Chapter 2044: Compensation

“Why? Why do you give it back to them? There’s nothing they can do, even if we keep it.”

Olympe could not understand his wife. In his mind, the Cladeos Emporium would not dare to take the cat forcefully. On top of that, they purchased the beast rightfully, not like they took it for free.

“Oh, dear. They are willing to offend us for their special guest. That means that the special guest had a status higher than you. I don’t want another person to go after your head just because of a Beast Spirit. Your brothers and cousins are giving us enough trouble already; we don’t want a third party in the chaos as well.” Henriette voiced her thoughts on the matter.

Olympe was the third prince of the Celes Kingdom who had already given up the throne. He announced it so his brothers and cousins would not target him and his family. Despite the proclamation, it did not stop Olympe’s ambitious brother from attempting to assassinate him. There have been five assassination attempts since her husband made the announcement.

“You are overthinking it…” Olympe’s voice quietened down when he met with his wife’s glare.

Elnar was inspecting the blind Auspicious Mytherean with care while the four little girls were watching them. They looked concerned when they found out what happened to the poor Auspicious Mytherean.

After further inspection, there was no hidden wound. The healing fracture was still painful for the cat. It was obvious when Elnar tried to move the legs. He used a healing skill that helped with the pain. Elnar then observed the blind, and it took longer than every thought for Elnar to reach a conclusion.

“The fracture should be fine, and I can do something with the scar. As for the eyes, I can try an eye surgery, but I am not one hundred percent sure it will succeed.”

That was Elnar’s conclusion after doing a thorough check-up on the Beast Spirit.

“What’s the chance he could recover his left eyesight with your surgery?” Azhug asked.

“A good chance, around eighty percent.”

“Let’s do the surgery.”

It was not Tang Shaoyang or Azhug who said that, but Cecilia. She had become less afraid of the giant Troll and dared to look Elnar in the eyes now. She felt bad for what the poor Auspicious had gone through. It would be better if the cat could get his eyesight back.

Elnar chuckled and explained, “I can’t do the surgery here, Young Lady Cecil. I need preparation and tools. The Auspicious Mytherean also needs preparation for surgery, or the surgery might fail. On top of that, we also need the owner for surgery.”

Speaking of the devil, the door opened. Elonia arrived with an elf they did not know, and their attention was on the cage that was brought by the elf. That was the item they bid on in the auction.

“Can you check that one for me, Azhug?” Elnar asked the Chief Caretaker for the second because the one in his arm was sleeping soundly.

The Ogre nodded and welcomed them, receiving the cage and checking on the Auspicious Mytherean’s condition. This one was without flaw, groomed well, and perfect. The moment it came out of the cage, it jumped at the Ogre, resting on his embrace.

Tang Shaoyang paid the price directly to Elonia, 200 million. Elonia wanted to say something, but the elf stopped her and stepped up. She bowed at Tang Shaoyang.

“My name is Meira. I am the Managing Director of the Cladeos Emporium branch in the Beast Spirit Alliance.”

“I apologize for the mishap that was caused by our employee, Sir. The fault is on our side. Our negligence caused an inconvenience to you.” As she said that, she pulled the Auction Manager. She did not need to say anything as the Auction Manager fell on his knees and put his face on the floor.

“I apologize for my insolent behavior, Sir. I will accept any punishment to obtain your forgiveness!”

His voice was so loud that he almost woke up the sleeping Auspicious Mytherean.

Tang Shaoyang waved his hand, “I don’t want your apology, and I don’t want to see you anymore. Just Sc— Don’t ever show your face again to me!”

The Auction Manager immediately stood up and left the room right away. Of course, he did not leave right away, standing outside the room, covering his face with his arms so the Executive Administrator could not see his face if he came out now.

“For the trouble we have caused, we will compensate you with a better pair of Auspicious Mytherean from our menagerie, Sir. That’s the best we can do for the inconvenience and the delay we have caused.”

What the Auction Manager did not really change his view of the Cladeos Emporium. That made him aware not to trust anyone who worked in this merchant faction just because he knew Elonia. Tang Shaoyang did not expect them to compensate for the incident with a pair of Auspicious Mytherean. Based on the market, it was worth 220 million, but if it were based on the auction price, a pair of Auspicious Mytherean would be 400 million.

“Then I will accept the gift,” Tang Shaoyang shamelessly accepted the compensation, not even bothering to pretend to refuse it. It was a free pair of Auspicious Mytherean.

Meira nodded understandingly, “Then we will prepare a female Auspicious Mytherean. I will make sure it will be ready by the end of the auction, Sir. Thank you for your understanding of the situation, Sir. And once more, I apologize for the inconvenience we have caused. We will do our best to reflect on today’s incident, and we will do our best for the same incident not to recur.”

“I accept the apology, so stop apologizing. It’s better if you can explain what happened instead of leaving us in the dark. I believe we deserve a clarification on what happened,” Tang Shaoyang wanted to know what happened for a prestigious merchant to do this kind of shady deal.

Meira hesitated because this would reflect their emporium poorly if she told the truth. She could not make the decision, just like how she decided the compensation. She turned toward Elonia, asking for her superior’s opinion.

Elonia responded with a nod, giving her consent. Meira did not hesitate to elaborate on what happened after receiving the consent. She told everything that happened, but she did not put all the blame on the Auction Manager. She told Tang Shaoyang that their Auction Manager was intimidated by the third prince.

“I see…” Tang Shaoyang just said that and did not inquire further. He did not ask what the Auction Manager’s punishment was, or what they did to the third prince. That was not his problem.

“Ah, there’s one more thing, sir.” She remembered the third prince’s wife’s message.

“The number six VIP asked me to convey her message. She wishes to meet you to discuss the Auspicious Mytherean. She wants to purchase your Auspicious Mytherean. In that note, I hope you don’t resent them for this incident, Sir. They are just parents who try to make their daughter happy.”

Tang Shaoyang wanted to dismiss the invitation, but hesitated when he heard the last part. He put himself in that position, and he might do the same to make his daughter happy. In the end, he asked his wives’ opinion whether they should meet them or not.

“Let’s meet them.”

Li Shuang and Ava were the first two to say that. They seemed to be on the same wavelength. The other girls didn’t have any particular opinion and did not mind.

“We don’t mind meeting them. Can you arrange the place for us?”

The Managing Director nodded gratefully, “I will convey your reply and will arrange a place for you, Sir.”

Meira left the room. She winked at Elonia as she left the room. The problem was resolved well, offending no one, hopefully. From the two interactions, Meira could feel the positive result. She was also glad that the new Executive Administrator was reasonable, quite different from the rumor about the Executive Administrator.

Elonia was standing awkwardly after Meira left, and she was embarrassed by what had happened. She was afraid that Tang Shaoyang had lost trust in the Cladeos Emporium. She was scared that this incident would jeopardize their deal.

“Don’t worry, Lady Elonia. We are still considering the deal. We are not going to let one corrupt individual affect your judgment. If you are afraid of losing trust, don’t worry as well. We haven’t trusted you in the first place, and you still have time to gain our trust. But I would say, I like the way you handled this incident.”

Li Shuang pulled the stun-locked Elonia, especially when the half-elf heard the last part, “Don’t think you can buy my trust just because you give some discount and compensation.”

Elonia cracked into a smile and returned to her seat, “Then I will do my best to gain your trust.”
