Aspiring to the Immortal Path

Chapter 1202: Scarlet Terra (2)

Standing atop the tower of the demon fortress, the Scarlet Terra Ancestor looked around. Other than his own army, he couldn’t see any demons.

This strange situation left the Scarlet Terra Ancestor very confused. A devil chief suggested, “Perhaps they’ve already defeated the humans and gone off to attack that land of prosperity?”

The devil chiefs couldn’t help but be excited by the prospect of humanity’s riches.

All of them had long yearned for the prosperity of the human world. Because of the Scarlet Terra Ancestor’s cultivation, they hadn’t been able to participate in the invasion, but thanks to Libido, the ancestor was able to exit his seclusion early, and they could finally go. The thought that the demons had already begun to plunder the land had their hearts thumping in excitement.

The Scarlet Terra Ancestor pondered, “If that was the case, why would Libido ask me for help?”

A devil chief said, “The battlefield is constantly changing, and nobody can say what might happen next. Libido sought reinforcements because he had suffered a loss, but he might have been able to turn things around. It’s just that now that he’s started to win, he’ll no longer come out to welcome us.”

The other devils agreed, some of the devil chiefs even starting to coldly laugh.

Demons were coldblooded and ruthless, placing little value in promises. Even betrayal was very possible. This was why the Scarlet Terra Ancestor had sent in a scout first, only sending in the army once he had confirmed that everything was okay.

But while it was safe, he was rather speechless that there was not a single demon to be found.

Another devil chief said, “Then what are we waiting for? We should advance at once.”

“We don’t know the situation, so we should scout first,” another devil objected.

“Once we finish scouting, Libido probably won’t share even his spit with us.”

The devils all piped up with their own opinions.

But no matter how they argued, the decision ultimately lay with the Scarlet Terra Ancestor.

Seeing all his subordinates anticipating his decision, the Scarlet Terra Ancestor considered his options and said, “There is no taking back a loosed arrow. Since we are here, we can’t go back empty-handed. There is no one here, so there’s no point in staying here. I hereby order the army to march on the human world. Eyeless Fiend Lord, you are responsible for scouting the path forward. Extreme Yin Devil, Hearteater Ghost, you two are responsible for the flanks. I’d like to see what the Rosecloud Domain can do to stop my Primordial Fog army!”

The recently-arrived demons once more set into motion.

Large numbers of winged demons took flight, while various bizarrely-shaped war wagons advanced on the ground.

These war wagons were like large towers, each one divided into several levels, each level holding numerous demon soldiers. At the top of the war wagon was a large cannon covered in talismans. Each war wagon was pulled along by demonic beasts that flew at low altitudes and left fiery trails in their wake.

Three thousand war wagons made for an awe-inspiring and unstoppable sight—and there truly was no one around to stop them, from Heavenweave Ridge all the way to Skybrink Ridge.

This vast army had nowhere to show off its might, like someone trying to show off their new clothes in the middle of the night.

The Scarlet Terra Ancestor and his subordinates all felt rather bored.

Where were those damn humans and Libido’s subordinates?

“Truly strange.” Standing atop a Firecloud War Wagon, the Scarlet Terra Ancestor looked around, muttering to himself in confusion.

At this moment, a message arrived.

It was the Eyeless Fiend Lord.

“Ancestor, we’ve found one demon up ahead.”

The Eyeless Fiend Lord was the member of the Scarlet Terra Ancestor’s army most skilled in reconnaissance. He was born without eyes and couldn’t see, but he had an extremely powerful Demonic Will that could cover a huge area, and almost nothing could escape its detection within an area of five thousand kilometers. And even beyond that range, he could still sense things to a certain extent.

The Scarlet Terra Ancestor and his devils were delighted to hear this news.

“Bring them over,” the Scarlet Terra Ancestor said.

A few moments later, a spatial vortex appeared over the Scarlet Terra Ancestor’s war wagon, and a woman fell out from it. The moment she hit the floor, she let out a grunt of pain.

“It’s a woman,” a devil chief said in surprise.

He seized the woman and held her up.

This woman possessed good looks while also seeming very innocent and vulnerable, stirring sympathy in others. She had seemingly been injured by that Eyeless Fiend Lord such that even standing was a struggle for her. In the grip of that devil chief, she could only look around in terror.

“Quite the beauty.” The devils erupted in laughter.

With a single glance, the devils had confirmed that this truly was a demon.

The standard for this judgment was simply demonic energy. Anyone contaminated by Primordial Fog demonic energy, whether human, fiend, or sprite, or else one of the native demons of the Primordial Fog Domain, was considered a demon.

Thus, while this demon was a human, she was also a demon.

Everyone sighed in relief now that they had found a demon, especially one so beautiful and vulnerable.

The Scarlet Terra Ancestor said, “Alright, enough, don’t scare her. Draw back your auras. She can’t endure it.”

The Scarlet Terra Ancestor could see that this girl was only at Soul Transformation. Standing in front of all these devil Titans was hard enough, let alone talking.

One devil chief replied, “Ancestor, be at ease; how could we bring ourselves to harm such a fragile little thing? We began to withdraw our auras the moment we saw her. Once we finish questioning her, we even plan to pamper her a little more.”

The devils all laughed. The Scarlet Terra Ancestor didn’t find pleasure in the opposite sex, so he normally left such opportunities to his subordinates.

A devil chief added, “But this beauty seems a little weak and might not be able to endure that much.”

“No problem, no problem. I have a Demon Spirit Pill that can increase her power. She’ll be able to endure it once she reaches Violet Palace,” an old devil said.

