Chapter 746 - 776: Can’t Let This Affect the Sisterly Relationship

When Qin Jiao got to the clothing company, she still felt uneasy and decided to give Xiao Lan a call.

’I wonder if that girl went back to Gao Yuan’s hometown with him.’

When she called Qin Xiaolan’s workplace, a colleague told her that Xiao Lan was off today and had gone out shopping.

Qin Jiao breathed a sigh of relief when she heard Xiao Lan had gone shopping instead of to Gao Yuan’s hometown.

Things had been very busy at the clothing company recently. With the end of the year approaching, they were scheduled to participate in a year-end clothing festival on the twenty-third day of the twelfth lunar month, known as the Little New Year.

The festival was set to include a runway show, so Jiuyi Company had received an invitation. The event was expected to be massive, bringing together partners from renowned clothing companies both at home and abroad.

Jiuyi Company had to get all sorts of preparations done in advance.

It was likely that many people would have to pull all-nighters and work overtime this year.

Of course, despite the hectic schedule, the pros of this event far outweighed the cons.

If they performed well at the festival, they could sign a lot of orders on the spot—including international ones.

Even Du Liya, who was abroad, had heard about it. She made a point to call Qin Jiao and mention that some of her friends would be attending and would be sure to look out for Jiuyi Company.

This was a golden opportunity. For years, Jiuyi Company had focused on domestic growth, and they had certainly secured a stable foothold in the local market.

This was the perfect chance to break into the international market.

If they succeeded this time, the company could expand its operations.

Brick-and-mortar businesses still had another decade or so of growth ahead of them before they would start feeling the impact of e-commerce after 2010.

If they managed their growth well over the next decade, Qin Jiao and her team would have cemented their place in the market for good.

Qin Jiao spent most of the day at the office. It wasn’t until Shen Yi arrived to pick her up that she realized it was already time for dinner.

"How come you’re so tired?"

Qin Jiao told him about the clothing festival.

Shen Yi nodded. "It’s definitely a great opportunity, but don’t wear yourself out. It hurts me to see you like this."

"Mm, I know."

Actually, Shen Yi was also very busy. The electronics industry moved at a breakneck pace, and because he had focused on this market early on, he had single-handedly accelerated its development by several years compared to his previous life.

Under his influence, others had also begun to specialize in this sector.

Fortunately, Shen Yi had now established a branch in North City. So, while he was still busy most of the time, he no longer had to leave the city.

Since Qin Jiao was busy today, she’d had her mother pick up Xiao You. Su Yun simply told them that she and Shen Yi should come over for dinner after they got off work.

’That was the great thing about living so close to her parents’ house—it was incredibly convenient to scrounge a free meal.’

When Qin Jiao arrived at her mother’s house, she found her cousin Xiao Lan—the very person she’d been trying to find earlier—was there too.

"Xiao Lan, you’ve been here all day? I was looking for you earlier. I called your office, and your colleague said you’d gone out shopping."

"Sis, there’s something I need to tell you." Qin Xiaolan turned to Shen Yi with an apologetic look. "Brother-in-law, I’m borrowing her for a bit. Sorry!"

As he watched Qin Xiaolan pull Qin Jiao into Xiao Shi’s room, Shen Yi could only shrug. He turned and went to the living room to play with the kids.

Once again, it was the three sisters in Xiao Shi’s room.

Qin Xiaolan explained what had happened earlier that day.

Qin Jiao breathed another sigh of relief, seeing that Xiao Lan wasn’t angry that she’d had Gu Xu investigate Gao Yuan.

’After all, sometimes even the best of intentions can be misinterpreted by someone who’s in love.’

’If it had damaged their bond as sisters, it just wouldn’t have been worth it.’

Thankfully, Xiao Lan was level-headed and trusted her older sister.

Qin Jiao said, "So you’re saying you want to go see Gao Yuan’s parents? That nursing home is very close to his hometown, isn’t it?"
