Chapter 40: Second Floor III

The receptionist was a woman from the beastkin race.

She had a mostly human appearance, but her skin was covered with small spots, and several thin tentacles extended from her back. Her hands also had a slightly unusual, smooth appearance, and her skin looked moist.

Ryan glanced at her for a moment before shrugging.

It’s not like I’m going to sleep with her.

He quickly pushed the thought aside and approached the counter.

"Excuse me. I’d like some information about the second floor."

The beastkin woman looked at him.

"What kind of information do you need?"

"Nearby dungeons, hunting areas, important locations, and anything else that might be useful for a Climber."

Ryan paused for a moment before continuing.

"And I’d also like information about the Second Floor Guardian Challenge."

The woman nodded.

"That’s quite a lot of information."

"I’m willing to pay for it."

"There is no need. Basic information is free. If you want detailed records, there will be a fee."

"Basic information is enough for now."

The woman nodded and began explaining the information available on the second floor.

Ryan listened carefully.

She explained the locations of several nearby dungeons, the recommended hunting areas, the locations of monster settlements, and the dangerous regions that Climbers were advised to avoid.

She also explained how the second floor was divided into several large regions, each containing different types of monsters and resources.

Ryan memorized everything he could.

After listening for a while, he finally asked about the most important thing.

"What about the Second Floor Guardian?"

The woman looked at him before answering.

"The Second Floor Guardian Challenge is located outside the city."

"How far?"

"About three hours from here if you’re traveling at an ordinary speed."

Ryan nodded.

"Is there anything special about the challenge?"

"Yes. The difficulty is much higher than the First Floor Guardian Challenge."

"I expected that."

"The guardian’s level is higher, and the challenge has several different difficulty settings. However, you should know that only Climbers who meet the requirements can enter."

Ryan nodded again.

"Can anyone enter the challenge?"

"No. You need to meet the Tower’s requirements first. Once you qualify, the entrance will become available to you."

Ryan thought for a moment.

That was useful information.

He reached into his storage space and took out a small crystal.

It was a Memory Transmission Crystal.

The crystal was designed to transfer a large amount of information directly into another person’s mind, allowing memories and information to be transferred much faster than simply explaining everything.

Ryan placed the crystal on the table.

"Can you transfer all the information you just mentioned into this?"

The woman’s eyes widened slightly when she saw the crystal.

"That’s a Memory Transmission Crystal."

"Yes."

"Do you want the information about the second floor and the Guardian Challenge?"

"Everything you are allowed to provide."

The woman nodded.

"That can be arranged."

She reached for the crystal.

Ryan quietly watched her.

With the information stored inside the crystal, he would not need to waste time remembering every small detail.

Once he finished gathering the information he needed, he could finally start exploring the second floor properly.

The woman picked up the crystal and examined it for a moment.

She then placed it against her forehead.

A faint light appeared inside the crystal.

The woman closed her eyes as she began transferring the information into the Memory Transmission Crystal.

Ryan quietly watched her.

The crystal continued to glow as large amounts of information were transferred into it.

This is actually pretty useful.

Ryan had obtained the Memory Transmission Crystal from a boss drop some time ago.

At the time, he had no immediate use for it, but he remembered thinking that something like this could be useful later.

He had kept it in his storage ever since.

Now it was finally being used for its intended purpose.

After a few minutes, the light inside the crystal slowly disappeared.

The woman opened her eyes and handed the crystal back to Ryan.

"The information has been transferred."

Ryan took the crystal and stored it away.

"Thank you."

"You’re welcome."

Ryan nodded and turned away from the counter.

He went to the side of the hall and sat down at a table before beginning to review the information he had received.

The Memory Transmission Crystal contained a large amount of information. It took Ryan some time to go through everything.

He soon learned about all the major dungeons on the second floor, as well as information about the Guardian that stood between the second and third floors.

The Guardian was called the Knight of Devastation.

It was another powerful physical-type Guardian, similar to the Fallen Holy Knight he had fought on the first floor.

Ryan continued reading through the information before moving on to the dungeons.

One dungeon immediately caught his attention.

It was called Serendipity Spring of Elves.

According to the information, the dungeon was formed around the remains of a fallen Tree of Life.

The Tree of Life had once been connected to the elves, but after it fell, the area around it became corrupted.

The blood of fallen elves had soaked into the land, turning the dungeon into a dangerous place filled with bloodthirsty creatures.

These creatures were extremely aggressive and would attack almost anyone who entered their territory.

Ryan continued reading the information about the dungeon.

The more Ryan read about the dungeon, the more interested he became.

The main reason was the monsters living inside it.

One of the most common monsters found in the dungeon was called a Witch Doctor.

Witch Doctors were fallen elves who had developed a strong understanding of alchemy and potion-making. They could create many different kinds of potions using the materials found inside the dungeon.

However, the most important part was the dungeon’s boss.

The boss was known as the Serendipity Witch Doctor.

According to the information, it was a fallen elf who had once been an extremely talented potion master.

Ryan’s eyes lit up slightly when he read that.

If I kill this boss and use Perfect Loot, I might be able to obtain all of its knowledge about potion-making.

That was much more valuable to Ryan than the boss’s ordinary drops.

The information also mentioned that the Serendipity Witch Doctor could create many different potions, including several Ancient-grade potions.
