Chapter 1193: Devastation (5)
Upon hearing Libido’s voice, Tang Jie sped up.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
He shot like a lightning bolt into the distance.
“Trying to run? You stay right there!” Libido roared, reaching out a hand.
A giant demonic hand wreathed in black clouds gave chase, as did Logi and Wano.
“Hahahaha, you can’t escape. A price must be paid for all the devils you killed. Leave all your arts and treasures behind!” Wano charged forward, opening his maw and releasing a horde of demons, and behind him was Logi.
Tang Jie sighed. “I wanted to just leave, but you insist on sending yourselves to your deaths. Since you refuse to see reason, I’ll send you on your way.”
“Shameless boaster!” Wano spat out a black cloud which contained countless black lice. Each louse was the size of a millstone, tougher than steel and able to eat anything, even Immortal energy. They were considered Wano’s trump card.
Tang Jie ignored them, first turning around and thrusting a finger at Libido’s demonic hand. The two momentarily trembled and then were both sent flying. Tang Jie reacted more quickly, using this opportunity to form numerous mysterious hand signs infused with his formation arts. He essentially laid down a formation behind him, making it harder for Wano and Logi to chase after him.
“You think that’s enough?” Wano laughed. “Don’t forget that it’s our territory outside. My children, block his path!”With this roar, countless demons turned to the heavens, letting out sharp cries. Some of the bolder ones even dared to attack True Immortals, spell arts streaking through the sky like meteorites. The Shadow Nagas and Blood Demons also combined their powers to attack. Tang Jie was like a mosquito amid all the darkness and demonic energy, unable to fly its way out of the impenetrable wall of attacks.
Tang Jie was unafraid, laughing, “You can call on your friends, so why can’t I? Ancestor, please lend me your aid!”
A chunk of the dark clouds was suddenly cleared away, and a light pierced through the heavens.
Yun Tianlan’s resonant voice rang out, “Tyrannical demons run rampant over the people. All who heed my will, slay any demons you encounter!”
“Kill them all!” a mighty cry came in response.
A vast army of cultivators appeared in the sky, riding on various flying ships, pagodas, carriages, and palaces. As they arrived on the battlefield, they raised their art relics and divine treasures to bombard the area below.
This surprise attack immediately dealt severe losses to the demon army.
As fierce characters, the demons remained composed, and the call soon came for a counterattack. A thousand-some high-tier devils began to pull out their treasures, even bold enough to attack Immortal Platform Titans. Not all the devils had gone to encircle Tang Jie, a small portion remaining to defend the camp. Soon, the skies were painted in white and black from the clashing energies.
Tang Jie laughed at the sight. “This was exactly the moment I was waiting for. Weapon!”
“Weapon (兵)!”
This cry resounded through the heavens like the ringing of a bell, reaching the hearts of every person and demon.
The treasures being wielded by the devils shattered, transforming into golden streaks of light that flew toward Tang Jie.
“My baby!” The wails of devils rose up from the demon ranks.
In truth, Tang Jie had been unable to replicate the Martial Lord’s power with this call.
The Martial Lord’s single cry could cause the weapons of the myriad Immortals to shatter. Meanwhile, Tang Jie’s cry had only targeted the high-tier devils, ignoring the middle-tier and peak-tier devils. This was because the devils of the high tier possessed the most treasures while being relatively few in number, which made it the most cost-efficient. Even then, he had only managed to shatter a third of the treasures, and he no longer had the strength to make a second shout.
Even so, this use of the Weapon Mantra had all the devils trembling in fear.
A third of their weapons being shattered caused their ability to defend against the humans to plunge, creating a gap in their defenses, and when there was one hole, many more were soon to follow.
The human cultivators seized this opportunity, the light of their treasures shining through the defenses and massacring the demons below.
Libido and the two Lesser Demon Lords were shocked and enraged. Tang Jie had clearly been ready for this.
This had been a trap set by Tang Jie from the very start. His Heavenly Dao Realm was clearly an ability that was extremely powerful but with correspondingly huge limitations. This was why Tang Jie had been looking for the opportunity to maximize its usage. In normal circumstances, the devils of the Primordial Fog were scattered about, defending their own areas, and rarely would they gather together in one place. But he saw an opportunity in the conspiracy devised by the devils, and so he had walked into their ambush and battled it out with them precisely for that opportunity. He had been willing to risk his life, and he had reaped a rich harvest as a reward.
The moment he wiped out so many devils at once was also the moment for the humans to charge in, able to both deal serious damage to the demons and also come to Tang Jie’s rescue.
