Aspiring to the Immortal Path

Chapter 1194: Interception (1)

Logi died.

This member of the Heavenquake Demons, one of the most tenacious kinds of demons in the Primordial Fog Domain, was ground to death in the World Devourer, dying without even a struggle.

When Logi’s massive body entirely vanished into the black hole, Libido and Wano were so shocked that they couldn’t speak, and they looked at Tang Jie with eyes full of disbelief.

Libido and Wano had lost the courage to fight. It just so happened that Tang Jie closed the Heavenly Dao Realm and Mountain River State Diagram at this time, upon which the Demon Lords seized this chance to retreat.

Tang Jie didn’t give chase, instead bombarding the area below with World Devourers. While using the Heavenly Dao Realm, Tang Jie had taken the opportunity to restore his energy and life force.

The World Devourers ran wild down below, devouring everything that dared to get in front of them, whether demon or devil.

If possible, Tang Jie wanted to throw seven or eight World Devourers in a row so that he could ensure the demon camp was completely flattened, thus bringing peace to the world.

Alas, he couldn’t.

As he was throwing out the World Devourers, he was swiftly flying back toward the human side. All he cared about was flying as quickly as possible, completely ignoring the battlefield.

Seeing this, Yun Tianlan knew what was happening and shouted, “Let’s go!”

All the cultivators immediately stopped attacking and reassumed formation, using the chaos created by the World Devourers to fly back. At the same time, a large number of Immortals and True Lords covered the retreat, throwing up all kinds of obstructive spell arts before the demon ranks.

Meanwhile, clouds flashing with lightning gathered in the sky.

Even the lowest level of cultivator or demon could sense the terrifying energy within those clouds and understood what they signified.

Tribulation clouds!

A Heavenly Tribulation!

Realization dawned upon Demon Lord Libido.

He understood what sort of mistake he had made.

He had guessed correctly. Tang Jie could not casually use that powerful ability.

But the limit on this ability was not energy or life force or any kind of resource, but the Heavenly Tribulation!

It was precisely because he had failed to realize, because he thought that he had already realized the trick, that Logi had died.

The correct course would have been to continue forcing the issue, for after Tang Jie had used the Heavenly Dao Realm the second time, he had entered the triggering zone of the Heavenly Tribulation.

Alas, because he had decided to run rather than fight, he gave Tang Jie an opportunity to escape.

Libido was full of remorse.

“Stop him! Don’t let him escape!” He once more issued the order to intercept.

But this time, it was truly too late.

While the tribulation clouds were still forming, Tang Jie was already flying back toward the human ranks.

There was an entire army of human cultivators there to cover his retreat.

They had instantly switched from offense to defense.

The first lightning bolt descended from the sky.

Tang Jie stopped flying and struck back.

This Heavenly Tribulation was clearly much larger and much stronger than the previous ones. The lightning within the clouds was like a nest of snakes, their horrifying power evident from the sight alone.

Tang Jie stood within this lightning, roaring and swinging amid the lightning snakes.

The clash of fist and lightning created radiant shockwaves in the heavens.

They came one after another, over and over.

It was enough to blind the eyes.

Both humans and demons were stunned. It was only in this sort of apocalyptic Heavenly Tribulation that one could see how strong Tang Jie truly was!

He had surpassed his peers long ago, becoming a God Immortal without compare.

Libido angrily roared, “Charge through! No matter the cost!”

He now fully understood that no matter how strong Tang Jie was, even if he endured this terrifying Heavenly Tribulation, he was bound to be heavily injured. If he missed this chance, he would not get another.

Tang Jie was humanity’s supporting pillar. Only by destroying this pillar would they be able to invade.

For this purpose, he even deployed the demon army’s strongest force, the Blood Demon army.

Thirty thousand Bluestar Blood Demons flew toward the lightning.

There were six kinds of Blood Demons in the Primordial Fog Domain, and Bluestar Blood Demons were one of the stronger kinds. They were around a hundred feet tall, their bodies consisting of crimson blood which flickered with blue starlight, hence their name.

This blue starlight was what made them so scary.

