his mindset was to do his best for Yin. He wanted to gather merits faster because he promised the latter that he will fulfill his wish.
It’s just that in the middle of doing this, he realizes many things. The tiny amount of joy that his heart felt when he helped souls is something that he couldn’t just describe even until now.
There’s this tingling sensation that makes him feel better.
He wanted to continue feeling that way. He wanted the souls he guided would be like that old woman and Baobao who left with a smile on their faces because of the good future that they’ll face.
Helping souls made him understand the preciousness of the responsibility as a grim reaper, he doesn’t want to stop. Even after he was deceived countless times, he just believes that there will always be good people like them.
His silence was an answer to Yin’s question so the atmosphere between them went delicate again. There were no longer words after that, both were just sitting next to each other but the minds weren’t.