The realization made Libido even more frantic.
The demons were bound to lose this battle. The only way of salvaging their losses was capturing or killing Tang Jie.
Libido cast everything aside and summoned the Cage of Darkness, causing a sea of dark clouds to descend around Tang Jie.
The Cage of Darkness was Libido’s Immortal-level Devil Art that Libido used to hold his enemies. Those within the dark clouds would find themselves lost in an infinite expanse, and unless they could find its secret, they could fly for a million years without getting out. Besides that, the demonic energy within would corrupt them into demons. Moreover, within the clouds, Tang Jie would no longer be able to attack the demons, though this also meant that the demons couldn’t attack Tang Jie. Earlier, Libido had been unwilling to directly fight Tang Jie and instead sought to use the demon army to wear out Tang Jie, and this had resulted in the devils losing numerous treasures, so he had no choice but to use this move.
And then Libido thrust out a finger.
Primal Heaven Demon Finger!
This was one of Libido’s strongest moves. Together with the Avarice Serpent and Cage of Darkness, they comprised his three great Devil Arts. Libido had desired Tang Jie’s flesh and energy, so he had only used the Avarice Serpent, but now, he had decided to go fully on the offensive.
This was the finger that had pierced through the Starsnatch Net, and now, it once more reappeared to exhibit its majestic power.
Tang Jie swung the Sovereign Blade to counter, but this unstoppable blade was unexpectedly only evenly matched with this finger.
Logi and Wano also charged in, and Tang Jie summoned a World Devourer in response.
This time, his World Devourer was no longer as powerful. The Cage of Darkness imprisoned both him and his spell arts and Divine Connections, making him unable to use them at their full power. Libido had not used it in the previous battle because the Cage of Darkness still had to endure the power of the World Devourer to a certain extent. Demons were selfish by nature, and besides, the devils were fine if they had been killed once or twice, but if they ran out of energy, they would die permanently. This had made him unwilling to use the Cage of Darkness on a large scale, only using a smaller version to protect himself and aid in ambushes. Later on, when things went wrong and the Heavenly Dao Realm was activated, he couldn’t even use the Cage of Darkness.
It was only now, when facing this sort of devastating defeat, when dealing with the powerful and well-equipped Tang Jie, that Libido finally put aside his selfishness and used his full strength against Tang Jie.
The World Devourer expanded, attempting to suck in and destroy all, but the endless demonic energy rushed into the black hole.
This was the energy of darkness from the Primordial Fog Domain, and though the black hole could hold all things, the profound darkness of the Primordial Fog Domain was an exception. In that torrent of demonic energy, the black hole faded away into nothing, its power extending for only a limited distance before disappearing.
Meanwhile, the attacks from Logi and Wano arrived.
The power of these two Lesser Demon Lords was not to be underestimated. Wano’s Immortal Eater Lice ate through Tang Jie’s barriers while Logi’s eight arms battered away at his body, causing Tang Jie to throw up blood. This blood was thick with energy, vitalizing the surrounding world as much as it ate away at Tang Jie’s life force.
“You’re doomed! Not even the human reinforcements can save you!” Libido howled.
Once this Archdemon Lord stopped being selfish, his immense power truly did exert great pressure on Tang Jie, let alone the two Lesser Demon Lords supporting him.
It had to be understood that while these two might not have been able to take on Tang Jie individually, they could obliterate True Immortals on the level of Yun Tianlan like they were playthings. The devils of the Primordial Fog Domain all possessed power above their tier. Alas, their rotten luck meant that they had run into a freak like Tang Jie. First the Eight Ocean Mountains had destroyed much of their cannon fodder, and then the Heavenly Dao Realm had slain numerous devils.
But at least now, Tang Jie had nothing left to deal with the combined powers of the three Demon Lords, and the balance soon tipped against him.
Kill him at all costs!
This was the shared aspiration of the three Demon Lords.
But at this moment, Tang Jie suddenly sighed. “I really could kill one more of you, so why didn’t you believe me?”
Tang Jie once more took out the Mountain River State Diagram, and as it appeared, that familiar golden light expanded from under Tang Jie, swiftly encompassing the entire Yellow Court World.
As this light appeared, the Cage of Darkness disappeared.
All it required was a single thought from Tang Jie, nothing more.
If he wanted it gone, it was gone.
Libido and the two Lesser Demon Lords reeled in shock. “This is impossible! How can you still use it?”
Tang Jie replied, “Fixate!”
Logi found himself paralyzed.
And then an infinite darkness swallowed him up…