Bluestar Blood Demons had a simple and pure fighting style. They could unleash the blue stars within them as lethal rays of light, and each one had 108 blue stars, so they could each release 108 beams of death at once. They could be fired individually or together, which meant that they could create webs of death. The blue stars could also move around, so there was no such thing as a blind spot for them. They could constantly move around their stars to either focus on powerful targets or attack multiple ones.

Numerous Bluestar Blood Demons working together made the web of starlight even more dangerous.

These were a kind of demon basically born for fighting large-scale battles. Thirty thousand Blood Demons were enough to make even Immortals retreat.

The moment the Blood Demons appeared, a massive net of lethal starlight descended.

A cultivator squad formed a sky-spanning shield, but as thousands of rays of starlight struck it, the shield rapidly degraded, and a moment later, the squad was diced into chunks by the starlight.

“Immeasurable Earth!” Huang Wuji roared, summoning a mighty wall of earth akin to a mountain range to divide the two sides.

The Blood Demons bellowed, and their starlight merged together into a giant beam of light, several kilometers thick. The beam slammed into the thick wall, and a barrier that would have taken several devils to break down was instantly destroyed.

“Puppets, attack!” Yun Tianlan ordered.

Countless puppets charged out of the clouds.

The starlight beams swept over, slicing through the puppets like they were stalks of wheat.

While these puppets had been made from refined metals, they might as well have been made of mud before the starlight, some of them destroyed before they could even leave the clouds.

But there was a constant stream of ships delivering more and more puppets.

The cultivators had built an innumerable number of puppets to serve as their cannon fodder, and they were finally being put to work.

The Blood Demons were powerful, but the puppets kept coming.

And they weren’t just waiting around to be destroyed.

Each puppet had an offensive formation installed, and as they descended, they activated these formations to strike back at the demons. While these spell arts might individually have been limited in power, they came down in a great deluge, and the demon ranks were soon awash in explosions of light and blood.

While most of the attacks did little, the constant stream began to inflict losses on the Blood Demons.

Under a barrage of several thousand lightning bolts and blasts of wind, a Bluestar Blood Demon finally collapsed.

This was the first Bluestar Blood Demon to die in battle, but not the last, and as more puppets rained down, more Blood Demons fell.

Each Bluestar Blood Demon might have been taking hundreds of puppets with it, but Libido still found this to be a huge loss.

Puppets were cannon fodder, and cannon fodder existed to draw enemy fire, to create chances for the elites in the rear. Moreover, puppets could be produced, but Bluestar Blood Demons could not. As one of the strongest kinds of demons of the Primordial Fog Domain, they were extremely rare, each one to be cherished. Their death beams made them the ideal artillery, and even True Immortals found it hard to stop the combined might of thirty thousand of them.

Trading Bluestar Blood Demons for puppets was like trading an Immortal medicine for herbs. No amount of herbs could match the value.

But he had no choice.

To kill Tang Jie, he had to have his strongest force charge into enemy lines.

And he had to unleash even greater strength!

With the Blood Demons being fended off by the puppets, Libido roared and thrust out a finger. This finger ignored space and distance, stabbing toward the distant Tang Jie: the Primal Heaven Demon Finger!

Yun Tianlan and the others were ready for this. As Libido attacked, four True Immortals and six Earth Immortals—Yun Tianlan, Fairy Gu Ye, Blossom Queen Ran Qing, and Ye Yun among them—attacked Libido!

Various Dao armaments were also mobilized, the Heaven Earth Mirror, Phantom Blade, Mountain Sea Saber, Celestial Sound Wooden Fish, Seven Treasure Lotus Tree, Floating World Diagram, and Demon-Sealing Stele filling the world with their radiance.

Not even Demon Lord Libido could withstand such an array of Immortals.

This was only possible because Tang Jie had slain so many devils in one fell swoop.

At this moment, the Violet Djinns came howling onto the field, plumes of purple smoke rising from their bodies and surging toward Libido. In the middle of that whirling smoke cloud, the Primal Heaven Demon Finger suddenly exploded in power and flew toward Yun Tianlan and the other Immortals.

A massive flood of demonic energy devoured the Immortals. Boom! Boom! Boom! All eleven Immortals, Yun Tianlan included, exploded.

One finger to tear through the heavens!