Another devil chief said in shock, “Witchbone, you would be willing to give something so precious as a Demon Spirit Pill to this little demon simply for a night of pleasure?”

That devil chief Witchbone replied, “Who said it was only one night? I’m an expert in energy absorption, and I can sense that there is a special power in this woman that will benefit my cultivation. Everyone, please do me a favor and give this woman to me. I am willing to give a tenth of my share of the resources.”

The Rosecloud Domain was rich in resources, so a devil chief was bound to obtain many resources from it. A tenth of it all for a single demon woman was extremely generous.

“We can talk about the exact details later,” the devils said with a laugh. Since Witchbone wanted this woman, the other devils wouldn’t fight with him over it.

“The woman is yours, but we still have to question her,” the Scarlet Terra Ancestor said. “Girl, let me ask you: what is your name?”

The girl had somewhat recovered from her initial terror. She first cast her gaze at the Scarlet Terra Ancestor, and then she looked at Witchbone, who was soon to be her master, but there was no fear on her face now. She simply bowed to the Scarlet Terra Ancestor and said, “This Mist Banshee pays respects to Senior. Please forgive this one for not knowing Senior’s name.”

The Scarlet Terra Ancestor proudly answered, “This one is Scarlet Terra.”

Alas, this proud announcement brought no admiring gaze. Mist Banshee simply blinked her eyes in confusion.

The Scarlet Terra Ancestor seemed to understand, sighing, “You are not a demon native to the Primordial Fog Domain, but one converted after we demons entered this domain, right?”

Mist Banshee replied, “Ancestor is wise. This Mist Banshee was originally a member of the human alliance, fighting against my fellow demons. But in battle, I was contaminated by demonic energy and converted into a demon. Fortunately, Mist Banshee was able to notice in time and escape the human alliance, or else the humans would have killed me. But as I became a demon late, the demon army was no longer present, which resulted in me being all alone, with no one to rely on…”

Her voice sank, and she appeared all the more pathetic and vulnerable.

“So you have yet to officially become a demon. No wonder you were wandering all on your own.” The Scarlet Terra Ancestor nodded.

He didn’t mind the fact that Mist Banshee had been converted into a demon.

Demons were so scary because demonic energy made humans fall into demonhood, causing a huge change in personality as well. Thus, those who fell became demons in both body and mind.

This was because nobody would accept them except the demons!

For this reason, the demons’ forces grew stronger the more they fought.

The Scarlet Terra Ancestor continued, “Let me ask you: where are all the demons who came in before? And where are the humans?”

“Ancestor, do you not know?” Mist Banshee prettily blinked her eyes. “In the war, while the humans had the advantage, they suffered heavy casualties and had no choice but to give up the battlefield and retreat to the rear.”

“Oh?” The devils were shocked.

A devil chief said, “Didn’t Libido say that he suffered great losses at the hands of the humans and needed reinforcements? Why is it that the humans retreated first, then?”

Mist Banshee calmly replied, “The acts of Demon Lords must have a profound meaning beyond the knowledge of this lowly woman. I can only report on what I have seen.”

Scarlet Terra grunted, “Libido is cunning. He might not have necessarily been telling the truth.”

“That still doesn’t make sense. Normally, you try to bluff strength when you can’t win. Who pushes back their enemy and then insists that they’re too weak?” a devil chief questioned.

The devils exchanged opinions, trying to figure out what Libido was up to.

In the end, the Scarlet Terra Ancestor waved his hand and said, “Forget about him. We’ll find out what he’s selling once we see him. Mist Banshee, I ask you: where are they now?”

Mist Banshee replied, “Ancestor, when I was among the humans, I learned that they would be retreating to the Crimson Luan Hidden Realm, hoping to use the terrain there to fend off we demons.”

“‘The Crimson Luan Hidden Realm’? What sort of place is that?” the devils asked, knowing little about the Rosecloud Domain.

Mist Banshee answered, “The Crimson Luan Hidden Realm is a hidden realm created by the humans to resist the demons. Apparently, it contains countless formations and traps, which the human alliance hopes to use to hold us off.”

“I see. No wonder I don’t see any humans in the area. Hmph, thinking they can hold us off with a single hidden realm? Ridiculous. Well, since Libido is already there, we might as well go and see what’s going on,” the Scarlet Terra Ancestor said with a chuckle.

“Ancestor, your subordinate has a suggestion,” a devil chief said.

“Tell me.”

“Since Libido is already having a decisive battle with the humans at that hidden realm, the rest of the Rosecloud Domain is bound to be empty. Rather than going over to spectate, wouldn’t it be better to plunder the domain first?”

This suggestion was very tempting for all the devils.

“Right, right, Libido fights so that we can enjoy the spoils,” the devil chiefs called out in agreement.

Even Scarlet Terra found the prospect appetizing.

Of course, there were objectors. Some thought that this would definitely offend Libido.

So what?

This was how demons were, only thinking of their own benefit. In the Primordial Fog Domain, it was completely normal to exploit the efforts of someone else and enjoy the fruits of their labor. Libido would lose because he was an idiot, nothing more. After all, he was the one who had asked for the Scarlet Terra Ancestor’s help!

At this moment, Mist Banshee said, “Ancestor, you might be unaware that before the decisive battle, the human alliance gathered all their resources within the hidden realm. That place is the treasury of the Rosecloud Domain, and if not for that, Libido would not have marched his demon army over to assault it.”

“Oh?” The Scarlet Terra Ancestor narrowed his eyes. “In other words, we have to go to this Crimson Luan Hidden Realm.”
