Chapter 745 - 775: The File Has Been Altered

Meanwhile, back at the diner, Sun Lili was now more than capable of handling things on her own. Qin Jiao didn’t need to get involved unless a major problem arose.

The clothing company, on the other hand, actually required Qin Jiao to spend more time there, as they were now facing direct competition from Jinyi Company.

Qin Jiao was just about to leave the diner when she saw Sun Lili hurrying inside.

Sun Lili said, "What’s this, Boss? You just got here and you’re already leaving?"

Qin Jiao smiled. "It’s your fault for being so reliable. That’s why I don’t have to come by so often."

"But I miss you! Come on, let’s chat for a bit before you go."

Sun Lili had a waiter bring in a pot of tea. Then she grabbed Qin Jiao’s arm and said, "Remember how you asked my boyfriend to keep an eye on that Gao Yuan? Well, my boyfriend says he recently discovered something very strange."

"’Boyfriend,’ huh? So it’s official now?"

Hearing Qin Jiao’s teasing, Sun Lili said, exasperated, "That’s not important. What’s important is that this Gao Yuan guy is really strange."

"My boyfriend says that he gets on good terms with people very quickly. No matter who you ask, they have nothing but praise for him."

"But whenever anyone brings up his family, he always changes the subject."

"Oh, right. He’s been telling his colleagues that his girlfriend is a schoolteacher now. He must be referring to your cousin."

Qin Jiao already knew all of this; she had interacted with Gao Yuan herself.

’How to put it... He’s an unfathomable person, very calculating and extremely intelligent.’

’He has high EQ and IQ.’

Just then, the tea arrived. Qin Jiao took a sip and asked, "So what was the strange thing your boyfriend discovered?"

"Gao Yuan’s personnel file has been modified."

If her boyfriend didn’t hold a high position with significant authority at their workplace, he never would have been able to access Gao Yuan’s file.

He only investigated Gao Yuan so thoroughly because he wanted to get on Sun Lili’s good side.

"What was changed?"

"Gao Yuan has been to prison before."

Qin Jiao froze. Even Gu Xu hadn’t uncovered that.

’Then again, Gu Xu only had people look into the matter of Gao Yuan’s ex-wife. Does this mean he went to prison *before* the incident with her?’

Qin Jiao quickly asked, "When did he go to prison, and what was the charge?"

"When he was eighteen. The charge was... poisoning. The victims were his own parents. But no one died, and since his parents spoke up for him, he only served one year in prison before he was released."

After he got out, he took the college entrance exam and became a teacher. Later, thanks to his outstanding performance, he was recently transferred to a post in the education department.

After she finished speaking, Sun Lili said worriedly, "Xiao Jiao, I just feel like this guy is way too complicated. He’s not right for your cousin."

They had known each other for many years, so of course Sun Lili knew that Qin Jiao’s cousin, Qin Xiaolan, was a very smart and beautiful young woman.

She had just graduated from college and was working as a teacher.

Qin Jiao said, "Yeah, I understand. Thanks, Lili. I’ll have to treat you two to dinner sometime soon."

Sun Lili immediately got flustered. "What do you mean ’you two’? We’re just trying things out. If it doesn’t work, I’ll have to find someone new."

Qin Jiao didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, but her heart sank again after Sun Lili left.

’There was still no evidence connecting Gao Yuan to his ex-wife’s disappearance.’

’But this incident from his file was undeniable proof that there was something wrong with his character.’

’He poisoned his parents, and they turned around and pleaded for leniency. Even if there was more to the story, the man himself was terrifying.’

’Because at the time, he was only eighteen years old.’
