Kim Sora started the new day by cleaning the shop.

She wiped the counter clean, rearranged the items on the shelves, and hung the "Open" sign out front. After that, Sora went down to the kitchen to prepare breakfast as usual.

Everything went so peacefully that she almost didn’t notice anything different about today... until she opened Kei’s door.

"Kei, are you awake? I brought breakfast up here..."

Sora’s voice stopped mid-sentence.

Kei was sitting at his desk, both hands clutching his head. The potion-making guidebook lay open in front of him, beside it a Blood Leaf crushed into a dark red mixture in a glass jar.

He was staring at the lines of text in the book as if they were the most terrifying curse in the world.

"What’s wrong, Kei?"

Sora set the food tray down on the table and looked at him worriedly.

Kei slowly raised his head.

"Sora. What is a solvent?"

"..."

"What about pH?"

"..."

"Can chemical reactions be solved with magic?"

Sora looked at Kei fussing for a long while. Then, she slowly understood the problem.

"Kei... you don’t know chemistry?"

Kei went silent.

That question was like a sword straight through his pride.

"In my world, there is no chemistry."

Kei tried to explain.

"We use magic to handle everything. If we need to extract the essence of herbs, we just use extraction magic. If we need to heat something, we use fire magic. If we need to cool something, we use ice magic. No one has to care about things like boiling points or ion concentrations."

Sora blinked and understood.

"So... you don’t know physics, chemistry, biology, or natural science either?"

Kei lowered his head.

"Sounds like you’re scolding me."

"I’m not scolding you or anything."

Sora leaned her hands on the table, her face gradually turning serious.

"I just realized that Kei is a seriously uneducated person. Even a ten-year-old child here wouldn’t understand these questions!"

"..."

Kei felt a sharp pain in his chest.

He was an SSS-rank mage.

He had researched thousands of types of magic, read countless ancient books, crafted items that astonished the entire kingdom.

Yet in this world, just because he didn’t know chemistry, a young girl had concluded he was uneducated.

"Impossible..."

Kei muttered with an ashen face.

Sora looked at his despairing expression, feeling both sympathy and amusement.

"It’s fine. If you don’t know, you learn."

Kei gritted his teeth.

"But I’ve lived for a very long time, I can’t possibly go to school with children again!"

"The longer you live, the more you should know."

Kei: "..."

Kim Sora burst out laughing.

"I’ll enroll you in a supplementary course."

Kei immediately raised his head and shouted:

"No need. I can study on my own with books, just buy me some basic books..."

Sora firmly shook her head, she opened her phone and started searching for places in Dong-San city that could help Kei with his literacy.

"No way."

"I can use magic to analyze."

Kei said weakly.

"I’m an SSS-rank mage, I’ll figure them out myself!"

"But you don’t know so much basic knowledge that you’ll definitely get stuck somewhere again later. So not just chemistry..."

Sora smiled, a smile so gentle it made Kei feel uneasy.

"Learn everything a Korean high school student needs to know!"

And Kei’s fate was decided.

By noon, Kim Sora had finished enrolling Kei in an intensive supplementary course.

The course included basic mathematics, physics, chemistry, and natural science. Classes would start the next day, lasting several hours each day.

Kei tried to protest one more time. But Sora had already handed him the registration form, the class schedule, and even a new backpack.

There was no way out anymore, Kei-nim.

"You just need to relearn the basics." Sora patted his shoulder lightly. "After that, you can research potions however you want, they’re necessary!"

Kei looked at the backpack in his hands.

A legendary SSS-rank mage who had once defeated the demon king. Now he had to carry a backpack to supplementary school.

Life truly is unpredictable. The next day.

Kei stood in front of the building used as a supplementary education center, his expression calm but feeling a little nervous inside.

He walked into the classroom.

Inside, there were quite a few older people. Some were already over thirty, and there were even a few whose hair had turned gray. All of them wore serious expressions, as if they were preparing to begin a difficult battle.

Seeing this, Kei felt a little more at ease. At least he was not the only one starting over from zero.

He found a seat near the window and sat down.

Not long after, someone pulled up a chair and sat next to him.

Kei turned his head to look.

It was a beautiful young girl.

Her golden hair sparkled under the sunlight, each strand seeming to be coated in a layer of gentle light. Her eyes were also golden, transparent like crystal.

Her whole body radiated a strange holy allure.

Kei felt a little uncomfortable and slightly shifted to the side. The girl immediately shifted along with him.

Kei moved back, and the girl followed again.

In the end, Kei’s back was almost touching the wall.

The girl tilted her head and giggled.

"Are you also here to study basic knowledge in supplementary classes?"

Kei looked at her for a moment, then nodded awkwardly.

"Yeah."

"What a coincidence."

The girl rested her chin on her hand and stared at him intently.

"Me too."

Kei was slightly stunned.

A person with an aura like an angel, and yet also had to come to supplementary classes for basic knowledge?

Perhaps sensing his doubtful gaze, the girl burst out laughing.

"Don’t look at me like that. Not everyone who looks smart actually knows a lot, and being beautiful does not mean being smart."

Kei shook his head repeatedly:

"I did not think that."

Thinking that about a stranger was really rude, and Kei felt that doing so was truly not right.

The girl smiled and held out her hand in front of him.

"I am Kang Narim."

Kei looked at that fair hand, then slowly reached out to shake it.

"Kim Kei."

The moment the two hands touched, a strange feeling brushed over Kei. It was not magic, nor was it a hunter’s energy, but a very faint vibration that almost disappeared immediately.

Kei frowned slightly.

Kang Narim still smiled sweetly, her transparent golden eyes looking at him without blinking.

"Kim Kei..."

She repeated his name slowly, as if trying to remember each syllable.

"Oppa... Let’s study together from now on, okay?"
