Chapter 39: Second Floor II

Ryan looked around at the people surrounding him.

He clicked his tongue in annoyance.

"Getting into a guild is basically signing a slave contract."

He had no interest in becoming tied to any guild. He had seen enough stories in his previous life to know how troublesome guilds could be.

Fortunately, he had already prepared for this.

Before coming to the second floor, Ryan had put on a mask to hide his face.

The moment he decided to leave, he activated one of his skills.

His figure suddenly vanished.

"What?"

"He disappeared!"

"Find him!"

The recruiters immediately looked around.

Ryan was already moving through the hall at high speed.

He did not stay in one place for more than a few seconds. He used his movement skills to quickly increase the distance between himself and the recruiters.

However, the people on the second floor were much stronger than those on the first floor.

Several of them immediately sensed his movement.

"He’s over there!"

"Don’t let him escape!"

"He must be trying to avoid joining a guild. Catch him before he gets away!"

The recruiters began chasing after him.

Ryan frowned when he noticed several powerful Awakeners following him.

He had already expected this.

The second floor was filled with people who had managed to clear the First Floor Guardian Challenge. Even the ordinary Awakeners here were considerably stronger than most people he had encountered on the first floor.

Some of the recruiters chasing him were also elites from powerful guilds.

They clearly had no intention of giving up.

"He’s fast!"

"Use your movement skills!"

"Cut him off from the front!"

Several people immediately spread out and tried to surround him.

Ryan quickly changed direction.

He used Death Step, turning his body into Death Energy for a brief moment and instantly moving dozens of meters away.

The people chasing him were shocked.

"Another movement skill?"

"How many skills does this guy have?"

"Don’t lose him!"

Ryan continued running.

He used Blood Step to increase his movement speed, then combined it with his other movement abilities.

Whenever someone managed to catch up, he used Death Step to create more distance.

When someone tried to block his path, he changed direction before they could surround him.

Ryan had many different skills, and he had no problem combining them while moving.

After several minutes, the distance between him and the recruiters gradually increased.

"He’s getting away!"

"How can he move that fast?"

"Forget it. We won’t catch him like this."

The recruiters eventually stopped chasing him.

Ryan continued running for another few minutes before finally slowing down.

He looked back and confirmed that nobody was following him.

"Finally."

He adjusted his mask and looked around.

He had already left the main city area.

The surroundings were much quieter, with only a few Awakeners passing through the area.

Ryan sighed in relief.

"I knew joining a guild would be troublesome."

He had no intention of revealing his identity yet.

The first thing he needed to do was understand the second floor and find out where the Second Floor Guardian Challenge was located.

Once he cleared it, he could simply move on to the third floor.

Ryan looked toward the distant city.

"Let’s see what this floor has to offer first."

He then continued walking.

After covering some distance, he stopped and removed his mask. He also changed his clothes before getting any closer to the city.

Once he was satisfied with his new appearance, he put away his mask and joined the line of people waiting to enter the city.

The line was fairly long, with Climbers from different planets waiting for their turn.

Ryan quietly stood among them and observed his surroundings.

Unlike the teleportation hall, nobody was paying much attention to him now.

That was exactly what he wanted.

After waiting for a while, the line slowly moved forward.

When it was finally his turn, the guard at the entrance looked at him.

"Name and identification."

Ryan calmly showed his Identity.

The guard checked the information before nodding.

"You’re cleared. You can enter."

Ryan walked through the gate and entered the city.

The moment he stepped inside, he noticed how different the second-floor city was from the one on the first floor.

Compared to the first floor, where he had barely seen anyone from other races, the second floor was completely different. He could easily see many different races mingling together.

"Elves, dwarves, beastkin, and even undead..."

Ryan looked around in amazement. Some races were easy to identify, while others were much harder to recognize.

"I can easily see more than a hundred different races here."

He blinked as he looked around at the countless faces moving through the streets.

"No wonder they say the Tower is connected to almost every world. Every day, new worlds are discovered, and new people enter the Tower."

Ryan slowly walked through the marketplace, looking at the different races and the various goods being sold around him.

There were shops selling weapons, armor, potions, magic materials, monster cores, and many other items.

The second floor was clearly much larger and more prosperous than the first floor.

Ryan continued walking through the marketplace while observing everything around him.

He had no idea how many different worlds were connected to the Origin Tower, but after seeing this place, he finally understood why the Tower was considered endless.

After walking around for a while, Ryan decided it was time to gather some information.

He had learned quite a bit just by observing the city, but he still knew very little about the second floor itself.

There was only one place he could think of that would have the information he needed.

The Tower Association.

Ryan had seen the large building earlier while walking through the city. It was one of the most noticeable buildings in the area, and many Climbers were constantly entering and leaving it.

He changed his direction and walked toward it.

The Tower Association was located near the center of the city.

When Ryan entered the building, he immediately noticed several counters arranged across the large hall.

There were many people waiting in line, while others were speaking with the staff about different matters.

Ryan walked toward the information section.

Fortunately, there was only one receptionist available there, so he did not have to wait long.
