Bear School Astartes

Chapter 1446 - 1410: Attack!

The Workshop District at the base of the Gos Velen City’s walls was indeed already ablaze.

Fortunately, it was already late at night, and there weren’t too many people inside the workshops. Most had already gone home to rest.

So when Ged rushed over in a hurry, the first thing he felt relieved about was that there were no casualties.

Belengar, clad in the high-grade armor of the Wolf School, had already organized everyone remaining in the workshops to evacuate.

The spontaneously igniting workshops had become a continuous sea of flames.

The fire was inexplicable and extremely abnormal because the production of Valerian Steel inherently involves high-temperature operations, and the buildings’ fire resistance is excellent.

Yet tonight, this place that technically should withstand even direct flame suddenly caught fire extensively.

Thick smoke rose violently, mingling with the night, making the smoke’s path indistinct while only the choking smell was perceptible.

Gray ash fluttered unpredictably in the hot air, and the flames painfully scorched the skin.

When Ged arrived from the other end of the Workshop District, he saw a group of night-shift dwarf artisans gathered together, each like a startled bird, clutching their forging hammers or chisels used for shaping heated metal tightly.

As if in this unclear situation during the deep night, they held onto whatever semblance of safety they had.

In the crowd of dwarf artisans, there were two dwarves, a half-elf, and two elves mixed in.

On the other side, the human artisans behaved much like their counterparts, and the two groups watched each other tensely in the flickering shadows of the flames, seemingly trusting no one.

If it weren’t for the presence of two fully armed Demon Hunters, they might have started fighting amongst themselves.

Ged’s hair, originally tied in a ponytail, had loosened quite a bit due to the intense activity, and Belengar’s ape-like long face was smeared with black marks from the ashes.

When the two Demon Hunters met, both slightly relaxed, exchanging glances, they instantly understood one another—this fire was not normal, and neither was this night.

Without saying a word, the Demon Hunters immediately set about evacuating the group of artisans out of the Workshop District.

However, the evacuation did not go smoothly.

Originally, Ged led the way while Belengar acted as the boundary between the non-human race artisans and human artisans, with everyone urgently moving out together.

But halfway through their path, a human suddenly lunged at Belengar.

The Old Demon Hunter was already tense, holding his Steel Sword drawn in his hand, nearly slashing it upon being startled!

But when the person lunged at him, he suddenly realized...

"Take cover!"

Belengar supported the person’s body, feeling the touch on his leather gloves sticky and slippery—the blood seeping out from the person’s body!

He suddenly roared!

"Someone’s shooting dark arrows! Take cover!"

The burning smell had dulled the Demon Hunters’ senses of smell, and the swelling sound of heated air and burning combustibles were far louder than the subtle noise of arrows piercing through the air.

Thus, Ged and Belengar did not immediately detect the arrow not directly aimed at them.

"Take cover!" Ged coordinated by shouting,

and with a ’bang,’ an invisible shockwave burst from his hand, temporarily extinguishing a small cluster of burning buildings beside the road, allowing people to take refuge.

However, it was ineffective, not because of Ged’s delayed action or inadequate impromptu decision.

But because...

"Damn it! I knew it was the Squirrel Faction! They want to kill us all!"

"These humans are insane! Run quickly, or fight back!"

Starting with a person knocked down by an arrow, the trust that the Demon Hunters had barely maintained collapsed instantly.

Already tense due to the precarious situation and the atmosphere of racial discrimination, the humans and non-human races encountered an abnormal fire tonight and evidently man-made arrow attacks!

In a split second, the crowd broke down!

Shouts and sounds of hammers striking bodies, the noise of bloodletting became chaotic!

In the deep shadows illuminated by the flames, twisted humans and non-human races battled, like spiraling shadows of demons!

"Calm down! Calm down!"

Tall and robust Ged, donned in thick, sturdy Bear School advanced armor, shouted loudly. Even if the artisans’ hammers truly struck him, he wouldn’t flinch.

"Damn it! Calm down!"

But ultimately, seeing the people attacking each other, the damage almost becoming greater than that caused by the attack, Ged’s just-shaved face, already sprouting stubble, furiously erupted!

With a Valyrian Steel Armor Plate fitted glove, he clenched a fist, delivering a dull thud like a sledgehammer on the soft belly of the craftsman with red eyes and a ferocious demeanor!

He knocked the person, bowing like a boiled shrimp, to the ground.

Dwarfs, elves, humans, half-elves, he punched them all indiscriminately! Whoever was so tense that they’d lost their minds and initiated aggression, he made them come to their senses.

Belengar’s strategy was the same, except this old guy from the Wolf School, when he swung his fist, it didn’t carry the smooth and fluid force of a bear cub.

He could only use more technical knockouts.

Yet, even though he had distanced himself from the battlefield for a long time, his skills were still far superior to those of the artisan outsiders.

Moreover, the artisans had been working in the workshops, so overheated that they barely wore an extra shirt, completely incomparable to the protective power of the fully armed Demon Hunters.
